Ch. 101The growth of Didaze's squad

Didaze tested Watanabe Kawa, Reigyō, and Nanako Uzumaki in a nighttime training match, then told them they would join him on the battlefield. The three youngsters prepared to face the possibility of war starting at any moment.

  • Didaze used Shadow Clones to summon the three youngsters to the training ground and lit the night with a chakra-powered High-Brightness Bomb.
  • Watanabe Kawa attacked Didaze with Great Fire Annihilation, but Didaze scattered the flames with Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere.
  • Didaze attacked all three youngsters with Wind Blades, and Nanako Uzumaki defended with Adamantine Sealing Chains while Watanabe Kawa and Reigyō struggled to keep up.
  • After Watanabe Kawa and Reigyō collapsed from exhaustion and Nanako failed to break through his offense, Didaze announced that their punishment was to accompany him to the battlefield.
  • Watanabe Kawa first asked to sit out, then changed his mind and begged to join the others; Didaze warned the three to prepare because war could begin at any moment.

Ch. 102The Third Shinobi World War

Rasa used the Third Kazekage’s disappearance to justify war with Konoha, while Iwagakure also declared war and Kumogakure moved troops to the border. The Third Shinobi World War began on multiple fronts, leaving Uchiha Fugaku’s clan resentful about being sent to face Sunagakure without other major clans.

  • Rasa gathered Sunagakure’s higher-ups, accused Konoha of killing the Third Kazekage, and ordered Chiyo and Ebizo to lead two thousand ninja against Konoha.
  • Sunagakure declared war on Konoha, Iwagakure followed with its own declaration, and Kumogakure moved troops to the border.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi denied killing the Third Kazekage when confronted by the Sunagakure and Iwagakure envoys, then let them leave.
  • Sunagakure forces entered the Land of Rivers, while Iwagakure troops gathered in the Land of Waterfalls to face Konoha’s forces led by Orochimaru, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Minato Namikaze.
  • Uchiha Fugaku’s clan members complained that the Third Hokage had sent their entire clan to the Sunagakure front alongside ordinary ninja.

Ch. 103The Sunagakure Battlefield

Uchiha Fugaku led a large force of Uchiha and ordinary Konoha ninja against Sunagakure, where Chiyo and Ebizo commanded the defense. After Fugaku held the two puppet masters at bay, Chiyo’s powerful technique began crushing his Susanoo, forcing him to advance it to the second stage.

  • Chiyo and Ebizo noticed that Konoha’s force consisted of nearly a hundred Uchiha leading ordinary ninja, with no other secret-technique clans present.
  • Chiyo and Ebizo attacked with their puppets, but the Uchiha answered with powerful Fire Style techniques that burned the front-line puppets and drove Chiyo’s collection back.
  • Fugaku led the Uchiha against Sunagakure’s puppeteers while the rest of the Konoha and Sunagakure ninja joined battle.
  • Fugaku used his Three-Tomoe Sharingan to evade Chiyo and Ebizo’s fifteen puppets, holding them off without activating his Mangekyō.
  • Chiyo used Three Treasures Suction Crush to pull Fugaku toward her puppets, and Fugaku activated his first-stage Susanoo, which began to buckle under the suction.
  • Fugaku activated the second stage of Susanoo as Chiyo’s technique continued to overwhelm its skeletal form.

Ch. 104Battle plan

Uchiha Fugaku preserved his ocular power against Chiyo and Ebizo, leaving the Sunagakure battlefield in a stalemate. Didaze then led Iwagakure’s forces into battle against Konoha, where he and Roshi confronted the Sannin.

  • Uchiha Fugaku shifted Susanoo forms to conserve his ocular power while Chiyo and Ebizo kept him occupied, then Sunagakure withdrew.
  • Didaze outlined Iwagakure’s battle plan, assigning Tōshirō, Mahiru, Kakkō, and Taiseki to work together against Konoha.

  • Minato Namikaze appeared beside Mahiru using Flying Thunder God and overwhelmed him with rapid attacks using marked kunai.
  • Nanako Uzumaki used Adamantine Sealing Chains to pull Mahiru to safety, and Minato recognized her red hair and chains as signs of the Uzumaki Clan.
  • Nanako attacked Minato with her chains as Mahiru warned her about his ability to travel between kunai, and she promised to restrain him.

Ch. 106Toad Sage

Minato Namikaze attacked Iwagakure while Nanako Uzumaki defended Mahiru, but a fire in Konoha’s rear forced the Konoha forces to retreat. On another part of the battlefield, Jiraiya began entering Sage Mode as Orochimaru and Tsunade tried to stop Didaze’s explosive attack.

  • Minato Namikaze failed to break through Nanako Uzumaki’s defenses and diverted his assault into Iwagakure’s ranks.
  • Minato Namikaze and the Konoha ninja retreated after a fire broke out near their provisions, while Mahiru realized Taiseki had started the blaze.

Ch. 107Sage Mode

Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru fought Roshi and Didaze while Fukasaku and Shima gathered Senjutsu Chakra for Jiraiya to enter Sage Mode. Tsunade survived Didaze’s Heavy Explosive Bomb but was gravely injured, and as Orochimaru carried her away, Roshi fired a Tailed Beast Bomb at them.

  • Fukasaku and Shima used the Toad Confrontation Chant to disrupt Roshi and Didaze, then began gathering Senjutsu Chakra for Jiraiya.
  • Jiraiya, Gamabunta, and Orochimaru combined their attacks to sweep the sky with fire, while Roshi formed a Tailed Beast Bomb.
  • Tsunade released her Yin Seal and punched Roshi, interrupting his attack but burning her hand before Katsuyu and her healing technique restored it.
  • Didaze attacked Tsunade with a Heavy Explosive Bomb while his split body distracted Jiraiya with a C2: Dragon; Tsunade activated the Strength of a Hundred Technique and survived the blast.
  • Fukasaku and Shima told Jiraiya the Senjutsu Chakra was ready, while Tsunade’s healing kept her alive despite severe burns.
  • Orochimaru carried Tsunade away from Roshi’s lava, but Roshi pursued them with a Tailed Beast Bomb as Jiraiya used Sage Art: Goemon.

Ch. 108C4: Karura

Didaze unleashed C4: Karura, a gigantic bomb filled with Nanoscale Bombs, against Jiraiya and his allies. The blast trapped Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru in a ten-kilometer danger zone, and the chapter ended as Jiraiya began the Reverse Summoning Technique and explosions erupted across his body.

  • Jiraiya pursued Didaze with Sage Art: Goemon while his hair attacked Didaze's split body, and Didaze merged with his clone.
  • Didaze told Saiken to warn Son Gokū to get Roshi away, and Son Gokū took control of Roshi and removed him from the battlefield.
  • Didaze gathered his chakra into clay, flew high into the sky, and unleashed the enormous C4: Karura.
  • Karura detonated and filled the area with Nanoscale Bombs, overwhelming Katsuyu and threatening Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru.
  • Sage Fukasaku and Sage Shima used the Toad Confrontation Chant to clear nearby bombs, but Jiraiya began the Reverse Summoning Technique and explosions broke out across his body.

Ch. 109Jiraiya's death

Jiraiya sacrificed himself to send Tsunade, Orochimaru, Fukasaku, and Shima to Mount Myōboku as Didaze's explosion destroyed the battlefield. Meanwhile, Minato Namikaze and Dan Katō led Konoha ninja into an attack against Iwagakure, and Dan risked his body and soul in battle.

  • Jiraiya used the Reverse Summoning Technique to send his allies to Mount Myōboku, then died in Didaze's explosion.
  • Didaze picked up Roshi and headed toward the main battlefield, expecting that Jiraiya had been the one to die.
  • Minato Namikaze found Konoha's provisions burning and refused Shibi Aburame's advice to defend rather than attack.
  • Dan Katō joined Minato Namikaze and called for volunteers to charge Iwagakure's forces.
  • Dan Katō used the Spirit Transformation Technique while Inoichi Yamanaka took control of his body with the Mind Body Switch Technique.

Ch. 110A head-on clash

Minato Namikaze cut through Iwagakure’s forces, but Tōshirō and three Elite Jonin confronted him and forced his attack to a stalemate. As the four endured his assaults, they sensed Minato’s chakra was dwindling.

  • Tōshirō warned the others about Dan Katō’s Spirit Transformation Technique while Minato used Flying Thunder God to kill Iwagakure ninja.
  • Nanako Uzumaki sent Adamantine Sealing Chains after Minato, but he used Flying Thunder God: Second Step to evade them and reach the rear of the forces.
  • Tōshirō led Mahiru, Kakkō, and Taiseki to contain Minato, assigning Taiseki to hide and prepare a surprise attack.
  • Minato sensed Taiseki through his camouflage and wounded his arm before Mahiru could intervene.
  • Mahiru, Kakkō, and Tōshirō protected Taiseki and fought Minato to a stalemate, while his chakra continued to dwindle.

Ch. 111Roshi Came to the Rescue

Nanako Uzumaki collapsed after Dan Katō repeatedly attacked her spirit, but an unseen force blocked his final blows. As the Konoha forces advanced, Roshi returned as the Four-Tails, and Minato Namikaze saved them from a Tailed Beast Bomb with a new Flying Thunder God technique.

  • Dan Katō attacked Nanako Uzumaki's soul until she collapsed, but her unconscious body inexplicably blocked his strikes.
  • Iwagakure ninja carried Nanako away as the Konoha forces pushed forward and Minato Namikaze wounded his three opponents.
  • Roshi arrived to save Tōshirō and ordered the Iwagakure forces to withdraw before transforming into the Four-Tails.
  • Roshi fired a Tailed Beast Bomb that killed over a hundred Konoha ninja.
  • Minato Namikaze used Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder to transport Roshi's next Tailed Beast Bomb to an empty area.
  • Didaze watched Minato's technique and questioned how powerful the nineteen-year-old had become.

Ch. 112Truce

Minato Namikaze stopped Roshi’s attacks and withdrew the Konoha force while Didaze returned to his rear camp. There, Didaze discovered that Nanako Uzumaki’s unconsciousness marked a transformation that could bring her close to awakening Wood Release.

  • Minato Namikaze teleported Roshi’s Tailed Beast Bombs and Lava Release away, then sent Roshi to a distant forest and led the Konoha force in retreat.
  • Didaze stopped Roshi from pursuing and took him back to the rear, where Tōshirō apologized for their defeat.
  • Didaze planned to ask Ōnoki to send Kōdo to counter Minato Namikaze.
  • After learning Nanako Uzumaki had not awakened, Didaze hurried to the medical tent and examined her chakra.
  • Didaze sensed endlessly regenerating chakra in Nanako Uzumaki and concluded that waking up was the final step before she could awaken Wood Release.

Ch. 113The Great Toad Sage's summons

Didaze reported to Ōnoki that he had killed one of the Sannin and that Nanako might awaken Wood Release, prompting Ōnoki to prepare to join the battlefield. On Mount Myōboku, Tsunade and Orochimaru recovered from the Nanoscale Bombs and were summoned to see the Great Toad Sage while grieving Jiraiya.

  • Didaze dictated a letter to Deido reporting the Sannin's death, Nanako's possible Wood Release, and the enemy's Flying Thunder God user, then ordered him to deliver it to Ōnoki.
  • Ōnoki read the letter, became excited about Nanako's Wood Release, and decided to go to the battlefield after Deido warned that Iwagakure would be vulnerable if he left the village undefended.
  • Ōnoki ordered Deido to tell Didaze to send Roshi back and prepared to head to the battlefield himself.
  • On Mount Myōboku, Sage Fukasaku told Tsunade and Orochimaru that they had recovered after the Nanoscale Bombs were removed, and summoned them to see the Great Toad Sage.
  • Tsunade mourned Jiraiya and accused Orochimaru of seeming indifferent, but Orochimaru explained that Jiraiya had sacrificed himself to save them and followed Sage Fukasaku.

Ch. 114Two worlds?

The Great Toad Sage revealed that the world had split into two and that a new, unknowable Child of Prophecy had appeared, while remaining confused about whether Jiraiya was alive or dead. Orochimaru reported Jiraiya’s death and Didaze’s powerful new bomb to Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Nawaki began to glow after hearing the news.

  • The Great Toad Sage told Tsunade and Orochimaru that the Child of Prophecy had changed and that their world had split into two several years earlier.
  • Sage Fukasaku used the Reverse Summoning Technique to send Tsunade and Orochimaru to Jiraiya’s home, where Tsunade wept and Orochimaru considered the meaning of two worlds.
  • Orochimaru went to the Hokage’s office and told Hiruzen Sarutobi that Jiraiya had died and Didaze’s Karura bomb had halted the fighting.
  • Orochimaru explained Karura’s effects and suggested that the shinobi could escape its next attack using the Reverse Summoning Technique, and Hiruzen Sarutobi agreed to return to the battlefield.
  • Tsunade told Nawaki that Jiraiya was dead, and a soft green glow began shining from Nawaki’s body.

Ch. 115Hiruzen Sarutobi Joined the Battle

Tsunade discovered that Nawaki had a trace of vitality that might let him awaken Wood Release, while Hiruzen Sarutobi appointed Shimura Danzō Acting Hokage and left for the Iwagakure front. Hiruzen arrived to find Konoha’s forces badly wounded and withdrawn, and Minato Namikaze was still grieving after learning his master had died in battle.

  • Tsunade sensed a faint trace of vitality in Nawaki and told him to learn Medical Ninjutsu so he could try to awaken Wood Release.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi made Shimura Danzō Acting Hokage but forbade him from recruiting anyone into Root.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi left with Orochimaru and Tsunade for the battlefield while Ōnoki summoned Gari back to face the Yellow Flash.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi questioned Dan Katō about the retreat, then ordered the wounded Konoha Ninja to rest before the war resumed.
  • Minato Namikaze left the tent after learning through Mount Myōboku that his master had died in battle.

Ch. 116Ōnoki arrives

Ōnoki arrived with Gari, then visited the unconscious Nanako and confirmed she was awakening Wood Release. After Didaze tempered his expectations, Ōnoki helped plan Iwagakure’s next steps, leaving both sides in an uneasy calm.

  • Ōnoki arrived with Gari and warned him not to underestimate Minato Namikaze.
  • Ōnoki went to the medical tent and sensed Wood Release in Nanako’s chakra.
  • Ōnoki celebrated Nanako’s awakening, but Didaze cautioned him that Wood Release would not make her equal to Hashirama Senju.
  • Ōnoki and Didaze agreed Nanako could reach Kage Level and planned to resume the war after the wounded recovered.
  • Konoha and Iwagakure stopped taking the initiative, creating a calm that made Takigakure think the war had ended.

Ch. 117Sunagakure's second offensive

Hatake Sakumo wandered the Land of Rivers, troubled by Madara Uchiha’s Eye of the Moon Plan, while Rasa arrived with Sunagakure’s forces to launch a second offensive against Konoha. Rasa, Pakura, Granny Chiyo, and Ebizo attacked Uchiha Fugaku, and Rasa smiled after forcing him to transform Susanoo’s shield into a blade.

  • Hatake Sakumo wandered the Land of Rivers and worried that Madara Uchiha’s plan would destroy humanity and leave the world without a future.
  • Rasa arrived at the Land of Rivers battlefield with Pakura and joined Granny Chiyo and Ebizo before ordering an attack for the next day.
  • Sunagakure’s ninja charged Konoha’s forces, and Rasa challenged Uchiha Fugaku to fight.
  • Rasa, Pakura, Granny Chiyo, and Ebizo attacked Uchiha Fugaku, who used Susanoo and Form Transformation to defend himself.
  • Pakura prepared a giant fireball, so Uchiha Fugaku strengthened Susanoo and raised a shield, but Rasa grabbed it with a gold dust hand.
  • Uchiha Fugaku transformed the shield into a blade and cut through Rasa’s gold dust hand, while Rasa smiled because Fugaku had given up his shield.

Ch. 118Gold Dust Layer Great Burial

Rasa used nearly all his chakra to seal Uchiha Fugaku and his Susanoo beneath an enormous mass of gold dust. With Fugaku trapped and unable to break out quickly, Rasa ordered his allies to use the time to attack the Konoha ninja.

  • Pakura’s Scorch Release fireball damaged Susanoo, but Fugaku repaired it as Rasa began surrounding him with cutting gold dust.
  • Fugaku struck the ground with a hammer to knock away some gold dust, giving Pakura an opening to hit Susanoo with an even larger fireball.
  • Chiyo and Ebizo attacked the damaged Susanoo with their puppets, but Fugaku activated its armored third stage and formed a sword wreathed in black flames.
  • Rasa gathered the gold dust across the desert and sealed Fugaku inside a massive Gold Dust Layer Great Burial, despite spending nearly all his chakra.
  • Rasa told Chiyo, Pakura, and Ebizo to attack the Konoha ninja while Fugaku remained sealed, and Fugaku found that breaking free would take at least twenty to thirty minutes.

Ch. 119Fugaku Wanted to Defect

Hatake Sakumo intervened when Sunagakure was slaughtering Konoha's forces, forcing Rasa to withdraw. After Uchiha Fugaku was freed, he decided to seek out Hatake Sakumo and consider defecting with the Uchiha Clan.

  • Hatake Sakumo arrived at the battlefield and attacked Rasa, drawing the Konoha ninja's attention.
  • Hatake Sakumo failed to break Rasa's Gold Dust Layer Great Burial, so Rasa ordered Sunagakure's forces to retreat.
  • Hatake Sakumo disappeared into the desert, and the Gold Dust Layer Great Burial dispersed, freeing Uchiha Fugaku.
  • Uchiha Fugaku learned that Hatake Sakumo had driven off Sunagakure and ordered the Konoha ninja to find him.
  • Uchiha Fugaku resolved to meet Hatake Sakumo and defect with the Uchiha Clan if an opportunity arose, while Hatake Sakumo watched the searchers from hiding.

Ch. 120Bunpuku the Monk

Hatake Sakumo decided to meet Uchiha Fugaku after learning the search for him had stopped, while Bunpuku agreed to release Shukaku if he fled the battlefield instead of fighting. Rasa ordered Bunpuku to depart for the battlefield in three days, and Hatake Sakumo arrived at Konoha’s encampment to meet Fugaku.

  • Uchiha Fugaku called off the search for Hatake Sakumo and told his clansmen to retreat if they could not hold out against Sunagakure.
  • Hatake Sakumo left his cave and headed to Konoha’s encampment to meet Uchiha Fugaku.
  • Bunpuku told Shukaku he would let him go free on the battlefield if he fled into the desert without fighting, and Shukaku agreed.
  • Bunpuku stopped Shukaku from attacking a jailer, then went with him to the Kazekage’s Office.
  • Rasa told Bunpuku that Sunagakure needed his power and ordered him to leave for the battlefield in three days.
  • Hatake Sakumo appeared at Uchiha Fugaku’s bedside, and Fugaku greeted him as Lord Sakumo.

Ch. 121Hatake Sakumo's aid

Uchiha Fugaku asked Hatake Sakumo to help the Uchiha Clan defect from Konoha, but Sakumo refused and instead promised to protect them in battle. When Sunagakure returned with Bunpuku and Shukaku, Sakumo held off Rasa, Pakura, Chiyo, and Ebizo while Fugaku prepared to face the One-Tail.

  • Uchiha Fugaku told Hatake Sakumo that the Uchiha Clan wanted to leave Konoha and asked him to lead them, but Sakumo refused because he could not protect them from Madara Uchiha.
  • Hatake Sakumo promised to drive Sunagakure back and keep the Uchiha Clan safe, assigning Fugaku to fight the One-Tail while he faced the other four opponents.
  • Several days later, Rasa brought Bunpuku and Sunagakure's army back to confront Konoha, and Hatake Sakumo appeared beside Fugaku.
  • Hatake Sakumo broke through Rasa's Gold Dust Wall and fought off Rasa, Pakura, Chiyo, and Ebizo by himself.
  • At Rasa's urging, Bunpuku prepared to release Shukaku, telling him to escape without harming anyone; Shukaku fell silent as Bunpuku explained that he wanted to give him freedom.

Ch. 122Shukaku fled

Shukaku fled the battlefield with Bunpuku while Uchiha Fugaku and Rasa fought to a stalemate, and Hatake Sakumo was held back by three opponents. Shukaku took Bunpuku to an unknown cave and returned to the mental space rather than fully reviving.

  • Bunpuku removed Shukaku’s seal, but Shukaku burrowed into the sand and fled as soon as he emerged.
  • Uchiha Fugaku used Susanoo to attack Rasa, who stayed behind to fight while assigning three opponents to hold off Hatake Sakumo.
  • Rasa pierced Susanoo’s shield with a Gold Dust Spike, then tried to exhaust Uchiha Fugaku’s ocular power with defensive tactics.
  • Uchiha Fugaku and Rasa resumed large-scale attacks, while Hatake Sakumo was kept occupied by fifteen puppets and Pakura’s Scorch Release.
  • Shukaku took Bunpuku to an unknown cave and returned to the mental space instead of seizing Bunpuku’s body to fully revive.

Ch. 123Konoha's surprise attack

Bunpuku reassured Shukaku as Konoha’s front against Iwagakure remained quiet for months, while Hiruzen Sarutobi grew wary of Uchiha Fugaku’s success against Sunagakure. Hiruzen ordered a surprise attack on Iwagakure, whose camp suffered heavy casualties before Didaze and Ōnoki woke and prepared to respond.

  • Bunpuku told Shukaku he was kind, and Shukaku denied caring before lying down in their mental space.
  • Nanako remained unconscious as her life chakra grew denser, while Ōnoki and Didaze waited for success instead of starting a fight.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi heard that Fugaku was holding off Sunagakure and chose not to seek an alliance, wary of Fugaku’s growing strength.
  • Hiruzen ordered Konoha’s Jonin to launch a surprise attack on Iwagakure that night, keeping the plan from lower-ranked ninja.
  • Hiruzen led Konoha’s forces into Iwagakure’s camp and killed many guards, while the first charge wiped out nearly a fifth of Iwagakure’s ninja.
  • Didaze woke Gari, handed him the Exploding Blade Shibuki, and prepared to fight back with Ōnoki.

Ch. 124Minato vs. Gari

Minato Namikaze fought Gari, whose explosive attacks and hardened body countered Minato’s usual kunai tactics. Meanwhile, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Tsunade, and Orochimaru remained locked in a stalemate against Ōnoki and Didaze at Iwagakure’s main camp.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi destroyed Didaze’s Brood Nest with Earth Dragon Flame Flow after the Adamantine Staff’s suction drew the exploding spiders toward it.
  • Gari intercepted Minato Namikaze’s Flying Thunder God Kunai and destroyed Minato’s attacks with the Blast Sword.
  • Minato Namikaze used a Body Flicker attack, but Gari’s exploding Blast Sword forced him to teleport away.
  • Gari hardened his body and threatened to attack Konoha ninja, prompting Minato Namikaze to scatter kunai and search for an opening.
  • Gari’s Ground Explosion destroyed Minato Namikaze’s kunai and drove him out of range, while Minato stayed calm under Gari’s taunts.
  • Ōnoki and Didaze stalemated Hiruzen Sarutobi, Tsunade, and Orochimaru as Didaze avoided using large bombs near Iwagakure’s camp.

Ch. 125Katsuyu Sage

Hiruzen Sarutobi, Tsunade, and Minato Namikaze fought Didaze and Ōnoki, but Didaze injected nanoscale bombs into Katsuyu’s clone and destroyed it. Katsuyu Sage recovered the damaged fragments and lost about one percent of her body, becoming interested in Didaze.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi rode on Katsuyu and attacked Didaze and Ōnoki with Lightning Release.
  • Didaze’s acid-charged C3 destroyed Orochimaru’s Triple Rashomon, but Minato Namikaze’s shadow clone transported Ōnoki’s Dust Release away and was annihilated.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade attacked the airborne enemies, while Didaze became invisible and moved beneath Katsuyu.
  • Didaze injected nanoscale bombs into Katsuyu, so Tsunade kicked Hiruzen Sarutobi away and jumped clear before Katsuyu exploded.
  • Katsuyu Sage recalled the tiny fragments of her clone and discovered that Didaze had taken about one percent of her body mass.
