Chapter 15
Chu Han shook her head. "I don't know either, sweetheart."
[Hmm? A new filming location? They're already keeping us in suspense?]
[When today's task was to restore the farm to how it was, I figured they wouldn't be coming back next time.]
[Why isn't anyone reminding them about the four-piece bedding set? I'm dying here.]
[Four-piece bedding set: woohoo, we're free~]
Everyone walked to the farm gates and counted down until they opened so they could leave.
Bo Yiming urged Xingxing, "You have to call your big brother, okay?"
Xingxing said nothing.
Wen Cishu rubbed the child's head. "Yiming, Xingxing might be pretty busy too, you know?"
Xingxing looked up. "Uncle, I'm not busy."
Wen Cishu paused, realizing he had misunderstood. "Oh, I see. All right."
Bo Yiming proudly lifted his chin. "Little Dad, see how much Xingxing likes me?"
Wen Cishu recalled the original novel's story, his phoenix eyes narrowing slightly.
-These character relationships seem to be getting more and more complicated.
Half a minute later, the farm gates opened, and a cameraman appeared with his camera on his shoulder.
The show's PD prompted them, "Please say goodbye to the viewers. See you all next episode~"
On the livestream, the viewers could clearly see each group of guests walking hand in hand past the camera.
When it was Wen Cishu's turn, Bo Yiming rose onto his tiptoes to block the camera and said earnestly, "Everyone, remember to like me and vote for me, okay? Then I can debut."
Wen Cishu: "..."
Laughter filled the space between the guests and staff ahead of them.
[You little rascal, you're blocking your little dad, my wife! I'm so mad! That was the last shot, aaaaaah!]
[Mingzai!! You're already nine! Be more sensible!]
[What kind of voting do you think this show has, you little punk?]
[Hahahaha, I was holding my thick yogurt bowl and nearly choked laughing.]
The company cars and family vehicles picking up the three celebrity guests were all parked in another area.
They weren't chatting with one another, but all of them happened to notice the ultra-luxurious RV and the black sedan.
Inside one car were Zhou Xu's assistant and driver.
The driver asked curiously, "Are they with the production team?"
The assistant said, "I just asked someone from the production team. They said they're little Yiming's family. Apparently, they never left yesterday. They've been parked there the whole time."
The driver was astonished. "They waited all night?"
The assistant nodded. "I think little Yiming and his dad must come from a very privileged background. But they're both so casual. They don't put on any airs at all."
In the entertainment industry these days, there were far too many people who became arrogant as soon as they had a little money. The wealthy keeping a low profile was surprising instead.
The driver laughed. "Then why does little Yiming need the viewers to vote for him? He could just have his family arrange his debut. This kid... he's pretty funny."
The assistant recalled the impassioned speech Bo Yiming had given Zhou Xu that afternoon. Zhou Xu's expression had been somewhat complicated at the time.
"I wonder if Xu took any of it to heart."
The driver said nothing. Zhou Xu had been in a slump these past two years.
A few words from a child couldn't possibly change that, but what if they did?
They all held on to a faint sliver of hope.
While the driver was lost in thought, the assistant suddenly slapped him hard, startling him.
"Look! Look! That must be little Yiming's big dad, right?!"
The driver quickly craned his neck to look. Through a row of green trees, he saw a tall man in a black suit wearing a black face mask.
Above the mask were thick brows and deep-set eyes, imposing and solemn. His bearing and presence were unmistakably those of someone in authority.
As the slender Wen Cishu slowly walked over, the man also approached him, his gaze resting intently on his face.
There was a noticeable difference in their heights and builds, and their temperaments were completely different. One glance made people want to take a closer look.
Behind Wen Cishu, Bo Yiming bounced along.
Farther back, bodyguards and assistants wheeled the luggage.
Besides that man, several other people whose identities were unclear stood outside the RV, all welcoming them with smiles.
The driver clicked his tongue. "They brought so many people?"
Just as he finished speaking, the two of them saw another unexpected sight.
After approaching, the tall masked man bent down and scooped Wen Cishu up into his arms, then turned and stepped into the luxurious RV.
His movements were so effortless and fluid that he had clearly done this many times before.
No one around them looked at all surprised, which could only prove they were all used to it.
That included Bo Yiming, who still hopped right into the vehicle.
The assistant turned to the driver. "Did you see that?"
The driver was incredulous. "I wasn't seeing things, was I? They... they're that close?"
Inside the vehicle.
After Wen Cishu was carried into his seat, Bo Tingyuan took his hand. As Bo Tingyuan sat down, their hands came to rest on the armrest between the two seats.
Bo Tingyuan had large hands, his palms thick and warm, but what drew Wen Cishu's attention most was the plain band of intertwined gold and platinum on his long ring finger.
Perhaps because he had worn it for so many years, time had given the ring a distinctive understated warmth.
This was the first time Wen Cishu had taken such a proper look at the ring.
Where was his own wedding ring?
Why did he have no recollection of it at all?
Wen Cishu's fingertips moved slightly, and the hand holding his tightened. The warmth of their palms pressed together made him pause.
Up front, Bo Yiming was telling Grandpa Xu about the show. His voice wasn't shrill, and it lent a lively atmosphere.
The two husbands in the back, however, were exceedingly quiet.
Wen Cishu glanced at his profile out of the corner of his eye. Nothing to say now that he's seeing me in person?
Wasn't he quite good with words when he was messaging me on his phone last night?
Bo Tingyuan noticed his expression. "Are you too tired? Have a rest when we get back."
He was no different from usual.
Simply a perfect partner who cared deeply about his other half.
Wen Cishu tilted his face slightly, looking into the deep, lake-green eyes behind his lenses. "You..."
Perhaps because he had yet to decide what to say, his voice was as soft as an evening breeze.
Bo Tingyuan gazed at his softly contoured face and those slightly upturned phoenix eyes, taking the initiative to lean a little closer.
Just then, Bo Yiming suddenly popped up in front. "Big Dad!"
"Hmm?" Bo Tingyuan's brows drew together slightly. He answered in a low voice and leaned back against his seat again.
Wen Cishu seemed to hear irritation at being interrupted in that brief response. Strangely, he felt a little guilty, as though caught doing something wrong, and turned to look out the window.
Bo Yiming leaned over the seat back and looked at his two dads behind him, suddenly acting coy as he wheedled, "Big Dad, Grandpa Xu said you invited Master Chen over to make roast goose at home."
Bo Tingyuan said, "Yes, so sit properly. We're leaving for home right away."
Wen Cishu was about to look at his son, but another hand firmly pushed apart the fingers resting between the seats. Then five fingers slowly slipped between his own, interlocking with them.
In his ears was Bo Tingyuan's serious voice as he spoke to their son, while the delicate, sensitive skin between his fingers brushed against Bo Tingyuan's skin and ring. An unexpected, unfamiliar feeling arose in his heart.
"Okay!" Bo Yiming happily plopped back into his seat. "We're going home for roast goose~"
Bo Tingyuan turned to look at the person beside him, who seemed absorbed in the scenery outside. The line of his neck was fair and sensual, a few strands of hair adorning it and leaving a small mole on its side half hidden.
His gaze lingered on the little mole for a long time. Finally, he raised his right hand and lightly touched the silky-smooth skin with his fingertips.
"Hmm?" Wen Cishu felt his fingertips brush his skin, lifting his hair and tucking it behind his ear.
When he turned his head, his gaze met Bo Tingyuan's.
Whenever those jewel-like green eyes gazed at him with such complete focus, Wen Cishu always had the powerful illusion that he was about to drown in them, and even his breathing began to falter.
Bo Tingyuan shifted his gaze to his faintly tired brow and said quietly, "Get some sleep first when we get back."
Wen Cishu's slightly suspended heart settled once more. "Oh."
After that lukewarm response, he closed his eyes. Still annoyed, he couldn't help tugging his hand back.
Instead, his right hand was pulled straight over to rest on Bo Tingyuan's thigh.
Wen Cishu felt the pad of the man's thumb stroking back and forth over the back of his hand, intimate and suggestive.
He abruptly remembered something important that he had nearly forgotten.
In the original novel's setting, Bo Tingyuan had a hidden ailment.
Wen Cishu had never learned of this illness, even by the time he died, and even Bo Yiming didn't know about it.
Wen Cishu's heart filled with mixed feelings. Just what was this hidden ailment?
Chapter 15
Not long after the show ended, Zhou Xu posted a photo of the four children pulling radishes on Weibo.
Beneath the clear blue sky, every adorable little face brimmed with carefree joy.
Zhou Xu captioned it: [Our Xiao Qi now has his own happy little photo too. @Singer Zhu Wei
@Actress-Chu Han, Yiming (aren't you aiming to become a huge star, kid? How about opening a Weibo account first? [beckoning finger][beckoning finger]]
[Is this the one taken with the kids' smartwatch on the show? Mingzai's dad has some photography skills too.]
[A true big shot can do it even with a kids' smartwatch? Slowly drops to knees.]
[When I saw my wife looking for an angle to shoot from, I knew it would be something special. Sure enough!]
[Enough hindsight talk! (Calling out to Mingzai: open a Weibo account! Post selfies of you and your little dad! Preferably with your big dad too...)]
[Mingzai, we can only vote for you once you have Weibo. Hurry up and make an account.]
Afterward, Zhu Wei and Chu Han also shared the same photo on their Weibo accounts.
Chu Han, who was usually rather quiet, added an unusually large number of smiley faces in particular, as though happy that Xingxing could fit in with the other children.
Before long, an image appeared in Zhou Xu's comments, tagging him as well.
Because the image was so funny, fans and viewers of the show took it around to every guest's comments section.
