Chapter 6
Huh? Did he urgently need the bathroom?
Chapter 6
The first episode of the new season of "Little Ones Are Supermen"
was now streaming
live.
Fans of the little ones, parent-child variety shows, and the celebrity guests had all arrived right on time.
The show's host was introducing the location for this episode.
It was a garden farm on the outskirts of the city, with a lake and fields.
The drone camera looked down on the peaceful land from above.
Half the farm curved around the lake, while the other side featured tall, straight fir trees and a large garden with more than a dozen varieties of flowers swaying in the breeze.
Golden ears of wheat swayed in a small rice paddy. Free-range chickens, ducks, and other poultry and livestock roamed the lawn, while ripe orange, red, and yellow fruit dotted a large orchard.
Four natural-wood-colored cabins with sloping roofs that reached the ground came into view, their doors all facing an open central courtyard.
As the camera swept quickly over the cabins and courtyard, viewers could clearly see that these were where the four groups of guests would rest and prepare their three daily meals.
[Wow, the farm looks so lovely in autumn.]
[Are the guests here on vacation? Another paid holiday for the 2.08-million-a-day crowd?]
[Looks average, and I'm not interested in the celebrities either. I'm out.]
[I'll wait until all the guests show up before deciding.]
As viewers began leaving comments and discussing the show, the first pair of guests appeared.
It was Zhu Wei, a female singer known for her artistic, innocent image, and her five-year-old daughter, Rongrong.
Mother and daughter both wheeled suitcases along, smiling and waving at the camera.
Rongrong stayed close to her mother, unsure which camera to look at and looking a little nervous.
[Rongrong looks so much like her mom~ Such a pure, fresh aura. She'll be an artsy goddess too someday~]
[Guessed at first glance that Rongrong was Zhu Wei's daughter. Those features are practically copy-pasted.]
The second guest was Zhou Xu, a member of a boy band.
The little one in his arms was only about four years old and was named Xiao Qi.
Round-headed Xiao Qi stared straight at the cameraman with huge, saucer-like eyes, never looking away or blinking.
[Oh my, Xiao Qi, what's going on? Don't you blink?]
[Xiao Qi is actually Zhou Xu's kid? I thought he was from the non-celebrity family. Sorry, sweetie, auntie apologizes.]
Zhu Wei and Zhou Xu had performed on the same stage before and were old acquaintances of sorts, so they began chatting quietly as soon as they met.
The third pair of guests appeared: Chu Han, wearing sunglasses, and her seven-year-old son, Xingxing. She waved and joined them enthusiastically. "Hello, we're here!"
Chu Han had won a Best Actress award right at her debut. After marrying her first love at a young age, she had stepped away from acting for several years and kept a very low profile.
It was a rare occasion indeed for her to bring her son onto a show.
[Ugh, I'll never understand why Chu Han married so early.]
[Xingxing is seven? He doesn't look it. Why is he about as tall as my six-year-old nephew?]
[I'm devastated. I guessed completely wrong. I thought Xingxing was a non-celebrity's kid. (Whispers: he didn't inherit Chu Han's looks.]
[He hasn't grown into his features yet. Kids' looks aren't set at six or seven anyway. Give him time, give him time.]
[Yiming, the oldest and best-looking of the little ones, is actually from the non-celebrity family?]
[That tall, gorgeous mom in the parents' teaser looked so elegant. No surprise she'd have a kid like Yiming.]
While viewers were deep in discussion, Bo Yiming came bouncing excitedly toward the camera, pushing two enormous suitcases.
Behind the exuberant boy, a figure approached slowly, wearing a black, wide-brimmed sun hat and pushing another enormous suitcase.
[I seriously can't take my eyes off Yiming's mixed-race good looks. I want a handsome son!]
[Me too. I'd send him off to model at three so he could earn money to support me. (Devilish whisper.]
The figure in the somewhat distant shot wore a linen shirt with a deep V-neck and an especially loose, flowing hem.
Although his face was still indistinct, his tall, slender figure already conveyed an unmistakably elegant, refined air.
The on-screen introduction read [Yiming]/[Yiming's dad].
[Holy crap, it's his dad! I caught a glimpse of waist-length hair in the teaser, jet-black and absolutely gorgeous.]
[Guessed wrong. I thought it was his mom! But I'm suddenly developing a strange interest. Anyone get me?]
[Hahaha, same...]
As the figure slowly approached the camera, a gust of wind lifted the hem of his shirt.
Far away on the screen, a line of birds rose from the fir woods beneath blue skies and white clouds.
At last, viewers could see the porcelain-white cheeks and well-defined jaw beneath his hat brim.
As he raised a hand to push back his hat, his slightly upturned phoenix eyes added a stunning brilliance to his already flawless face.
In an instant, screams flooded the livestream screen, enough to obscure the camera's view.
[AAAAAAAAAAAH]
[Oh my god! A gorgeous dad?]
[Do beautiful people come with their own atmosphere and background music? Wasn't that shot ridiculously fresh and artistic?]
[Am I hallucinating? The production team calls someone this breathtakingly gorgeous a non-celebrity?]
[Agents in Chinese entertainment, are you blind? A classical beauty like this, truly impossible to distinguish as male or female, and he hasn't debuted?]
[Don't doubt it. They've all been blind for ages.]
Among the guests, Zhu Wei looked at the newcomer and voiced the viewers' question in astonishment. "You're... the child's father?"
Beside her, Chu Han had been about to drink some mineral water, but her hand froze.
She looked at the five-foot-tall boy with equal astonishment. "You're nine, sweetheart?"
How could anyone believe that a young man who looked barely into his twenties was the father of a nine-year-old?
Everyone was stunned.
Bo Yiming had been excited ever since waking up that morning, and now that he was officially on the show, his spirits soared even higher. He nodded vigorously. "Yep! Hello, Auntie!"
Zhu Wei's daughter, Rongrong, tilted her little head back and gazed blankly at this adult whose beauty exceeded anything she knew, asking in bewilderment, "Mommy, what should I call him?"
Xiao Qi, who had been nestled in Zhou Xu's arms, leaned over too, blinking his eyes. "What about Xiao Qi?"
"This is my little dad." Bo Yiming glanced back and forth and scratched his head. "You can call him..."
Sweet, adorable Xiao Qi gazed at the gentle Wen Cishu with his grape-like eyes, opened his mouth, and called in a babyish voice, "Little Dad?"
Rongrong was the first to laugh. "Pfft..."
Then she shyly leaned closer to her mother.
Everyone laughed.
[Coming straight out of the gate with the big move of claiming the beauty as your father, huh?]
[All right, all right. Just what you'd expect from a four-year-old who's unapologetic even about wetting the bed.]
[Did anyone catch Zhou Xu's staggered expression? Five minutes into the show and his son's about to run off... I'm dying.]
Zhou Xu had never expected his little son to call him that and quickly lowered his head. "Xiao Qi, you can't just call anyone Dad. This is your big brother Yiming's dad."
"Just call me Uncle." Wen Cishu looked at the two children with a faint smile. "Hello, Rongrong. Hello, Xiao Qi." Then he turned to the quieter seven-year-old boy. "And hello to you too, Xingxing."
Xingxing nodded politely.
He noticed the loose strands of hair that had fallen from beneath the uncle's hat, and a flicker of puzzlement crossed his eyes.
While the guests were getting acquainted, the farm gates slowly closed.
The show's PD waved frantically. "Goodbye, guests! We'll come pick you up tomorrow afternoon!"
"Huh?"
Zhou Xu looked over in confusion. Not a single member of the production team was anywhere in sight.
"Are we staying here on our own?"
This was Chu Han's first live reality show, and she was particularly surprised. "There's really nobody here? What about the game rules?"
Xingxing, who had kept his head lowered all this time, suddenly spoke. "Mom, this isn't a game. It's an observational show about daily life."
He casually pointed in several directions. "They're filming everywhere."
[Huh? But... when the camera swept over the kitchen just now, there was nothing in it.]
[Shouldn't they give everyone money? What are they going to eat?]
[A farm survival challenge? Don't tell me they have to kill the chickens and ducks themselves?]
[Wow, a simple, no-nonsense setup. I like it!]
No sooner had Xingxing finished speaking than a figure taller than him suddenly bounded over.
Bo Yiming said enthusiastically, "Little brother Xingxing, you're amazing!"
Xingxing glanced at the handsome older boy and stepped back, a slightly guarded look in his eyes.
Chu Han explained on his behalf, "Yiming, Xingxing is rather introverted. Please don't take it personally."
Xingxing's lips twitched slightly to one side, as though he didn't quite agree with his mother.
Bo Yiming shook his head. "That's fine. I'm really outgoing." He turned his head and asked, "Right, Little Dad?"
Wen Cishu smiled and nodded. "Yes, our Yiming is outgoing, cheerful, and lively."
"Hehe!" Hearing his little dad's words, Bo Yiming proudly lifted his chin.
[What's this kid showing off for?]
[Yiming is so expressive. I love him.]
[You'd love him even if he weren't. (You're here for his face. I know.]
[Hahahahaha, I'm dying. Same here...]
Outside the farm, a road led to a villa that served as the entire production team's temporary workplace.
In the parking lot near the farm were two silver-gray luxury vans and a black private sedan.
After speaking with the production staff, Albert walked back to the van.
Only once they had watched him get in did several staff members begin talking.
"Did you see that really tall man wearing a black face mask?"
"You mean the one little Yiming called Big Dad?"
"Yeah. I took a close look just now. Is he a foreigner? His eyes looked greenish in the sunlight."
"Yiming already said his dad is first-generation mixed-race, and he's a quarter. There's still a difference."
"Oh, I see."
Everyone had assumed this Mr. Bo had come specifically to drop Wen Cishu and Bo Yiming off for filming, but unexpectedly, he had never left.
