Clone No. 3 breaks through
Just as Xing Yao was immersed in boundless imaginings about the future of clones No. 5 and No. 6, a crucial question suddenly flashed through his mind. His gaze abruptly sharpened, and he hurriedly looked toward Clone No. 1, his tone carrying a hint of urgency and anticipation.
"Oh, right! I just thought of the most important question-can I still copy your abilities now?"
The moment he finished speaking, Xing Yao hesitated no longer. He immediately focused his mind, marshaled the Resentment Points he had accumulated for so long, and activated his copying ability directly on Clone No. 1's Law of Space ability.
The next second, a vast, pure surge of Law of Space power flooded madly into Xing Yao's original consciousness through the mental link between them!
Teleportation, Spatial Blade, Spatial Wormhole... crystal-clear insights into one spatial skill after another were instantly branded into the depths of his soul, merging perfectly with his own power!
Xing Yao's eyes flew open, bursting with incredulous delight, and he cried out involuntarily:
"It worked! I really can copy them! I can even perfectly copy your Law ability after your advancement!"
But before he could enjoy his delight for long, a hollow sensation came from within his mind-
His Resentment Points had been drained dry in an instant, leaving not even a scrap behind. The wild delight on Xing Yao's face instantly froze, and the smile at the corners of his mouth collapsed.
It was as though a basin of ice water had been thrown over him. His pupils contracted slightly, his features scrunched tightly together at the painful expense, and his hands instinctively clutched his chest, as though he was about to faint on the spot from heartache.
"They're... they're gone?!"
"The Resentment Points I spent so long saving... were actually emptied in an instant? Not even a scrap left?!"
Xing Yao wanted to cry but had no tears. He kept sucking in breaths from the heartache, his steps turning somewhat unsteady as he looked at Clone No. 1 with both love and hate.
That was the nest egg he had painstakingly saved through countless battles, harvesting enormous amounts of resentment! He had planned to keep it for emergencies, for improvements, for all sorts of preparations, yet just like that, it was all gone!
He drew a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. Even his fingertips trembled slightly from the heartache, his face filled with reluctance and pain at the expense, yet he had no choice but to accept this reality.
"Although... although I copied your complete Law of Space ability, and it really was a massive win..."
"But that cost way too many Resentment Points! My heart is killing me!"
Xing Yao clutched his chest, looking as though he had nothing left to live for. His eyes, which had been shining with excitement just moments ago, now held nothing but heartache and regret, and he stood there for a long time, unable to recover.
Watching Xing Yao's features twist with heartache, his brows tightly furrowed, the corners of his mouth sagging into a bitter curve, and his whole figure drooping as though he was about to shut himself away on the spot, Clone No. 1 really could not hold back. He gave a light cough to suppress the smile on his face, then slowly stepped forward, attempting to offer a few words of comfort.
"Um... original, don't be too upset."
Clone No. 1 scratched the back of his head, his tone somewhat awkward but sincere as he looked earnestly at Xing Yao. "Think about it carefully. You directly copied my complete Law of Space ability. You got all those top-tier skills-Teleportation, Spatial Blade, and Spatial Wormhole. No matter how you look at it, this was a massive win, not a loss at all. Really."
Xing Yao hung his head, his shoulders slumping weakly, as though all his vitality had been sucked away. He gave a feeble grunt through his nose, lacking even the strength to look up at Clone No. 1. His heart and mind remained mired in the agony of his Resentment Points being completely emptied. That was the nest egg he had painstakingly accumulated over countless days, toiling day and night without rest, and it had vanished in a single instant. Anyone would have found that hard to accept.
Seeing this, Clone No. 1's eyes shifted slightly, as though he had suddenly thought of a brilliant idea. His tone instantly turned solemn, and with utmost seriousness, he offered a practical suggestion:
"How about... you just make a few computers here in this mental world?"
Xing Yao abruptly raised his head, his eyes wide and round, his face filled with bewilderment and astonishment. He froze on the spot, unable to react for a long while, and instinctively uttered a single word: "Huh?"
Seeing this, Clone No. 1 immediately continued with perfect confidence, his tone forceful and his logic sounding particularly coherent:
"Look, when we're here in this mental world, we're either burying ourselves in cultivation or staring blankly into space with nothing to do. We have way too much free time! If we had computers, we could play games and watch things to pass the time. That would be much better than squatting on the ground playing with mud like before, right? Besides, with something to do, next time we wouldn't get so bored that we nearly forgot all the important business..."
At these words, Xing Yao abruptly went rigid. Blood surged in his chest, and a sweet taste rose in his throat. He was so furious that he nearly spat blood on the spot.
He raised a trembling hand, pointing straight at Clone No. 1. His finger shook wildly from extreme anger and heartache, and even his breathing grew rapid and heavy. His expression was both pained and furious, his features twisting under this double blow, and his voice carried heart-rending grievance and rage:
"You... you heartless wolf! You won't even spare my last bit of savings, or my wallet, will you?!
You sucked my Resentment Points dry in one gulp, leaving not even a scrap, and now you still have the gall to ask me for computers and empty out the reserves of my mental world too!
So, inside and out, you alone are going to squeeze every last bit of my savings dry, leaving nothing at all, is that it?!"
Upon hearing this, Clone No. 1 immediately raised his brows and retorted with a completely innocent expression, his tone utterly self-assured and without the slightest guilt:
"You can't put it like that! You were the one who insisted on copying my ability. I didn't force you. What does your running out of Resentment Points have to do with me? Now I'm just asking you to make a few computers. Do you have to be so stingy?!"
Just as Xing Yao was trembling all over with anger at Clone No. 1, his chest heaving violently, and an argument seemed about to erupt on the spot, the entire mental world of his consciousness suddenly began shaking violently without warning!
Violent ripples spread through the void beneath their feet, and the power of Laws surged wildly through the air. The previously tranquil mental space was like water struck by a massive boulder, raising towering waves. In the distance, clouds of energy churned madly, and golden Law radiance poured down from the horizon, illuminating the entire mental world. Even the air hummed faintly.
The curses on the tip of Xing Yao's tongue abruptly caught in his throat. His body instinctively paused, and the anger on his face was instantly replaced by intense shock, his eyes widening into circles.
Clone No. 1 also immediately dropped his self-assured air and whipped his head toward the brightest light, his gaze filled with surprise and disbelief.
The two blurted out almost simultaneously:
"Are these... the fluctuations of a breakthrough?!"
The next second, an imposing, steady aura shot skyward from the depths of the mental world, like a mountain awakening abruptly from ten thousand years of slumber, its oppressive might spreading in all directions-Clone No. 3 had successfully broken through to the Second Tier!
