After making a full circuit, they had not encountered any danger. Instead, they found Zhou Deng in the old forest, nearly buried in the dirt. He was not dead, still alive, and seemed to have used some special method to preserve his life.
But he had paid a price.
Zhou Deng, who was always looking to profit, had lost a white lantern.
Clearly, he had gone through something extremely dangerous. Otherwise, with his personality, how could he bear to give up something already in his hands?
But Zhou Deng seemed deeply afraid of this place. He did not linger and instead urged everyone to leave quickly and return to the old house first.
Although everyone was puzzled, no one objected.
After all, Zhou Deng had been wandering outside for so long. He definitely knew more about the situation than they did.
Very soon.
Everyone returned to the gates of the old house.
Only then did Zhou Deng let out a slight sigh of relief.
"You're very afraid of that old forest." Seeing him like this, Yang Jian roughly guessed what was going on.
"You saw that there was something wrong with that old forest too, didn't you?" Zhou Deng said.
"I didn't see anything," Yang Jian said. "Some instinct told me that place was very dangerous, so I wasn't stupid enough to venture deep into that old forest. Even if I was curious, I would restrain that death-seeking impulse. Don't tell me you went into that old forest?"
The others looked at Zhou Deng.
It seemed Yang Jian's guess was correct. Zhou Deng had most likely entered that old forest, or else how could his body have appeared there?
"That isn't a normal old forest. It's a ghost forest," Zhou Deng said seriously, lingering fear still visible on his face.
