Arc 2The Druid Beyond the Wall

Aermir tested his combat skills, journeyed beyond the Wall to seek animal companions, and fought off a Wildling band tracking Erebus. He reached the Woer Tribe and used a healing ritual to treat its sick, leaving Chief Woer willing to seek his help.

  • Aermir survived repeated fights against bandits in Infinite Training, learned to control its settings, and later used the weirwood network to travel between trees before leaving Winterfell with his familiars.
  • Aermir convinced Eddard and Ser Rodrik to test him against twenty young knights in the Wolfswood, where he used magic, archery, and the terrain to defeat them.
  • Aermir traveled north to the Wall, discovered its runes and arcane power, then crossed beyond it and searched for animal companions in the bitter cold.
  • Aermir failed to bond with an adult Shadowcat but found a wolf cub and bonded with a Shadowcat cub, naming her Sith.
  • Gornard Tresky tracked Aermir through Erebus, and Aermir ambushed the Wildling band, killing several before questioning Gornard about Direwolves.
  • Aermir named the wolf cub Lika and reached House Wull, where he sparred with Chief Woer and impressed him with his bow and fighting skills.
  • Emre returned to the Woer Tribe disguised as Druid Emre, offered to treat its fever-stricken people, and performed a healing ritual that helped fifty patients.
  • Emre asked for another sheep and three days to conduct the next ritual, while Chief Woer decided that enlisting his help was better than opposing him.
Chapters 26–50 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 26New Level Two Spells

After killing the last bandit and burying the caravan victims, the narrator discovered six new level two spells and headed back to Winterfell with the horses and valuables. His return ended with Rodrik scolding him after the guards questioned his unusually large convoy.

  • The narrator immobilized and tortured the final bandit, then had Bo and Erebus summon birds to kill him.
  • The narrator resisted investigating the trembling membrane linked to his transformation, buried the caravan victims, and gathered the survivors' horses and valuables.
  • After resting in a tree and eating a rabbit, the narrator received information about six level two spells: Eludo Jelmio, Perzys Egros, Nocturvisio, Inanis Motu, Protego Narys, and Mino Depuro.
  • The narrator returned to Winterfell with nine horses, where the guards questioned him and Rodrik scolded him.

Ch. 27Familiars growing smarter

After Aermir defended a merchant caravan from bandits, Rodrik scolded him, and Aermir spent time with his familiars and Arya before going to sleep. He woke from nightmares to practice magic, where he was suddenly impaled by a spear and a sword.

  • Rodrik angrily scolded Aermir for confronting the bandits, and Aermir defended his choice while claiming he had injured his hand by falling.
  • Rodrik questioned Aermir’s archery skill, and Aermir explained that he practiced by hunting frightened rabbits and rats.
  • Im asked Aermir to let him hunt in the Godswood, while Aermir reflected that his familiars were becoming more intelligent over time.
  • Aermir played with Berus and Arya, then returned to his room and used Vocadyni (Summon Beast) to bring Im back from the Godswood.
  • Aermir woke from nightmares about the bandits and began meditating in his training space, where a spear pierced his chest and a sword pierced his shoulder.

Ch. 28Fighting in the Space

After being killed in the training space, the narrator repeatedly returned to the white room and found himself fighting the bandits who had murdered him. He used spells, weapons, and enhanced attributes to thin their numbers, but several enemies remained as his mana ran low.

  • The narrator returned to the white room after dying and was stabbed again by the bandit leader before another bandit struck him down.
  • He returned once more and defended himself from a group of bandits with Quersumby (Oak Shield), then used Sambrar (Fog Cloud) to hinder their attacks.
  • The narrator cast Letagon (Entangle) and Tegonden (Earth Shards), killing one bandit and badly injuring another.
  • He boosted his strength and speed with Volhen Keli (Aspect of the Cat) and volhen gryves (Aspect of the Bear), then tripped and wounded several charging bandits.
  • The narrator killed two bandits with jelmāz renigon (Lightning Touch) and threw his dagger into the forehead of a hopping, injured bandit, while six healthy enemies and another injured enemy remained.

Ch. 29The training space's new function

The narrator discovered that Infinite Training could summon copies of enemies he had killed and let him control their behavior and the room’s settings. After testing its commands, he woke from a panic-filled nightmare and fed Im a rat.

  • The narrator fought the bandits in the training space, nearly died to the spearman, and realized the attackers were copies rather than real enemies.
  • He inspected the room and learned that Infinite Training stored copies of enemies, revived him after death, and allowed verbal control over enemies and settings.
  • He tested commands to stop, summon, dismiss, and weaken enemies, then left the training space exhausted.
  • He woke from a nightmare in a panic, calmed himself with mana, and reassured his familiars.
  • He took a rat from a hidden cage and let Im kill and swallow it.

Ch. 30Exploring the crypts

Aermir explored Winterfell’s crypts with Robb, Jon, Sansa, Arya, and Bran, then discovered a mana connection between the red trees after following a mysterious pull to the Godswood weirwood. He learned the trees were sealed and connected across the continent, and sensed that something was watching him.

  • Aermir noticed his maximum mana had risen to 100 and, after reacting fearfully to a horse’s crash, decided to remain in Winterfell while his hand healed.
  • Robb, Jon, Aermir, Sansa, Arya, and Bran explored the crypts, where Robb and Aermir used Jon in a ghost prank that frightened Sansa and Bran.
  • Aermir sensed ancient magic in the crypts and spent a month recovering from nightmares, using mana meditation to calm his mind while hiding that his hand had healed.
  • After waking from a nightmare, Aermir followed a pull to the Godswood and touched the red tree, entering a trance in which he traveled through its roots to the red tree in the Wolfswood.
  • Aermir discovered that the red trees formed a vast network, were sealed, and held sleeping consciousnesses; he also felt that someone was watching him.

Ch. 31Level Three Druid

The narrator broke through to level three as a druid, gaining ritual magic and several new spells, then discovered that his companions had grown and begun speaking more fluently. He tested shapeshifting and slipped out of Winterfell in a Rottweiler form, leaving his plans to establish a base in the Wolfswood for later.

  • The narrator absorbed mana from a weirwood and became a level three druid, gaining three temporary rituals and new spells.
  • He returned to his room and found Bo, Erebus, Berus, and Yimu had grown; Yimu and Berus could now speak in complete sentences.
  • Erebus had accidentally wounded Berus, so the narrator healed the wound with Abra Ruklo and told the companions to make peace.
  • The narrator decided to seek permission in the morning to travel to the Wolfswood and establish a base near its weirwood.
  • He used Figumorfus to become a Rottweiler, then left Winterfell with Erebus, Bo, and Yimu while the gatekeepers let the dogs pass.

Ch. 32Heading to the Wolfswood

The narrator persuaded Ser Rodrik to allow a week-long camping trip, then used buffs to reach the weirwood in the Wolfswood much faster. After building a protective wall around his hut, he entered the training space with his familiars to gain combat experience.

  • The narrator returned to town, changed back into a human, and slept until dawn.
  • He persuaded Ser Rodrik to let him go camping for a week, explaining that Bo and Erebus helped scout for danger.
  • The narrator controlled and enhanced his horse and familiars, then traveled to the Wolfswood and reached the weirwood after fourteen hours.
  • He rested at his hut, then spent four days growing trees and building a wall to protect Berus.
  • With one day left before returning, the narrator entered the training space with his familiars to face his fears and gain combat experience.

Ch. 33Training Familiars

The narrator trained his familiars to fight summoned enemies in a practice room, adjusting the settings so the dummy could feel pain. After Berus was injured and quit, the narrator coached Erebus and Bo on using varied attacks and their claws, then set them to try new tactics.

  • The narrator summoned a defensive dummy and let Berus, Erebus, and Bo attack it while Im asked to join in.
  • The narrator unlocked the pain setting, and the dummy struck Berus in the face, splitting his brow.
  • The narrator stopped the fight and let Berus withdraw while Erebus and Bo chose to continue.
  • The narrator corrected Erebus and Bo for repeatedly targeting the dummy’s eyes and taught them to use their claws and attack blind spots.
  • The narrator told Erebus and Bo to vary their attacks with feints and last-second changes of direction.

Ch. 34Negotiations

After training in the magical combat space, the narrator returned to Winterfell and told Ser Rodrik that he wanted to explore the North. Rodrik refused to let him go because he was too young, and the chapter ended with the narrator proposing a wilderness test against knights.

  • The narrator trained against a dummy while Bo and Erebus practiced fighting, and all three healed after leaving the training space.
  • The narrator decided to explore the North rather than keep traveling back and forth to Winterfell.
  • The narrator told Ser Rodrik he wanted to leave, but Rodrik insisted that it was too dangerous for him to go alone.
  • The narrator argued that he had already killed twelve bandits and needed hardship to grow, while Ser Rodrik weighed his potential against the danger.
  • The narrator proposed a wilderness mock battle against ten or twenty knights and claimed he could defeat at least half of them in an ambush.

Ch. 35A conversation

Rodrik told Eddard Stark that Aermir wanted permission to explore the North, and Eddard agreed to test the boy rather than refuse him outright. Aermir explained how his trained ravens warned him of approaching people, leaving Eddard stunned by his abilities.

  • Rodrik told Eddard that Aermir wanted to explore the North and had proposed facing an ambush by twenty knights.
  • Eddard initially refused, but Rodrik persuaded him that a test with young knights could show whether Aermir was ready.
  • Aermir argued that remaining in Winterfell would make him stagnate and that he needed challenges to grow.
  • Eddard asked how Aermir could avoid an ambush, and Aermir explained that his ravens watched for people and warned him of their approach.

Ch. 36Hunter and prey

Aermir entered a mock battle in the Wolfswood against twenty young knights, using his magic and ravens while keeping his abilities secret. After he ambushed and outmaneuvered the knights, Tom Hall warned them that Aermir was hunting them, but another arrow struck just as the warning was dismissed.

  • Aermir asked Lord Stark and Ser Rodrik to keep his ravens secret, then showed them two large ravens that he had substituted for Bo and Erebus.
  • Lord Stark and Ser Rodrik arranged a mock battle in which Aermir had twenty-five arrows and twenty young knights would try to ambush him in the Wolfswood.
  • Aermir used spells to conceal his tracks, sense the knights, and enhance his movement before circling their flank and shooting three arrows, hitting two knights.
  • Aermir escaped the knights' pursuit as the forest plants opened paths for him, then circled back while they stopped to rest.
  • Tom Hall warned the knights that Aermir had previously evaded Winterfell's best scout and that they were the prey, but another knight dismissed the warning and was hit by an arrow.
  • An arrow struck Tom Hall in the chest as the knights reacted to the hit on his companion.

Ch. 37A one-man army

Aermir used fog, arrows, and close combat to defeat Eddard Stark’s knights one by one. After watching him bring down the last attackers, Eddard realized he was raising a one-man army.

  • Aermir lured the knights into a fog bank, knocked some unconscious, and ran toward Lord Stark and Ser Rodrik's group.
  • Aermir reached Eddard and asked to use the high ground while eleven knights remained.
  • Aermir used a strong wind to guide rapid volleys of arrows, bringing down six knights as they emerged from the fog.
  • The five remaining knights moved between trees for cover, but Aermir shot two more before running out of arrows.
  • Aermir threw smoke bombs and fought the final five knights inside the fog until only he remained standing.
  • Eddard watched Aermir alone on the high ground and thought of him as a one-man army.

Ch. 38Bo Casts Magic

After seven days of traveling through worsening winter weather, the narrator reached sight of the Wall and trained with his familiars. Bo unexpectedly cast a wind spell by copying his fighting style, and he praised her talent.

  • The narrator left Winterfell with Lord Stark's pass and gold, gathered his familiars from the Wolfswood cabin, and began traveling toward the Wall through deepening snow.
  • He used his training space to sleep and practice combining magic with swordsmanship, while building an earthen shelter for his horse each night.
  • On the seventh day, he linked with Bo and flew along the Wall, admiring it before planning to reach it on horseback the next evening.
  • During training, Bo gathered mana in her wings and struck a dummy with a wind spell, knocking it down and caving in its chest.
  • Bo explained that she had copied the narrator because she wanted to be like him, and he told her she had done wonderfully.

Ch. 39The Wall's runes

The narrator trained Bo to use wind magic before traveling to the Wall and discovering that it was protected by arcane power and covered in runes. The Wall’s inscription included one word the narrator recognized: “death.”

  • The narrator taught Bo to use wind tunnels and dive attacks, making her Wind Ball far more powerful.
  • Bo disobeyed the narrator and used her dive attack in the training space, where she crashed into the roof and died before being revived.
  • Fifteen days later, the narrator reached the Wall and checked that no humans were nearby.
  • The narrator thrust a flaming, strengthened sword into the Wall, but the Wall drained its mana, shattered the sword, and began closing the hole.
  • The narrator sensed that the Wall contained pure arcane power and found enormous runes inscribed across it, recognizing only the word “death.”

Ch. 40Find Animal

After studying the Wall’s magic for eight days, the narrator improved his mana and Verification abilities, then crossed Skull Bridge to search beyond the Wall for a beast to bond with. He found no suitable animals or wildlings and settled in an earthen house as the far harsher cold set in.

  • The narrator learned that ley lines powered the Wall and that its magic blocked their flow south, while studying it increased his maximum mana to 175 and improved his buffs and Verification function.
  • He decided to cross the Wall and search for a Shadowcat, wolf, or bear cub, then traveled west toward Skull Bridge with Bo and his familiars.
  • The narrator crossed Skull Bridge and sent Bo and Erebus’s crows to search for Direwolves, Shadowcats, and bears.
  • He followed a stream for five hours and used Promodynes (Find Animal), but found no suitable beasts or wildlings.
  • After nine hours north of the Wall, the narrator built an earthen house to rest and realized the temperature there was far colder than south of the Wall.

Ch. 41Shadowcat

The narrator searched the northern wilderness for a Shadowcat and found an adult one feeding on a wolf. After capturing and knocking it unconscious, he placed his hand on its head to attempt a bond.

  • The narrator used Promodynes (Find Animal) to locate a Shadowcat northeast of him.
  • Bo found the Shadowcat and reported that it was an adult eating a wolf.
  • The narrator reached the Shadowcat, which charged him and broke free of Letagon (Trap).
  • The narrator blasted the Shadowcat into a tree with Jelmio indigo (Wind Blast) and restrained it with Inretio (Entangle).
  • The narrator knocked the Shadowcat unconscious and placed his hand on its head.

Ch. 42Searching for a Cub

Aermir failed to bond with an adult Shadowcat, killed it, and found a wolf cub in its den. He climbed the freezing mountain with the cub and eventually located a Shadowcat mother and cub, then prepared a hidden shelter so he could try to capture the cub without killing its mother.

  • Aermir gave up trying to bond with the unconscious Shadowcat, killed it, and skinned it.
  • Aermir discovered a wolf cub in a rocky den, had Berus retrieve it, and decided to keep it while searching for a Shadowcat cub.
  • Aermir climbed the mountain with the wolf cub, using Promodynes (Find Animal) as the cold and his dwindling mana made the journey increasingly difficult.
  • Aermir found a Shadowcat mother and cub, and Bo scouted them despite struggling against the wind.
  • Aermir used Formotegon (Mold Earth) to build an underground hiding place for his group near the Shadowcats.

Ch. 43Encounter with a Warg

Aermir bonded with the Shadowcat cub Sith and traveled back toward the Wall, where a Warg warrior tried to control Erebus. Aermir sensed the Warg’s party following them and asked Erebus to deal with the eagle scouting him.

  • Aermir trapped the Shadowcat cub, bonded with her, and named her Sith before escaping with Berus.
  • After two days of travel, Aermir and his companions left the mountains and headed toward the Wall while he searched for Direwolves.
  • Gornard Tresky lost his wolf in a failed raid and tried to control Erebus, but Erebus pushed him out of his mind.
  • Aermir sensed the Warg party between him and the Wall, changed direction to evade them, and discovered an eagle following Erebus.
  • Aermir asked Erebus whether he could kill the eagle safely and sensed magic flowing through Erebus’s blood vessels.

Ch. 44Being Tracked

Erebus killed Gornard Tresky’s eagle, severing Gornard’s bond with it and prompting him to pursue the black bird’s master. As the Wildlings tracked the protagonist despite his attempts to evade them, he prepared an ambush with Bo, Erebus, Sith, and Berus.

  • Erebus dived at the eagle, struck it with enhanced strength, and nearly tore its head off.
  • Gornard Tresky lost his beast and, after recovering from the pain, vowed to hunt down the black bird and tame it by following its magical signature.
  • Jorin the Wildling worried that Gornard’s impulsive pursuit could endanger the remaining band, but preferred rebuilding their group over joining another tribe.
  • The protagonist realized that the twenty Wildlings were still tracking him despite his repeated changes of direction.
  • The protagonist dug a concealed pit, assigned Bo and Erebus roles that kept them out of close combat, and spent magic points enhancing himself and his companions while preparing Warding Wind.

Ch. 45Dealing with the Wildling Warband

Aermir ambushed Gonard’s Wildling warband with earth magic and Erebus and Bo’s attacks, then captured Gonard to learn how they had tracked him. After Gonard explained that wargs could follow a beast by its traits, Aermir asked about Direwolves and killed him when his answer confirmed what Aermir suspected.

  • Aermir spotted Gonard’s Wildlings approaching with a polar bear and used Earth Spike to impale several of them.
  • Aermir ordered Bo to attack the bear, and Bo’s attacks crushed Wildlings while the bear survived long enough for Gonard to fall from it.
  • Aermir emerged from underground, killed the wounded bear with lightning, and bound Gonard with roots.
  • Gonard explained that a strong warg could track a beast by sensing its traits, revealing how the warband had followed Erebus.
  • Aermir asked where to find Direwolves, heard that they wandered in rare pairs, and struck Gonard with lightning.

Ch. 46House Wull

Aermir Drasil reached House Wull’s mountain settlement after traveling south from beyond the Wall, hoping to meet the mountain clans. He secured shelter with Hugo Woer and explained that Lord Stark had given him a pass because of his skill with a sword and bow.

  • Aermir left the Warg’s remains behind and continued toward the Wall with Sith and the wolf cub, deciding not to pursue the Wildlings while Bo was exhausted.
  • After a week’s journey, Aermir camped south of the Wall, named the wolf cub Lika, and joked with Berus and Yimu.
  • Aermir arrived at House Wull’s settlement, showed Lord Stark’s pass to the guards, and was brought to Hugo Woer.
  • Hugo offered Aermir lodging and questioned why Lord Stark had given him his sigil, and Aermir said it was a reward for his sword and bow skills.

Ch. 47Sparring with Chieftain Woer

The boy tested his archery against Chieftain Woer, easily keeping him at bay and winning the warm-up. When their serious fight began, the boy used a tree to mislead Woer and ended with an arrow at his throat.

  • Chieftain Woer challenged the boy to spar, and the boy chose a shortbow for their first clash.
  • The boy’s rapid arrows forced Woer to defend with his shield until shots struck his ankle and forehead.
  • Woer agreed to fight seriously and charged as the boy dodged his attacks and ran toward the woods.
  • The boy climbed a tree and shook snow from its branches, making Woer think he was hiding above him.
  • The boy appeared beneath Woer’s shield and pressed an arrow to his throat, telling him he was not in the tree.

Ch. 48Druid-Emre

Emre outmaneuvered Chief Woer in an archery contest and promised to face him in melee when he turned fourteen. After learning the Woer Tribe was suffering from hunger and illness, Emre created a druid persona and returned to offer help in the name of the Old Gods.

  • Emre used the trees and his feline grace to flank Chief Woer and shoot an arrow at his throat.
  • Chief Woer praised Emre’s skill, recognized him as a potential hunter of Arthur Dayne, and arranged a melee when Emre reached his fourteenth Name Day.
  • Emre learned that a poor harvest and dwindling supplies had left the Woer Tribe hungry and vulnerable to sickness.
  • Emre decided to use ritual magic to help the people while concealing his identity behind a druid persona.
  • Emre crafted a plant-covered outfit, mask, platform boots, and staff, then returned to the Woer Tribe and introduced himself as Druid Emre, priest of the Old Gods.

Ch. 49Ritual Magic

Emre used plant magic to convince Chief Woer and the guards to let him enter the settlement and treat House Wull’s sick. He prepared a ritual to heal up to fifty patients at a time, leaving the work unfinished as he began drawing its runes.

  • Emre bent nearby trees into an alcove to demonstrate his power to the guards.
  • Chief Woer arrived with soldiers, questioned Emre’s intentions, and eventually allowed him into the settlement after Emre offered to help the fever-stricken people.
  • Emre explained the rules separating Druid ritual magic from dark magic and requested a sheep for the healing ritual.
  • Emre learned that about 145 people were ill and that he would need three days to treat them in groups of up to fifty.
  • Emre melted snow in a clearing with fire magic, drew a circle in the dirt, and began inscribing runes for healing and protection from death.

Ch. 50Ritual Magic Effects

Emre completed a healing ritual that treated 50 of Chief Woer’s sick clansmen, then told the villagers he would return the next day to help the remaining patients. He burrowed underground to rest while Chief Woer considered how to secure his help.

  • Emre raised a stone pillar, carved runes into it, and performed a ritual that sent green lights over the patients.
  • The ritual treated 50 patients before its power faded, and Emre told Chief Woer he could perform it only once a day.
  • Emre warned the villagers that some patients might still die, then asked to be left alone and said another sheep would be needed for the next ritual.
  • Emre burrowed underground and spoke with Bo and Erebus, telling Erebus to listen to Bo until he returned in three days.
  • Chief Woer reflected that Emre had helped the clansmen and decided it would be better to enlist his help than oppose him.
