Being a Saint since the age of myth
At that thought, he gritted his teeth and lunged at his opponent even faster.
Chapter 26: The enemy blocking their path (part two)
"Wind of Extinction!"
Red did not dodge, instead launching another attack.
In an instant, an enormous dark crow manifested behind him, beating its wings and whipping up one terrifying gale after another.
Wherever the gales swept past, the stones on the ground shattered instantly into countless grains of gravel.
It was impossible to imagine what would happen if winds like those struck a body of flesh and blood.
Facing the attack, Walter of Canes Venatici was clearly more cautious this time. He did not rashly attack, instead using his Cosmo to unleash bursts of speed and evade the terrifying storms as best he could.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The gales howled, ravaging the earth and leaving the already shattered ground even more devastated.
Unfortunately, despite Canes Venatici's best efforts to evade them, the gap in their strength meant that after dodging three storms in succession, he could no longer avoid the fourth.
Boom!
The gale struck him and instantly hurled him into the air, nearly sending him out of sight in the sky.
"Turn to dust, you pathetic Saint!"
Red sneered repeatedly as he looked up at the sky, confident that this blow would finish his opponent.
Yet just then, the enormous phantom of a hunting hound appeared in midair before accelerating into a downward pounce.
Protected by his Cloth, Walter had ultimately withstood his opponent's lethal blow and seized the opportunity to counterattack.
"It seems you celebrated too soon, evildoer!"
"Hunting Bite!"
Before Red could react, accompanied by Walter's cold snort, the enormous hound had already landed and clamped its jaws around the careless Red.
Before their eyes, the hound's hard teeth even crushed the black battle armor he wore, leaving clearly visible cracks across it.
However, Walter was hardly in better shape. Cracks had already appeared in his Canes Venatici Cloth, and wounds split his skin, blood flowing ceaselessly from them and staining half his body red.
"Damn it!"
Caught completely off guard, Red suffered badly. For the moment, he was pinned in place, unable to break free, and could only watch as the hound's teeth sank into his battle armor bit by bit.
My chance!
Seeing this, Wuxin, who had been feigning unconsciousness, immediately perked up and rapidly gathered the power of his Cosmo at his fingertips.
"Sekishiki Meikai Ha!"
While the two remained locked in a stalemate, he swiftly unleashed a lethal strike.
In an instant, three silver streams of energy shot from his fingertips, darting toward Red's back like three nimble snakes.
"Damn that bastard! He woke up at a time like this!" Sensing the sneak attack from behind, Red grew even more furious.
Even now, he still believed that Wuxin had merely happened to awaken at this moment.
Sensing a hint of danger from those silver streams of energy, he completely abandoned any thought of enduring the attack head-on.
Although his strength far surpassed Wuxin's, for some reason, those silver streams of energy gave him a particularly intense sense of danger.
"Get off me!"
At that thought, Red roared, trying to shake Walter off him and then dodge the attack from behind.
Unfortunately, having noticed Wuxin's attack, Walter was hardly going to let him have his way.
"Face judgment, evildoer!"
Walter burned his Cosmo with all his might, desperately suppressing Red's resistance so that he could not break free no matter how he struggled.
Swish, swish, swish!
The silver Sekishiki followed close behind, instantly entering Red's back before piercing out through his chest, bringing his terrified soul with it.
"No-!"
He screamed in terror and tried to escape the Sekishiki's restraints.
Unfortunately, they were both at the Sixth Sense level. Though his raw strength far exceeded Wuxin's, when it came to souls, he was no match for Wuxin at all.
No matter how he struggled, he could not loosen the Sekishiki's hold in the slightest. Instead, Wuxin used it to drag him completely out of his body.
With his soul separated from his body and his consciousness no longer controlling it, Red could no longer resist Canes Venatici's attack.
Crack!
With a sharp crack, the hound's jaws closed completely, biting Red's body clean in two.
Red's life ended there.
Not only that, but with his life ended, Red's soul completely lost its protection, leaving it even more vulnerable to Wuxin's Sekishiki.
"Vanish from this world completely, evildoer!"
Looking at the soul bound by his Sekishiki, Wuxin showed no mercy and immediately moved to grind it to pieces.
"Wait! This fellow clearly ranked higher than that Laus from earlier. Keep his soul, and we might learn more!" Walter of Canes Venatici hurriedly called out to stop Wuxin.
"I overlooked that! Thanks for the reminder!" Realizing this, Wuxin immediately abandoned his intention to grind Red's soul to pieces.
However, even with things having reached this point, Red still had no intention of accepting his fate. Instead, he became even more brazen.
"Damn you Saints!"
"You will never know what sort of being you have provoked!"
"I have already seen your end!"
"Your bodies will be crushed to powder, your souls will be roasted in divine flames, and you will never know rest, howling in agony until the very end of doomsday!"
Wuxin was unperturbed and sneered, "Curses mean nothing to us! Stop wasting your effort!"
Seeing that the battle had ended, Ursa Major brought the captive over to join them and said uneasily, "We should leave here as soon as possible!"
"Ever since this fellow appeared, I've had a very ominous feeling!"
As he spoke, he glanced nervously around.
"Actually, I feel the same way. We should leave as soon as possible!" Wuxin agreed.
Although they had killed the troublesome Red, it had brought him no sense of relief. Instead, he felt increasingly on edge.
"So do I. Let's leave right now!"
Walter did not object and immediately prepared to leave with the other two.
Just then, a sudden tapping of footsteps broke the silence that had returned to the street.
The footsteps seemed to come from very far away. They were soft yet extraordinarily clear, allowing them to hear the changes in sound at the very instant each foot landed.
"Quick, get out of here!"
Wuxin immediately felt every hair on his body stand on end and broke into a run.
Without a doubt, someone even more terrifying had appeared.
Yet the other party's terror far exceeded his imagination.
Those clear footsteps echoed in their hearts, each step landing precisely on their heartbeats and leaving them barely able to muster any strength.
They ran only three steps before they could endure it no longer and collapsed to the ground with a thud.
"Just... who is it?"
Utterly horrified, Wuxin struggled to roll over and looked toward the street behind him.
He could hear clearly that the footsteps were coming from the far end of that street.
He desperately wanted to know who those footsteps belonged to!
Anyone who could suppress all three of them through footsteps alone was certainly no ordinary person. They had to be at least at the Seventh Sense level, and even among those at the Seventh Sense, they would be an extremely terrifying existence!
Chapter 27: The blasphemer
"Lord The Defiler, please forgive my mistake! Give me another chance!" Seemingly recognizing the owner of those footsteps, Red's soul looked toward the end of the street and shouted, his face filled with terror.
The tavern keeper, Laus, recognized him as well and immediately shouted, "Lord The Defiler, please forgive our incompetence!"
Suppressed by the newcomer's footsteps, Wuxin and the others gradually lost their hold over Red and Laus. Before their eyes, the two broke free of their restraints and hurried toward the footsteps, without so much as another glance at Wuxin and the others on the ground.
Seeing this, Wuxin and the others grew even more wary of the owner of those footsteps.
Clearly, Red and Laus were already certain that the three of them could not escape from Wuxin and the others, in the hands of that so-called The Defiler.
Then, as the footsteps drew closer, a tall man likewise clad in black battle armor emerged from the darkness.
He's here!
Wuxin's eyelid could not help twitching.
A layer of black mist shrouded the newcomer's face, making it impossible to see, but judging by his attire, he resembled a young nobleman. Yet he had none of the frailty of an ordinary young nobleman, instead possessing a martial air that made it clear at a glance that he was a capable and accomplished fighter.
What surprised Wuxin even more was that the black battle armor the man wore was not only extremely ornate but also covered a large portion of his body.
In the world of Saints, there was one common piece of knowledge.
The more of the body a suit of battle armor covered, the higher its quality. The comparison between Gold Cloths, Silver Cloths, and Bronze Cloths made this particularly clear.
By his initial estimate, the battle armor worn by The Defiler before him might rival a Gold Cloth!
Red's soul and Laus both fell to their knees at The Defiler's feet, trembling as they begged for forgiveness.
"Please give me another chance, Lord The Defiler!"
"Please forgive us!"
"Trash has no reason to exist!"
The Defiler ignored their pleas and merely stamped his foot lightly, sending a terrifying shock wave spreading outward.
