Immediately afterward, a boom erupted where Manigoldo had planted his feet. The earth split apart, and countless rocks flew up from the ground.

Cancer leaped up just in time, dodging the surprise punch.

"Looks like I've run into an old fossil this time!"

With that taunt, Manigoldo descended from the sky, aiming a heavy stomp at The Defiler on the ground.

Boom!

The cracks in the earth widened, and Manigoldo's stomp made the ground cave in completely, forming a crater over a hundred meters across. The entire street was destroyed, and even many of the houses collapsed.

Fortunately, having noticed Wuxin and the others' earlier battle, the residents nearby had already evacuated. Otherwise, there was no telling how many would have died.

Unfortunately, The Defiler also dodged the blow in time, and Manigoldo's attack achieved nothing.

Immediately afterward, the two Seventh Sense fighters launched into a fierce close-quarters battle.

The gap in strength was too great for Wuxin and the others to follow a battle like this. They could only see two streaks of light, one black and one gold, colliding and tangling across the battlefield, unleashing terrifying explosive shock waves.

After exchanging who knew how many blows, the two finally drew apart and stopped again.

Manigoldo, however, appeared to have come off worse.

Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, and numerous cracks had opened in his Gold Cloth, with pieces even missing from the edges of the armor.

By contrast, aside from looking a little disheveled, The Defiler opposite him showed almost no obvious external injuries.

"Well? Are today's Gold Saints good enough for you?" Wiping the blood from his mouth, Manigoldo continued to challenge him proudly.

"Not bad!"

The Defiler nodded, then sneered. "But that's all!"

"You can die now!"

Instead of engaging in close combat again, he burned his Cosmo, concentrated his power, and unleashed an extremely bizarre attack.

"Elysium!"

Countless beautiful female figures manifested, swaying their graceful bodies as they giggled and flew toward Manigoldo.

Their faces were so endearing that one could not summon the slightest desire to strike them, as though even touching a hair on their heads would be an unforgivable sin.

Wuxin and his two companions were farther away, but they were still inevitably affected by the spillover.

Although they could not see what was happening inside, they could hear those captivating voices.

Ursa Major was the weakest, and his willpower was insufficient to resist such temptation.

His gaze went blank, and a lecherous smile appeared on his face. He kept stripping off pieces of his Cloth as he staggered toward the center of the battlefield.

Walter of Canes Venatici fared better, but he could barely protect himself, struggling to suppress the lust in his heart. He had no strength to spare to stop Ursa Major.

Fortunately, Wuxin still had some self-control after his experiences in the society of his previous world. Once he had barely suppressed his lust, he quickly lunged forward and pinned Ursa Major to the ground.

Chapter 29: The battle stops

Meanwhile, facing The Defiler's killing move, Manigoldo tore the tattered cape from his back and charged forward, laughing.

"If you really think a move like this can kill me, you couldn't be more wrong!"

He clenched his right fist. A pale flame burned over it, rapidly contracting as he compressed it.

Before their eyes, the pale flame changed form, becoming something like light.

"Sekishiki: Soul Burial Wave!"

Manigoldo struck, and the pale light immediately landed on the beauties rushing toward him.

Immediately afterward, pale flames ignited across the bodies of those exquisite beauties.

The flames spread swiftly, covering every inch of Elysium in almost the blink of an eye.

Not only that, but the flames' fierce burning produced explosions.

Using his opponent's Elysium as fuel, Manigoldo completely detonated the attack with Soul Burial Wave.

This was also the only chance of victory he had found after waiting so long.

"How is this possible?!"

Faced with this sudden turn, The Defiler paled in shock, with no time to dodge.

Boom!

With an earthshaking blast, The Defiler was swallowed by the explosion that rolled back toward him. The terrifying shock wave engulfed an area nearly a hundred meters in radius.

Whether stone or steel, almost all matter was annihilated by the terrifying explosion.

"What terrifying destructive power. Is this what a battle between Gold Saints is like?" A chill ran down Walter of Canes Venatici's spine at the sight.

"We won!" Freed from Elysium's influence and restored to his senses, Ursa Major Mike was overjoyed.

"I'm afraid it won't be that simple!" Wuxin remained cautious.

The Defiler was powerful and wore armor comparable to a Gold Cloth. He would not be so easily defeated.

As the explosion's light faded, a blood-soaked, utterly bedraggled figure appeared before them.

The Defiler still stood on the battlefield without falling, but more than half of his armor had shattered. The exposed skin was torn with wounds so deep that bone showed through, and bright red blood flowed constantly from them, staining the ground beneath his feet before their eyes.

"Sure enough, that guy won't die so easily!" Wuxin's heart could not help sinking at the sight.

The Defiler had been gravely wounded by Soul Burial Wave, but Manigoldo was not in much better shape.

Although Soul Burial Wave had the property of growing stronger against stronger opponents, detonating an opponent's attack was no easy feat.

It was like the principle of leverage. No matter how much effort it saved, the user still had to supply some of their own strength. It could not move the other end out of nothing.

Thus, the more powerful the attack he wanted to detonate, the more power he had to put into it himself.

Coupled with the severe injuries from their earlier close combat, Manigoldo was probably nearing his limit as well.

Now, having suddenly suffered such a tremendous setback, The Defiler flew into a rage after catching his breath.

"You bastard!"

"I'll tear your limbs off one by one, then slowly grind you into pulp!"

Even gravely wounded, The Defiler remained imposing, radiating a powerful aura, though it was considerably weaker than at his earlier peak.

Like a wounded beast cornered with no way out, he was going to fight for his life.

"Killing me won't be that easy!"

The reckless smile remained on Manigoldo's face as he slowly raised his slightly trembling right hand.

"Sekishiki Meikai Ha!"

He strained to burn his Cosmo and unleashed another attack.

Three silvery-white currents flew from his fingertips, darting toward his opponent like agile snakes.

Seething with rage, The Defiler raised one hand high and gathered the power of his Cosmo in his palm.

Clearly, he was preparing to use a new technique.

But just then, an unfamiliar sigh suddenly sounded in the air.

"Ah-"

The sigh was soft, yet unusually clear, and it carried far.

Even well outside the battlefield, Wuxin and his two companions heard it perfectly clearly, as though someone were sighing right beside their ears.

In an instant, the hairs on Wuxin and his companions' bodies stood on end, as did Manigoldo's on the battlefield, and goosebumps covered them.

At a time like this, an unfamiliar voice suddenly appearing could very well change the course of the entire battle.

If it belonged to an enemy, things would be even worse.

Immediately afterward, Wuxin and the others saw a dimensional passage suddenly open behind The Defiler. A large hand clad in black armor reached out and settled directly on his shoulder.

"No, I have to kill them-"

Before The Defiler could do anything else, that large hand forcibly dragged him inside.

Whoosh, whoosh!

The silver Sekishiki currents arrived right after him, but they struck only The Defiler's afterimage and failed to keep him there.

Unwilling to give up just like that, Manigoldo immediately directed the three streams of Sekishiki deep into the dimensional passage.

Yet in an instant, he felt his Sekishiki suffer a devastating blow and vanish completely.

Along with the three streams of Sekishiki, the dimensional passage disappeared as well.

Everything fell quiet once more.

"It's... it's over, just like that?" Ursa Major Mike was dumbfounded.

They had thought they would have to endure another bitter battle, perhaps even die here. They had never expected someone to suddenly drag the enemy away. It truly left them baffled.

"It's good that it's over. At least we don't have to die!" Wuxin let out a long, stale breath.

With their strength, the three of them were not remotely qualified to intervene in the battle.

Even gravely wounded, The Defiler could still kill the three of them with ease.

Thus, it was foreseeable that if the battle continued, the three of them would most likely die here.

"Let's hope we don't run into someone like that next time!" Walter of Canes Venatici was also shaken by the close call.

"There's no telling!"

Cancer Manigoldo slowly walked over, casually draping his tattered cape over his shoulder, then said to the three with a playful air, "The Holy War is imminent. We'll only encounter more and more enemies from here on."

"There are quite a few powerful fighters among the Underworld's one hundred and eight Malefic Stars!"

At his words, Canes Venatici's and Ursa Major's hearts sank, and their expressions soured.

Wuxin did not respond to that. Glancing over Cancer's blood-soaked body, he asked with concern, "Senior brother, are your injuries all right?"

"I won't die!"

Manigoldo waved a hand, then added, "We should leave here as soon as possible, in case the enemy comes back!"
