Just then, a group of patrolling ghost wardens approached from ahead, led by a Specter.

"Careful. That fellow's strength is close to upper Silver level. Make sure you keep your aura suppressed!" Wuxin cautioned him.

Unlike the two of them, who deliberately suppressed their auras to conceal themselves, the Specter leading the approaching group released his Cosmo without restraint, allowing Wuxin to gauge his strength with ease.

"Understood, senior!" Tenma nodded.

As the two approaching figures drew closer, Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart frowned slightly.

"Hey, you two! Which part of Hell are you from?" he called, stopping them.

"We're from the Eighth Prison, new subordinates recruited by Lord Heavenly Crying Star Valentine. We're heading to the Sixth Prison on his orders!" Wuxin made up an excuse on the spot.

"New recruits? No wonder I haven't seen you before!"

Elhart nodded, then licked his lips. "No wonder your blood smells so fragrant!"

Hell was the realm of the dead. Even living people who stayed here long enough would be tainted by the aura of death, losing the vibrant aura of the living.

Wuxin's brow twitched at the sight, for this fellow had a taste for blood.

Without his identity as a Specter to conceal him, he would likely have already become the man's prey.

He hurriedly said, "If you have no further instructions, my lord, we'll take our leave! Lord Valentine is still waiting for our report!"

"Go on, go on!" Fighting back his urge to drink blood, Elhart repeatedly waved them away.

"Yes, my lord!"

Wuxin immediately led Tenma away at a brisk pace.

Yet, for some reason, Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart found the vibrant blood within Wuxin exceptionally enticing. He could not tear his eyes away and simply stared fixedly at the two of them.

His stare made Wuxin's scalp prickle, but he dared not do anything too conspicuous. He could only pretend nothing was wrong and quietly walk past Heavenly Longevity Star.

The instant they passed each other, Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart seemed to realize something and shouted, "No! You're not a Specter!"

"You're truly alive! Who exactly are you?!"

As he spoke, he lunged at Wuxin.

In this hellish Underworld, even newcomers who had only just arrived would inevitably be tainted by the aura of death through the power of their Surplices, leaving their blood somewhat less vibrant than that of ordinary living people.

Wuxin, however, was different. Although a dense aura of death surrounded him, his own blood remained exceptionally vibrant, showing no sign of contamination.

Had Elhart not possessed a vampire's innate instincts and particular sensitivity to blood, he could hardly have noticed such a subtle difference.

Chapter 68: Heavenly Longevity Star's Interception (Part Two)

"Damn!"

Tenma cried out in alarm and immediately clenched his fists, ready to fight.

Unfortunately, Heavenly Longevity Star was far stronger than Tenma, who had only just reached Silver level.

He had barely clenched his fists before Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart was already behind them.

Yet, to Tenma's confusion, even now Wuxin showed no intention of fighting back.

It was normal for someone of his own strength to be unable to react in time, but that should not have been the case for Wuxin.

While he was still puzzling over it, Wuxin suddenly spun around and met the attack with a punch.

Bang!

Caught by this unexpected blow, Heavenly Longevity Star, who had thought victory was assured, was completely unprepared and took the punch squarely in the chest.

Crack!

His Surplice shattered. He let out an involuntary grunt, and his entire body went flying.

Only then did Tenma finally understand. Wuxin had deliberately feigned weakness to create an opening for that surprise punch.

"Sekishiki Meikai Ha!"

Immediately afterward, Wuxin gathered his Cosmo at his fingertips and released five streams of silver energy, sweeping toward Heavenly Longevity Star, who had been knocked away nearby.

While holding back earlier, he had secretly accumulated some power. That was why he could follow his counterpunch so swiftly with another special move.

"Underworld Wave? You're from Sanctuary?" Elhart recognized Wuxin's technique.

Just as the five streams of Sekishiki were about to strike him, his body broke apart into countless tiny bats that scattered in all directions, completely evading all five streams.

By then, however, Tenma had also finished gathering his energy and followed up with an attack, coordinating with Wuxin.

"Pegasus Ryusei Ken!"

As he punched, endless streaks of fist light shot forth, becoming a dense meteor shower that blanketed the swarm of bats.

Boom, boom, boom!

The meteor shower repeatedly struck the ground with deafening blasts, kicking up waves of murky yellow dust.

When the dust dispersed, just under half the bats had been killed or wounded, but over half had escaped. They gathered again nearby, revealing Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart.

Whether because he had taken Wuxin's punch or because Tenma had destroyed so many of his bat duplicates, Elhart's face was now pale, and his aura had weakened considerably.

"Damn it! So you're the Tenma Constellation!" He glared furiously at Tenma.

No one had expected Tenma to have been disguised as a Specter.

Had he not inadvertently seen through Wuxin's disguise, the two of them would likely have slipped away right under his nose.

Only now, after the three had already exchanged a round of attacks, did the ghost wardens finally react and launch a concerted assault on Wuxin and Tenma.

"I'll handle Heavenly Longevity Star. You deal with those ghost wardens!"

After hurriedly making those arrangements, Wuxin charged straight at Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart.

Fortunately, this was Hell, where living people were rarely seen, and Elhart's subordinates were all undead creatures such as ghost wardens. Otherwise, dealing with this vampire would have been no easy task.

He could, after all, recover from injuries and restore his stamina by draining the blood of the living.

"Damn you! Do you think you can defeat me like this?"

Seeing Wuxin charge at him, Elhart flew into a rage. He spread his arms and stood ramrod straight, like a giant cross.

"Crimson Cross Ray!"

With his furious roar, scarlet light radiated from his entire body, combining into an enormous cross-shaped beam that shot toward Wuxin.

"I never thought killing you would be that easy! But I'm certain that 'anger' won't let you defeat me!" Wuxin sneered, abruptly changing direction just before the beam struck him and dodging the powerful attack.

Boom!

The cross-shaped beam missed and struck the open ground behind him, instantly blasting out a crater dozens of meters across.

The flying rubble also left the ghost wardens caught in its path in misery. Two unlucky ones were even struck in vital spots and died on the spot.

Tenma seized the opportunity to intensify his offensive, cutting down a large swath of enemies in short order.

Meanwhile, Wuxin continued closing in on Elhart, silently gathering Cosmo in his palm.

This fellow can split into bats. Ordinary attacks won't work on him!

But my Demonic Blue Flames are just the thing to counter him!

He had already made up his mind to settle the fight with Demonic Blue Flames.

Even if his opponent could split apart to evade attacks, as long as he landed a hit before that happened, he would definitely be able to finish him.

After all, his opponent's duplication was merely a change in physical form. He still had only one soul.

Once his Demonic Blue Flames caught him, even just a trace, no matter how he split apart, he would never escape those flames that used the soul as fuel.

Sensing the powerful fluctuations gathering in Wuxin's hand, Elhart dared not let him close in. With a forceful shudder, two dark red bat wings spread from his back. One gentle flap sent him into the air.

Wuxin hesitated, then stopped without leaping up in pursuit.

He could not fly. If he jumped high into the air, he could easily become a sitting duck.

Rather than do that, he would remain still and respond to his opponent's moves.

After all, he still had Soul Burial Wave, which was ideally suited to counterattacking.

With that in mind, he began silently gathering power in his other hand.

After all, if he used the first portion of energy he had just accumulated to unleash Soul Burial Wave, he would have to prepare another portion for Demonic Blue Flames.

Meanwhile, Elhart flew higher and higher, rapidly gathering Cosmo in both hands.

Only when he had finished gathering energy did he stop.

"Die, you damned Saint!"

"Crimson Storm!"

He rapidly beat the bat wings on his back. Countless palm-sized bats immediately emerged from them, forming an enormous tornado that swept toward Wuxin on the ground.

It was a storm composed of countless vampire bats. Any enemy caught within it would immediately have all their blood drained by the endless bats and become a dried corpse.

As the storm bore down on him, Wuxin clenched his right fist. A pale flame within it rapidly compressed, finally becoming a pale light that enveloped his fist.

"You're nowhere near qualified to kill me!"

"Sekishiki: Soul Burial Wave!"

Wuxin met it with a punch. As though possessing some special contagious property, the pale light instantly spread over the entire crimson tornado.

"Wh-what is this...?"

Before Elhart could react in the sky, the tornado shrouded in pale light exploded.

In an instant, the shock wave from the explosion struck him. Combined with the backlash from having his technique forcibly broken, it was more than he could withstand. He screamed and was blasted away.

Wuxin showed no mercy, immediately accelerating in pursuit toward where Heavenly Longevity Star was falling. In his left palm, the Cosmo he had long since gathered transformed into a pale flame and rose.

Chapter 69: Formulating a Plan

Sensing danger rapidly approaching, Heavenly Longevity Star Elhart hurriedly tried to rise and meet the attack.

But by then, most of his Surplice had been torn apart, exposing blood-spattered wounds beneath. His injuries were so severe that even moving a finger was difficult.

"Too late!"
