Do something stupid?
Wen Ning froze for a moment.
She remembered her best friend mentioning that the main villain had some pretty serious psychological issues and a tendency to self-harm.
Thinking of the crisscrossing old and new wounds on Bo Yan's body, she wondered how many were his own "handiwork"...
Wen Ning's heart gave two inexplicable twinges, and even the injuries on her own arm and neck began to ache with phantom pain.
She bit her lip and scrolled down a little to find Bo Yan on WeChat.
The original owner had saved Bo Yan's contact as "bastard." Wen Ning really disliked that word. Her delicate brows knitted tightly as she changed it to "darling hubby," then affectedly added a heart after it.
Bo Yan's profile picture was solid black. It looked a little cool, but it also exuded an oppressive feeling.
As for his Moments, Wen Ning had already looked through them last night. Aside from a few fight announcements and promotional posts for an underground boxing arena called "King," there was nothing about his private life.
Setting aside all the beautiful, powerful, and tragic traits the original novel had given Bo Yan, judging by his WeChat alone, he was actually a pretty boring person.
At least, if Wen Ning met someone like Bo Yan in real life, she would only admire his face at most. She would never entertain any other ideas.
Bo Yan wasn't her type at all.
Of course, she didn't dare entertain any other ideas now, either. Who would like a psycho who wanted to kill them at the drop of a hat?!
Unless she was a psycho herself!
She returned to the chat.
Their conversation was still stuck on the original owner's messages from two days ago, demanding to know what Bo Yan's relationship with Jiang Tingwan was.
The original owner's tone was very aggressive. Even through the text, her overbearing manner and disgust for Bo Yan came across clearly.
She hated him that much, yet had still swallowed her anger and married him. Wen Ning practically prostrated herself in admiration.
With that kind of perseverance, the original owner could clearly have succeeded at anything, yet she had chosen such an extreme and absurd path.
Faced with the original owner's aggressive demands, Bo Yan hadn't replied.
Oh, or perhaps he had replied-with silence...
Wen Ning kept grumbling inwardly, but her fingertips remained motionless on the keyboard.
Fine, she just didn't know what to send. That scene this morning had been pretty awkward...
Besides, honestly, given how Bo Yan had hated her enough to want to kill her this morning, he might not respond even if she messaged him now.
Forget it. She would leave it for later and think some more.
Closing the chat, Wen Ning let out a long breath, tipped backward, and lay down on the enormous bed.
The original owner really had grown up pampered in every possible way. This bed was so big, so soft, and so comfortable!
Wen Ning couldn't resist rolling across it.
But she had just rolled toward the inside of the bed when she found herself staring into a pair of eyes as big as a donkey's!
Wen Ning was so frightened that she sprang straight off the bed, blurting out a curse. "Holy shit!"
But she had launched herself too hard and accidentally crashed into something behind her!
The skin on Wen Ning's back crawled. She turned to look and let out another "Holy shit!"
She hurriedly dodged aside, only to look up and see the enormous picture over the headboard, which prompted a triple burst of holy shits!
"Holy shit!"
"Holy fucking shit!!!"
"Holy shit!!!"
Wen Jing had originally come to sound his sister out and ask how Jiang Tingwan had been doing these past two days.
When he had gone to see her a few days ago, he had found that she had lost a great deal of weight. His heart had ached terribly for her.
Those sharp-tongued, nasty servants of the Bo Family must have given her and her mother plenty of trouble. Although Wanwan refused to tell him anything, after she had cried like that in front of him last time, what was there left for him not to understand?!
He called Bo Xubai Brother Xu, but inwardly, he often felt dissatisfied with him.
First, Bo Xubai was always breaking his sister's heart. Second, he had clearly brought Jiang Tingwan and her mother back to the Bo Family, yet still let her suffer so many grievances. That wasn't manly at all!
After tonight, though, Wen Jing felt that this was probably an old Bo Family routine. Whether it was Bo Yan or Jiang Tingwan and her mother, the father and son only took responsibility for bringing them home and ignored everything else.
They really were coldhearted and unfeeling.
Although they hadn't known each other long, Wen Jing knew that Jiang Tingwan had always been strong-willed and rarely showed her vulnerable side in front of him.
That day had been the first time she cried in front of him.
Wen Jing hadn't been able to stop himself from hugging her then, and Jiang Tingwan had cried even harder in her arms.
Afterward, Jiang Tingwan had seemed a little awkward. Wen Jing had felt a little awkward too, but mostly shy.
In all his life, it had been his first time hugging a woman other than his mother or sister.
He didn't know whether it was because things had been too awkward or something else, but Jiang Tingwan hadn't contacted him since that day and rarely even replied to his messages. Wen Jing couldn't help feeling a little sad.
The moment his sister came home today, he had wanted to ask.
But he had spent the day too busy being shocked that his sister had switched mountains to dig wild vegetables on, and only now had he found an opportunity.
Still, he knew perfectly well that his sister considered Jiang Tingwan her mortal enemy, the kind she couldn't share the same sky with. So throughout the few dozen steps toward his sister's bedroom, Wen Jing had been thinking about how to bring it up without his own sister catching on...
Yet he had only just reached her bedroom door when he heard one "holy shit" after another coming from inside, like she was singing folk songs.
Thinking his sister had run into danger, Wen Jing called, "Sis, what's wrong?" and "Don't be scared, sis! Your strongman is here!" as he hurriedly pushed the door open!
Then an eerie silence settled over the room.
Wen Ning was pinching the body pillow printed with Bo Xubai between her thumb and forefinger. Out of disgust, she held only a tiny corner, and when she turned toward him, the terror was still on her face.
Wen Jing blinked.
Wen Ning's mouth hung open.
The siblings stared at each other.
A few minutes later-
"Sis, do you really want to take all this stuff down?" Wen Jing knew his sister liked Bo Yan now, but watching her mercilessly destroy a whole room of Bo Xubai merchandise still left him a little incredulous.
Wen Ning nearly rolled her eyes into the heavens. "What, should I leave it here to film a horror movie?! I seriously don't get it. Isn't a room decorated like this terrifying?! Who could sleep here?! Get rid of it. Hurry up and get rid of it all!"
Wen Jing scratched his head. "Uh, sis, you were thrilled when you put all these decorations up. You even posted quite a few Moments to show them off."
Wen Ning's hand paused in the middle of tearing down a poster, and her vision seemed to darken. She sighed. "Jing'er, you know, sometimes people can't even empathize with who they were two days ago."
Wen Jing kept scratching his head. "...Oh. Then I'll help too."
Together, the siblings took down the enormous "wedding portrait" over the headboard!
Wen Ning made a noise of disgust and hurriedly tossed the picture far away!
It was simply too terrifying!
She had thought someone had gotten into the room, but a closer look revealed that it wasn't a person-
First of all, those hadn't been donkey eyes on the bed. They had been human eyes. It was a Bo Xubai body pillow roughly two meters long, and a shirtless one at that.
What she had knocked over was an easel. On it sat a brightly colored oil painting of Bo Xubai's face, with a jawline sharp enough to slice melons and chop vegetables.
The thing over the headboard went without saying. It was a wedding portrait the original owner had Photoshopped of herself and Bo Xubai. Her editing skills were so poor that it looked more like a ghost photo of an unhappily married couple from a horror movie.
Besides those, the walls of the room were covered in Bo Xubai posters and photographs. Some of the photos were clearly taken from a voyeur's angle!
It was a full-blown Bo Xubai shrine room!
Wen Ning gained a much clearer understanding of the original owner's obsession!
The original owner was a total Bo Xubai stalker fan!
After finally clearing out all that junk... no, she couldn't really call it junk.
However awful the original owner's personality had been, at least her feelings for Bo Xubai had been real.
Although Wen Ning hated this inexplicable transmigration into a novel, and hated the original owner's previous brainless behavior, she wouldn't trample on her sincere feelings for Bo Xubai.
By now, that wave of speechless exasperation had passed. Wen Ning handed the entire large box of merchandise to Wen Jing. "Put these in the basement."
Given how she had been acting, Wen Jing had thought she would burn it all.
He froze briefly at her words, then nodded obediently and said okay before leaving with the box of merchandise in his arms.
Only after putting everything in the basement did he remember that he had forgotten his actual business.
Now that he had to go find his sister again, Wen Jing suddenly lost his nerve.
Forget it. He could ask tomorrow!
Meanwhile, Wen Ning had already started cleaning up the original owner's old Moments.
One look revealed that the original owner really had taken photos to show off her Bo Xubai shrine room. There were heaps of likes and comments underneath. Wen Ning's scalp prickled with embarrassment. She didn't even dare read the comments and went straight to making it private-
Wait, nope!
Hold on!!
Wen Ning's peach-blossom eyes suddenly narrowed!
If the original owner could make a Bo Xubai shrine room, couldn't she make one for Bo Yan too?
The more Wen Ning thought about it, the more brilliant the idea seemed. What could be more perverted than plastering a whole room with Bo Yan's pictures and sleeping with a half-naked Bo Yan body pillow at night?!
She acted at once, immediately opening her phone to place an order!
But before opening Taobao, she went back to check WeChat.
It was already almost ten at night.
It would soon be late at night, the peak hour for NetEase Depression. Bo Yan wasn't really going to do something stupid, was he?
Wen Ning didn't know why she was worried. If Bo Yan really did something "stupid," she would actually be safer.
But remembering how Bo Yan had been utterly unable to fight back last night and had almost been beaten to death by Bo Xubai in front of everyone, then thinking of how his father treated him even more coldly than he treated the Bo Family's servants...
Wen Ning still couldn't help opening her chat with Bo Yan.
She told herself that since she was building a simp persona, she needed to be more proactive, even if they were still giving each other the cold shoulder.
But before she finished typing, she saw "darling hubby [heart]" at the top change to "The other party is typing..."
Wen Ning froze.
Huh?
