Background / History
Bo Xubai grew up as the Bo Family’s favored eldest son, accustomed to admiration and treated as its future head. As a child, he witnessed his father drive veteran directors who opposed his takeover of Bo Group to their deaths. This experience shaped his fear of his father—and later of the ruthlessness he recognized in Bo Yan 5 19 47.
A marriage agreement had long linked the Bo and Wen families. Wen Ning’s original owner adored Bo Xubai from childhood and repeatedly wished to become his bride. However, he became involved with Jiang Tingwan during the engagement and fathered her daughter, Bo Zhizhi. He later brought Jiang Tingwan and the child into the Bo household, while Wen Ning married Bo Yan for his sake 21 23 31.
Previous Timeline
In the original course of events recalled by Wen Ning, her family pressured the Bos to honor the marriage agreement so she could divorce Bo Yan and marry Bo Xubai. When Bo Xubai refused, Wen Haichuan severed business cooperation with the Bo Family, damaging its stocks and forcing him to compromise. Bai Rong subsequently had Jiang Tingwan and her daughter kidnapped; Bo Xubai rescued them but suffered serious injuries 21.
Jiang Tingwan remembers a previous life in which Bo Xubai repeatedly targeted Bo Yan. Their conflict ultimately ended with Bo Yan killing both her and Bo Xubai. She also remembers Bo Xubai desperately shielding her during a fire. After her rebirth, she attempts to change that outcome by winning Bo Yan’s allegiance 13.
Appearance
Bo Xubai closely resembles his father, with sharp features and an icy presence that make him appear suited to leading the Bo Family 5.
- Eyes: Phoenix-shaped eyes, described as sinister when he threatens Bo Yan 5.
- Bearing: Cold and authoritative, though noticeably less mature and imposing than Bo Yurong 9.
- Contrast with Bo Yan: His angular appearance differs sharply from his younger brother’s softer, more exquisite features 5 9.
Personality
Bo Xubai is proud, status-conscious, and accustomed to Wen Ning’s devotion. He initially interprets her defense of Bo Yan as another attempt to attract his attention, even after she kicks him and calls the police. When she genuinely begins siding with her husband, he struggles to accept that she no longer revolves around him 8 17 34.
His contempt for Bo Yan combines prejudice with insecurity. He repeatedly insults his brother’s illegitimate birth, blames him and his mother for disrupting the family, and fears that Bo Yan may replace him as successor. He privately recognizes their father’s responsibility for the affair but directs his anger toward people he can challenge instead 5 6 17.
Jealousy frequently overrides his judgment. Bo Yan’s provocations drive him into a near-fatal assault, and Jiang Tingwan’s concern for Bo Yan leads him to grab her throat in front of their child. Nevertheless, he can restrain himself when family reputation or his father’s displeasure is at stake. He also shows tenderness toward Zhizhi, swallowing his anger and staying at breakfast when she asks him to eat with her 6 17 19 40.
Relationships
- Bo Yurong — Father and controlling authority. Bo Xubai fears defying him and seeks his approval. Although favored within the family, he is whipped after nearly killing Bo Yan and warned that impulsiveness makes him unfit to remain in the family’s service 17 19 40.
- Bo Yan — Younger paternal half-brother and perceived rival. Bo Xubai despises his illegitimacy and distrusts his harmless demeanor, while fearing his capacity for calculated violence. His belief that Bo Yan could take his place fuels their conflict 5 6.
- Jiang Tingwan — Romantic partner and mother of his daughter. He is intensely possessive of her and treats her visits to Bo Yan as evidence of romantic interest. Their current relationship becomes physically threatening, unlike the previous life she remembers 19 26 34.
- Bo Zhizhi — Daughter. Her frightened request persuades him to remain at a tense family meal; in Jiang Tingwan’s previous life, he rescued both mother and daughter from kidnappers 17 21.
- Wen Ning — Former fiancée and longtime admirer, later his sister-in-law. He takes her affection for granted, then becomes increasingly disturbed—and eventually attracted—when she rejects him and openly supports Bo Yan 21 34 40.
- Wen Haichuan and Bai Rong — Wen Ning’s parents and former supporters of his career. Their approval disappears after his betrayal of the engagement and his handling of Wen Ning’s kidnapping 31 47.
- He Cheng — Friend whose advice encourages him to try coaxing Wen Ning. He Cheng also accompanies him during the confrontation at Bo Group 34 38 40.

Family Conflict and Jiang Tingwan’s Visits

Loss of Wen Ning’s Devotion
- Encouraged by friends who insist Wen Ning is only trying to make him jealous, Bo Xubai secretly visits the Wen estate. He waits to see Bo Yan rejected, only to discover that Bo Yan is welcomed and stays overnight 34.

- When Bo Yan returns, Bo Xubai blames him for the Wen Family suspending a joint project and demands that he kneel and beg Wen Ning to come home. Wen Ning interrupts by kicking Bo Xubai back into his Rolls-Royce 34 35.
Confrontation at Bo Group
- Bo Xubai and He Cheng investigate the spectacle surrounding Wen Ning’s lunch delivery to Bo Yan. Contrary to their assumptions, she has come to support her husband rather than expose an affair 37 38.

- Remembering his father’s warning against impulsive behavior, Bo Xubai suppresses his anger to preserve the family’s public image. Watching the couple leave together, he recognizes that he is beginning to feel attracted to Wen Ning 40.
Wen Ning’s Kidnapping

- Bo Yan rescues Wen Ning. Bo Xubai arrives at the police station only after the couple have finished giving their statements 45 47.
- Fearing damage to Bo Group’s relationship with the Wens and his father’s imminent return, he repeatedly apologizes to Wen Ning’s parents. They remain outwardly polite but make their disappointment unmistakable 47.
- He cannot bring himself to apologize directly to Wen Ning, whom he once treated as beneath his attention. She leaves on Bo Yan’s back while Bo Xubai remains outside the station 47.
