Chapters 201–225 Vol. 3 Read

Ch. 201The Terrifying SSG Plan

Bai Yu connected Weevil to Vegapunk’s SSG experiments and told Zephyr he wanted to kill the Five Elders. After Zephyr asked him to return to Marine Headquarters, Bai Yu said he would visit the newly recruited Shichibukai first and return in three to five days.

  • Bai Yu deduced that Weevil was likely a failed product of Vegapunk’s SSG experiments, and Zephyr was startled by how much he knew.
  • Zephyr warned Bai Yu to keep the information secret and asked whether he would leave Marine Headquarters if the Five Elders kept targeting him.
  • Bai Yu said he welcomed their attention and wanted to cut down the Five Elders.
  • Zephyr told Bai Yu that Garp had been searching for him and asked whether he would return with them or send word back.
  • Bai Yu asked Zephyr to pass on a message, declined to travel with him, and said he would visit the newly recruited Shichibukai before returning in three to five days.
  • Bai Yu flew away, and Zephyr decided to report what had happened to Sengoku.

Ch. 202False kindness

Marine officers mourned Bai Yu's disappearance as Garp searched for news, until Nusjuro arrived and revealed that Zephyr had sent a distress call while trying to recruit Edward Weevil as a Shichibukai. As Nusjuro dismissed the possibility of rescuing Zephyr, an unexpected voice addressed Sengoku over the Den Den Mushi.

  • Garp searched through reports for information about Bai Yu, while Sengoku urged him to wait because Bai Yu had disappeared and returned before.
  • Nusjuro arrived with two companions, dismissed hopes that Bai Yu had survived, and reminded Sengoku to recruit the Shichibukai.
  • Nusjuro revealed that Zephyr had requested support from Hels Island while recruiting Edward Weevil.
  • Garp accused Nusjuro of deliberately sending Zephyr to a dangerous pirate, and Nusjuro left after declaring that no one could rescue him.
  • A voice reached Sengoku through the Den Den Mushi, asking why Sengoku had called when the speaker had been about to call him.

Ch. 203He Really Came Back from the Dead

Zephyr reported that Bai Yu had survived and killed Edward Weevil despite his Shichibukai status, humiliating Nusjuro and alarming the council. Zephyr said Bai Yu had found a new Shichibukai candidate and would return to Marine Headquarters in three to five days, then cut off the call.

  • Nusjuro reacted in shock when Zephyr answered the Den Den Mushi, and Zephyr grew suspicious after hearing one of the Five Elders speak.
  • Zephyr reported that Weevil had attacked the recruits and caused casualties, but Garp and the Marines were relieved to learn Zephyr had survived.
  • Zephyr revealed that Bai Yu had killed Weevil, and Garp seized the Den Den Mushi to confirm the news.
  • Zephyr explained that Bai Yu had acknowledged Weevil's Shichibukai status but killed him anyway, declaring that the title would not protect him.
  • The council realized Bai Yu had survived his fight with Kaido and the sea, while Nusjuro raged over the insult and demanded an explanation.
  • Zephyr said Bai Yu had found a new Shichibukai candidate and would return in three to five days, then pretended the signal had failed and disconnected.

Ch. 204Who Was the Real Clown?

Sengoku sent Nusjuro away after confirming Bai Yu was alive, while Garp and Sengoku worried the Five Elders might expose Bai Yu's survival to Kaido. On Onigashima, Kaido and the Flying Six mocked Bai Yu's supposed death until Nusjuro revealed that Bai Yu had survived and killed Edward Weevil, leaving Kaido and his crew stunned.

  • Sengoku dismissed Nusjuro, who threatened him over the vacant Shichibukai position before leaving.
  • Garp celebrated Bai Yu's survival, and Sengoku warned that the Five Elders might leak the news to Kaido.
  • Kaido summoned the Flying Six to discuss filling Jack's vacant All-Star position and raged over Bai Yu's supposed role in Jack's death.
  • Black Maria, Who's-Who, and Sasaki mocked Bai Yu as dead while competing for the All-Star position.
  • Nusjuro called Kaido and revealed that Bai Yu was alive and had killed Edward Weevil.
  • Kaido crushed his wine bowl as Black Maria, Who's-Who, and Sasaki realized their boasts had made them look foolish.

Ch. 205Nusjuro's Scheme

Nusjuro persuaded Kaido to cooperate against Bai Yu and prepared a plan to embarrass him over his Shichibukai candidates. On Little Garden, Dorry and Brogy decided to refuse Bai Yu’s invitation, but a lightning-wreathed figure crashed down before they could speak.

  • Kaido flew into a rage after Bai Yu’s escape, but Nusjuro urged him to hear the World Government’s plan instead of chasing Bai Yu.
  • King advised Kaido to consider the alliance, and Kaido agreed to cooperate with Nusjuro against Bai Yu.
  • Nusjuro discussed changing the weapons trade after Joker’s absence and said he had arranged to humiliate Bai Yu when he brought the Shichibukai candidates.
  • On Little Garden, Dorry and Brogy reconsidered joining the Shichibukai and decided to refuse Bai Yu’s invitation.
  • A figure wrapped in lightning descended onto the shore, creating a crater and stopping Dorry and Brogy from speaking.

Ch. 206A Taijutsu Secret Art Above the Six Powers

Bai Yu returned after fighting Edward Weevil and told Dorry and Brogy he would train them to become stronger Shichibukai. He offered to teach them a Taijutsu secret art above the Six Powers, leaving the giants and Law eager to learn it.

  • Bai Yu returned from the rubble, said his fast-travel method consumed too much stamina, and asked Law to take him aboard the submarine.
  • Bai Yu told Law and the giants that he had fought Edward Weevil, whom the Five Elders had chosen as a Shichibukai.
  • Dorry and Brogy, frightened by Bai Yu’s history of killing Shichibukai, asked to delay becoming Shichibukai until they had mastered Haki.
  • Bai Yu promised the giants a Haki crash course and a Taijutsu secret art to help them seek revenge on Charlotte Linlin.
  • Law questioned whether Rokushiki Ogi could challenge a Four Emperor, and Bai Yu said his secret art could multiply their strength by as much as twentyfold.

Ch. 207We Want This Move

Bai Yu faced the Island Eater while demonstrating the Eight Gates Released Formation, a technique that greatly increased his power. As he opened the Seventh Gate, Law and the giants were stunned, and Dorry and Brogy eagerly asked to learn the move.

  • Bai Yu assured Law, Dorry, and Brogy that the Eight Gates Released Formation was real and said he would not mistreat his allies.
  • The Island Eater surfaced and charged toward the island, but Bai Yu refused the giants’ offer to fight it and chose to test his strength instead.
  • Bai Yu opened the first, second, third, fifth, and sixth gates, causing his aura to surge and his body to change.
  • Law used ROOM to inspect Bai Yu and realized that he was deliberately unlocking his body’s limits and releasing his potential.
  • Dorry and Brogy decided they wanted to learn the technique, and Bai Yu opened the Seventh Gate as the Island Eater drew closer.

Ch. 208Do You Still Need a Shichibukai?

Bai Yu opened the Seventh Gate and used Daytime Tiger to destroy the Island Eater, leaving Trafalgar Law and the two giants eager to learn the technique. A day later, Dracule Mihawk sailed through the New World and encountered a ship flying Red-Haired Shanks’s flag.

  • Bai Yu opened the Seventh Gate and unleashed Daytime Tiger against the Island Eater.
  • The attack pierced the Island Eater and blew it apart, stunning Trafalgar Law and the two giants.

  • Bai Yu recovered from using the Eight Gates Released and considered testing its power against Kaido of the Beasts.
  • A day later, Dracule Mihawk sailed through the New World as pirates fled from his coffin-like boat.
  • Pirates recognized a ship flying Red-Haired Shanks’s flag on Mihawk’s route.

Ch. 209The Era You Bet On Wasn't Worth a Fart

Dracule Mihawk met Red-Haired Shanks openly and told him that Bai Yu had survived and killed Edward Weevil with one slash. Shanks and his crew were stunned as Mihawk dismissed Shanks’s faith in the era he had chosen.

  • Pirates fled after spotting Dracule Mihawk meeting Red-Haired Shanks and his crew aboard the Red Force.
  • Shanks asked Mihawk why he had come so openly, and Mihawk said the Five Elders would be pleased if they learned of the visit.
  • Shanks joked that Mihawk might be looking for news about Bai Yu, whom they had last discussed five days earlier.
  • Mihawk told Shanks that Bai Yu had appeared a day earlier, killed Edward Weevil with one slash, and saved Zephyr and the recruits.
  • Shanks questioned the report, and Mihawk explained that Marine Headquarters had suppressed the news to keep Kaido from hunting Bai Yu again.

Ch. 210Help me challenge Bai Yu

Dracule Mihawk told Red-Haired Shanks that Bai Yu was alive and asked him to publicize a challenge to the Marines’ Fourth Admiral. Shanks agreed to help and guard against interference, and the Red Hair Pirates held a banquet before spreading the news.

  • Dracule Mihawk told Red-Haired Shanks that Marine Headquarters had suppressed news of Bai Yu’s survival, and that the Five Elders had informed the Shichibukai.
  • Dracule Mihawk asked Red-Haired Shanks to announce his challenge to War Demon Bai Yu, surprising everyone on the ship.
  • Dracule Mihawk said intuition made him want to fight Bai Yu, whom he considered a worthy opponent after his survival against Kaido of the Beasts.
  • Red-Haired Shanks agreed to spread the challenge and watch Marine Headquarters and the World Government for interference, in exchange for a favor.
  • Dracule Mihawk said the challenge would also fulfill his assignment under the Shichibukai agreement, and the Red Hair Pirates began a victory banquet.
  • The Red Hair Pirates set out to spread news of the challenge, which would shake the seas five days later.

Ch. 211The Five Elders' Open Scheme

News spread that Dracule Mihawk had challenged Bai Yu, and Sengoku suspected the Five Elders wanted to lure Bai Yu into danger with Kaido. The Five Elders also ordered the Marines to restore the Shichibukai, setting a test in the Sabaody Archipelago for Bai Yu’s candidate, while Garp went there to investigate.

  • News reported that Bai Yu had survived a clash with Kaido, killed Edward Weevil, and been challenged by Dracule Mihawk to a fight five days later.
  • Garp suspected the Five Elders had arranged Mihawk’s challenge to expose Bai Yu to a possible attack by Kaido, but Sengoku said they could not stop Bai Yu from accepting it.
  • Sengoku read the Five Elders’ order to restore the Shichibukai’s strength and fill the vacant positions, warning that Bai Yu would be held responsible if the Marines failed to act quickly.
  • Sengoku explained that Bai Yu’s candidate for Shichibukai would have to pass a test in the Sabaody Archipelago to earn the position.
  • Garp stormed out of Marine Headquarters to go to Sabaody and see what the Five Elders were planning.

Ch. 212Arrival at the Sabaody Archipelago

Gion, Yamakaji, and three CP0 agents waited at the Sabaody Archipelago to assess Admiral Bai Yu’s chosen Shichibukai candidate. Bai Yu’s warship arrived, and Gion searched its deck to discover who he had selected.

  • Yamakaji warned Gion that joining the assessment could hurt her chances of becoming an Admiral, but she said she believed Bai Yu would complete the mission.
  • The CP0 agents Monkey, Giant Bear, and Hyena mocked Gion and declared they would make Bai Yu’s candidate fail.
  • Gion warned the agents they might lose face, and Monkey challenged her confidence in Bai Yu’s choice.
  • A Marine lookout spotted Bai Yu’s warship approaching the Sabaody Archipelago.
  • Yamakaji and Gion watched Bai Yu arrive, and Gion searched the deck for his chosen candidate.

Ch. 213The real big shots

Bai Yu returned to the harbor with two unexpected Shichibukai candidates, dismissing the CP0 agents who questioned his empty ship. Dorry the Blue Ogre and Brogy the Red Ogre emerged aboard a colossal pirate ship and challenged the agents to assess them, seeking Shichibukai status so they could rescue Kashii and Oimo from Enies Lobby.

  • Monkey accused Bai Yu of failing to bring back a Shichibukai candidate, and Bai Yu mocked the CP0 agents as too weak to face him.
  • Bai Yu declared that he had brought back big shots and called for them to come out.
  • A gigantic pirate ship burst from beneath the sea, and Yamakaji recognized Dorry the Blue Ogre and Brogy the Red Ogre as captains of an earlier generation of the Giant Warrior Pirates.
  • Dorry explained that he and Brogy wanted to become Shichibukai so they could rescue Kashii and Oimo from Enies Lobby.
  • Dorry challenged the three CP0 agents to begin their assessment fight.

Ch. 214The Ones Truly Scared Witless

Bai Yu’s two giant companions, Dorry and Brogy, faced a CP0 assault during the Shichibukai trial and revealed their mastery of Full-Body Armament Haki. The CP0 agents tried to retreat, but the giants moved with startling speed and struck at them.

  • Monkey, Hyena, and Giant Bear launched a surprise attack on Dorry’s joints, while Yamakaji protested and Bai Yu watched calmly.
  • The CP0 agents’ attacks failed to move Dorry, whose body was protected by Full-Body Armament Haki.
  • Dorry laughed at the weak attacks and urged Brogy to end the fight quickly, after Bai Yu’s training had helped both giants unlock Haki.
  • Monkey ordered the CP0 agents to retreat, but Dorry and Brogy suddenly moved with unexpected speed.
  • Three giant palms appeared before the fleeing CP0 agents and came crashing down.

Ch. 215CP0's trump card

Dorry the Blue Ogre and Brogy the Red Ogre overwhelmed three CP0 agents, but Monkey deployed twenty PX Pacifistas and trapped the giants under a barrage of lasers. As the bombardment intensified, Dorry and Brogy asked Bai Yu for permission to use a technique they had learned in his training, and he agreed.

  • Dorry the Blue Ogre and Brogy the Red Ogre smashed the three CP0 agents into a distant mountain with a powerful slap.
  • Monkey summoned PX Pacifistas from the World Government warship, revealing human weapons modeled after Tyrant Kuma.
  • Monkey ordered the PX Pacifistas to surround Dorry and Brogy and attack them with laser beams.
  • Dorry asked Bai Yu for permission to use a special move, and Brogy swatted away lasers while seeking a moment to recover.
  • Bai Yu granted permission, and Monkey ordered all twenty PX Pacifistas to unleash their full firepower against the giants.

Ch. 216One slap per kid

Bai Yu’s giants opened the Fifth Gate and crushed the PX Pacifistas and CP0 agents with powerful slaps. Afterward, Gion and Yamakaji learned that Bai Yu had created the taijutsu secret art and promised to teach it to them.

  • Bai Yu’s two giants opened the Fifth Gate and slapped more than half of the PX Pacifistas into the distance.
  • Monkey ordered the remaining Pacifistas to self-destruct, but the giants survived and slapped the three CP0 agents away.
  • Gion, Yamakaji, and the others watched the Pacifistas and CP0 agents fall, then realized Bai Yu might have taught the giants their combat techniques.
  • Yamakaji and Gion hurried to ask Bai Yu about the move, and he confirmed it was a taijutsu secret art he had recently mastered and would teach them later.
  • Bai Yu said they would first see whether the World Government was satisfied with the Shichibukai selection mission.

Ch. 217Didn't They Try to Trip Them Up?

Sengoku and Garp feared the Five Elders were plotting against Bai Yu, then learned that Bai Yu’s Shichibukai candidates had passed a deadly assessment. Sai'er revealed that Dorry and Brogy had defeated CP0 and twenty PX Pacifistas with ease, leaving Marine Headquarters stunned by the giants’ strength.

  • Sengoku and Garp questioned the Five Elders’ motives behind Dracule Mihawk’s challenge to Bai Yu.
  • After hearing that Bai Yu had met CP0 at Sabaody Archipelago, Garp prepared to intervene in the Shichibukai assessment, and Sengoku offered to go with him.
  • Sai'er told Sengoku and Garp that Bai Yu’s candidates had already passed the assessment.
  • Sai'er revealed that the Five Elders had sent three CP0 agents and twenty PX Pacifistas to stop the candidates.
  • Sai'er identified the candidates as Dorry the Blue Ogre and Brogy the Red Ogre, who had sent CP0 and the Pacifistas flying with a slap.

Ch. 218The Second-Round Plan

The Five Elders learned that Bai Yu’s two giants had defeated their CP0 and Pacifista strike team, and debated the giants’ secret Taijutsu art. They approved the giants’ Shichibukai selection and prepared to continue their second-round plan against Bai Yu.

  • Sengoku and Garp recognized that the giants’ secret Taijutsu art could greatly strengthen an entire faction, while Bai Yu kept its origin secret on his orders to Gion and Yamakaji.
  • Nusjuro learned that Bai Yu’s two giants had destroyed the CP0 and Pacifista strike team and angrily berated the reporting agent.
  • Daps reminded Nusjuro that the Shichibukai assessment was only the overt part of their plan and confirmed that their covert collaborator had agreed to help kill Bai Yu.
  • The Five Elders suspected Bai Yu might have taught the giants their Taijutsu art, but Nusjuro dismissed the idea because only nine days had passed since Bai Yu fought Kaido.
  • Kaden proposed approving the giants’ Shichibukai selection so the World Government could claim their secret Taijutsu art after Bai Yu was dealt with, as the second-round plan began.

Ch. 219I like people who are crazy

After Bai Yu promised to teach Gion and Yamakaji the Eight Gates Released, a newspaper revealed Dracule Mihawk had challenged him. Bai Yu welcomed the challenge and wondered whether it was the Five Elders’ next move.

  • Yamakaji asked Bai Yu whether they should report the truth about the Taijutsu, and Bai Yu promised to teach him and Gion.
  • Bai Yu teased Gion by suggesting he might teach Yamakaji alone, but Gion accepted his offer and let him keep holding her hand.
  • Law recalled struggling to learn the Eight Gates Released and understood that Bai Yu’s instruction let students master it quickly, though reaching the sixth gate depended on their ability.
  • Bai Yu considered what the Five Elders might do after their CP0 agents sent back news of the battle.
  • A News Coo delivered a newspaper, and Yamakaji and Gion saw that Dracule Mihawk had challenged Bai Yu.
  • Bai Yu said he liked crazy people and was eager to face Mihawk, though he thought the challenge would be disappointing if it was the Five Elders’ next move.

Ch. 220Her Fate Was a Bit of a Pitfall

Bai Yu accepted Dracule Mihawk’s challenge but diverted toward cannon fire on Sabaody Archipelago, where he found a Celestial Dragon pursuing the injured mermaid Camie. He recognized her as a victim of human traffickers and faced the question of who would intervene.

  • Bai Yu welcomed the chance to fight Dracule Mihawk and considered testing his swordsmanship against the World's Greatest Swordsman.
  • After cannon fire sounded, Bai Yu used Observation Haki, then rushed toward Island One despite Yamakaji's suggestion that he return to Marine Headquarters.
  • Bai Yu, Yamakaji, and Gion found hundreds of people kneeling in fear as a Celestial Dragon rode a fish-giant through the street.
  • The Celestial Dragon pursued a wounded girl with a self-destructing collar, while Spandam and CP9 stood behind him.
  • Bai Yu recognized the girl as Camie, a mermaid captured by human traffickers, and Gion questioned how a Fish-Man Island resident had become merchandise.

Ch. 221Jinbe of the Shichibukai

Jinbe intervened when Saint Charlos and CP9 pursued Camie, a mermaid who had been bought at auction by Aladdin. After Jinbe offered money and tried to protect her, Charlos shot him, while Spandam threatened Fish-Man Island to stop Jinbe from resisting.

  • Yamakaji told Gion that merfolk were highly prized by traffickers and that Whitebeard’s protection had limited the trade on Fish-Man Island.
  • Saint Charlos ordered CP9 to capture Camie, intending to add her to his collection.
  • Jinbe arrived and told Spandam that Camie belonged to the Sun Pirates, offering three hundred million Beli to let them leave.
  • Saint Charlos shot Jinbe in the back and ordered his men to seize Camie and Jinbe.
  • Spandam threatened Fish-Man Island, and Jinbe hesitated as Jabra rushed toward Camie.

Ch. 222He Would Even Hit a Celestial Dragon

Bai Yu intervened when Jabra tried to capture Camie, defeating him with a single attack and openly insulting the Celestial Dragons. As Saint Charlos demanded an Admiral be sent to kill Bai Yu, Spandam warned him that Bai Yu might even hit a Celestial Dragon.

  • Jinbe tried to stop Jabra from taking Camie, but Fukurou and Lion Kumadori blocked him.
  • Gion called for Admiral Bai Yu, who had already moved to intervene, while Yamakaji and Gion praised his actions.
  • Bai Yu seized Jabra's wrist, endured his Heavy Step Wolf, and smashed him into a mangrove tree, leaving him unconscious with both arms broken.
  • Bai Yu told Spandam he did not work for trash, and Spandam was so shocked that he fell to the ground.
  • Saint Charlos ordered Spandam to contact Marine Headquarters and summon an Admiral to kill Bai Yu.
  • Spandam warned Saint Charlos not to provoke Bai Yu because he might even hit a Celestial Dragon.

Ch. 223Is the Person You're Talking About Bai Yu?

Bai Yu was revealed as the Marine admiral who had intervened against Saint Charlos, drawing the attention of the crowd and alarm from his fellow Marines. Saint Rosward summoned Akainu to Sabaody to deal with the alleged attacker, and Akainu suspected Bai Yu was involved.

  • The crowd learned that Bai Yu had spoiled Saint Charlos's fun, and Gion and Yamakaji worried that the confrontation would escalate.
  • Saint Charlos raised his pistol, but Spandam warned him that Bai Yu was the Fourth Admiral and urged him to leave the matter to the Marines.
  • Saint Rosward and Shalria arrived, and Saint Rosward berated Spandam before calling Akainu.
  • Saint Rosward told Akainu that someone had attacked the Celestial Dragons and demanded that he come to Sabaody to arrest the culprit.
  • Akainu asked whether the person Saint Rosward meant was Bai Yu.

Ch. 224No rule says an Admiral can't hit you

Bai Yu rescued Camie from the Celestial Dragons and ignored their attempts to summon the Admirals. After Saint Charlos’s explosive collar went off, Bai Yu struck down Saint Rosward and Shalria, leaving the Celestial Dragons beaten in the street.

  • Saint Rosward called Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru for help, but none of the Admirals answered his pleas.
  • Bai Yu told Jinbe to take Camie away, and Jinbe thanked him and moved to rescue her.
  • Saint Charlos activated Camie’s self-destruct collar, but Bai Yu tore it off and threw it toward him, where it exploded and knocked Charlos unconscious.
  • Shalria and Saint Rosward threatened to report Bai Yu, but Bai Yu said Admirals were not forbidden from hitting Celestial Dragons.
  • Bai Yu drew his Zanpakuto and struck Saint Rosward and Shalria, sending them crashing to the ground with split fishbowls and shattered teeth.

Ch. 225You're Probably Worried About the Wrong Thing

Bai Yu rescued Camie from the Celestial Dragons at Sabaody and left with Gion and Yamakaji, while Marine Headquarters and the Five Elders reacted to his attack. Sengoku feared the Five Elders were deliberately provoking Bai Yu, but Akainu suspected Bai Yu was eager for a fight; Nusjuro vowed to ensure Bai Yu died.

  • Spandam refused to stop Bai Yu from leaving, and Bai Yu set out with Gion and Yamakaji for Marine Headquarters before heading to Kalles Island.
  • Jinbe took Camie away, grateful that Bai Yu had intervened and spared Fish-Man Island further trouble.
  • Sengoku told Tsuru to check on the injured Celestial Dragons, and Tsuru confirmed Bai Yu had attacked them.
