Bai Yu returned after killing Weevil, brought Dorry and Brogy through the Shichibukai assessment, and drew Mihawk’s challenge. At Sabaody, he rescued Camie by attacking Saint Charlos and other Celestial Dragons, setting the Five Elders against him again.

• Bai Yu told Zephyr he welcomed the Five Elders’ attention, then left to visit the new Shichibukai candidates as Zephyr reported his survival to Marine Headquarters.
• Nusjuro revealed Bai Yu was alive and had killed Edward Weevil, prompting Kaido to agree to cooperate with the World Government against him.
• Bai Yu returned to Little Garden and promised Dorry and Brogy a Haki lesson and the Eight Gates Released Formation, then used its Seventh Gate to destroy the Island Eater with Daytime Tiger.
• Mihawk told Shanks he intended to challenge Bai Yu, and Shanks agreed to spread the challenge while watching for interference from the World Government.
• Bai Yu brought Dorry and Brogy to Sabaody, where they defeated the CP0 agents and twenty PX Pacifistas, passing the Shichibukai assessment.
• Bai Yu learned of Mihawk’s challenge, then rushed to Island One and found Saint Charlos pursuing Camie with CP9 while Jinbe tried to protect her.

Bai Yu’s Eight Gates training strengthened the Marines while the Five Elders and the Emperors prepared a trap for him. After the Big Mom Pirates captured Momousagi, Bai Yu headed alone for Whole Cake Island, and Whitebeard mobilized his fleet as Shanks and Mihawk received the news.

• The Five Elders set a plan in motion against Bai Yu as news of his deeds spread and the Beasts Pirates placed a two-billion-Beli bounty on him.
• Hancock learned that Bai Yu had killed Edward Weevil and beaten a Celestial Dragon, then changed course for Totto Land before going to watch Mihawk fight him.
• At Marine Headquarters, Dorry defeated five giant Vice Admirals with the Fifth Gate and revealed that Bai Yu had taught him and Brogy the Eight Gates Released.
• Bai Yu demonstrated the Sixth Gate against Sengoku, then sailed for Kalles Island while Garp and Sengoku went to meet the Five Elders.
• Nusjuro, Charlotte Linlin, and Kaido prepared to cooperate against Bai Yu, while Katakuri warned that his vision showed the operation ending in danger.
• Bai Yu defeated Charlotte Snack after Snack revealed that the Big Mom Pirates had captured Momousagi and demanded Bai Yu attend Linlin’s banquet.

Bai Yu fought his way through Charlotte Linlin’s banquet trap, wounded her twice, and escaped Totto Land with the Kuja Pirates. As he headed for Kales Island to face Dracule Mihawk, Kaido and the Five Elders prepared to target him, while Shanks and Mihawk awaited his arrival.

• Shanks learned Bai Yu had gone to Whole Cake Island and agreed to help Mihawk secure a one-on-one duel, while Sengoku led a Marine fleet toward Totto Land despite Tsuru’s warning about a possible Five Elders trap.
• Boa Hancock arrived at the banquet, where Charlotte Linlin revealed Gion as a prisoner and news came that Bai Yu had killed Snack and was heading there alone.
• Bai Yu reached Gion and clashed with Charlotte Linlin, overpowering her Haki before using the Fifth and Sixth Gates to break through her defenses and batter her.
• Bai Yu opened the Seventh Gate and struck Charlotte Linlin with Daytime Tiger, then transformed Nozarashi and severed her left arm in a devastating clash that wrecked Whole Cake Island as Kaido arrived.
• Charlotte Linlin reattached her arm with a soul and pursued the Kuja Pirates, but Bai Yu emerged from their ship, cut off her right arm, and escaped with the crew as the Big Mom Pirates searched in vain.
• News of Charlotte Linlin’s defeat spread, while Nusjuro and Kaido plotted against Bai Yu at Kales Island and Zephyr warned Sengoku that the Five Elders would target him.
• Jinbe helped Bai Yu and the Kuja Pirates escape, and Bai Yu set out for Kales Island with Jinbe, Hancock, and Gion despite their warnings that he was injured and exhausted.

Bai Yu defeated Dracule Mihawk, claimed the title of World's Greatest Swordsman, and accepted a mission to bring Fish-Man Island to the World Affiliated Nation Conference. He arrived to find Neptune refusing his help, Shirahoshi missing, and Hody Jones launching a coup.

• Kaido attacked Bai Yu's ship, but Dracule Mihawk intercepted his blast, and allies including Jinbe, Hancock, Shanks, Whitebeard, and Garp forced Kaido to withdraw.
• Bai Yu fought Mihawk in a destructive sword duel, entering Bloodthirsty Void State and unleashing Six Paths Five Rings: Kurikara Tensho.
• Aokiji froze the tsunami from their final clash, and Mihawk admitted defeat as Bai Yu became the World's Greatest Swordsman.
