Background / History

Transmigration and restaurant life

Lin Feng transmigrated into the world at eight years old with the Alucard Template System. A restaurant owner took him in because of his unusual strength and quickness, and he supported himself as an employee. His duties included hunting Danger Beasts for ingredients after the lunchtime rush 1.

Growing up amid poverty and imperial corruption convinced him that his abilities might change the country. When the Gathered Heroes Group threatened the restaurant, he followed its members to their headquarters, killed the gang, and returned with its stolen money. He concealed the massacre from his coworkers with a fabricated account of a clash involving the imperial police 1 3 4 5 7.

Imperial Guard career

Rather than avoid the corrupt authorities, Lin Feng accepted the opportunity to join the Imperial Guard. Sheele accompanied him, and he passed his enlistment test by tapping Wave’s back twice before Wave could react 8 9.

He patrolled the streets, accumulated experience, and investigated Captain Ogre’s dealings through shadow surveillance. After Ogre’s death, he handled the station’s work and gained his colleagues’ support. Budo’s envoy subsequently appointed him captain of District Thirteen 13 14 17 24 25.

As captain, he introduced flexible working hours, distributed equipment, and encouraged the guards to address him by name. His investigation into the station’s Teigu-testing equipment exposed Dr. Stylish’s exploitation of Seryu, giving him a personal reason to confront the doctor 25 26.

Esdeath and advancement at court

After killing Zanku and saving Tatsumi, Lin Feng declined Akame’s invitation to join Night Raid, choosing to pursue justice within the Empire. He later defeated Tatsumi in Esdeath’s tournament, where Esdeath selected him as her prospective partner 31 36.

He accompanied her to the palace to obtain the tournament’s Teigu prize and investigate the capital. His subsequent killing of Dr. Stylish and Nyau brought him into conflict with the Jaegers and Esdeath. At court, he defended those killings by presenting them as the lawful punishment of criminals 37 39 40 41 49 52.

Lin Feng deliberately demonstrated that he could exchange blows with Esdeath, making himself too valuable to discard over the deaths of lesser officials. Honest appointed him lieutenant general to counterbalance her, then later elevated him to great general alongside Esdeath and Budo 53 55 56 79.

Alliance with Night Raid

Wild Hunt’s torture and killings enraged Lin Feng, but he recognized the danger of openly attacking Honest’s son. He intervened against the group, helped Night Raid, and developed a plan that would preserve his political position while giving him new allies 88 98 102 105.

He brought Mine, Akame, Najenda, and Leone before the court as prisoners, apparently executed them, and secretly restored them through Bloodsucking. With the four officially dead, he sheltered them at his residence and established cooperation based on their shared goals 107 109 110 111.

Honest eventually stripped him of command of the Jaegers and ordered Esdeath and Budo to monitor him. Having overheard the plot, Lin Feng consolidated his supporters and announced an offensive against Honest 115 116 117.

Final battles and reconstruction

During his renewed duel with Esdeath, Lin Feng survived a heart-piercing attack through Resurrection. He ultimately killed her and absorbed her soul, learning the full extent of her feelings while retaining respect for her as an opponent 126 127 130.

Against Honest’s Machine God, he maximized his physique and released his accumulated dead. His template reached completion during the final conflict, unlocking Eye of the Dark Heavens 146 150 157 158.

After defeating the Machine God, Lin Feng returned with his allies and promised to build a new nation. When Akame offered to help, he proposed shared power and decisions made by vote rather than concentrating authority in one person 160.

Personality

Lin Feng is protective of ordinary people and intolerant of officials who treat lives as expendable. His anger at corruption comes from having lived in the slums himself, and he extends his responsibility toward subordinates beyond discipline to their individual wishes and futures 26 68 86 104.

He is calculating rather than blindly confrontational. He conceals abilities, gathers evidence, uses promotions to expand his freedom of action, and cooperates across factional boundaries. He initially refuses Night Raid membership without condemning its members, later explaining that their alliance rests on shared interests rather than a debt of gratitude 13 31 55 105 111.

His warmth toward trusted companions contrasts sharply with his brutality toward enemies. He shares money with former coworkers, keeps Sheele beside him through successive promotions, and offers Run shelter; against threatening criminals, he uses mutilation, strangulation, and lethal force without hesitation 5 56 57 76 88 98.

He also enjoys teasing those close to him. During a celebration with Sheele, he secretly manipulates dice with his shadow, though he rejects the idea of enriching himself through gambling at others’ expense 10.
