Kōki Itō survived the loss of his team, joined the Anbu, and developed Yin Release clones while fighting Sunagakure and pursuing Tobirama Senju’s research. The volume ends with Kōki’s squad surrounded by Sunagakure ninja, and Kōki determined not to abandon his comrades.
Kōki’s Wood Release and medical skill helped Konoha defeat Sunagakure, after which he overcame Iwagakure’s forces and mastered Sage Mode. He left to reinforce Konoha’s failing Kumogakure front as the Light Organization accepted Ōnoki’s bounty mission.
Kōki and the Light Organization shaped the war while Aizen pursued the Sharingan and Madara’s plans drew Obito into conflict. The volume ended with Obito acting as Madara’s ally, Rin reunited with Kakashi, and Fugaku arranging a public duel over Kakashi’s Sharingan.
