Because they were Devil Cultivators, Blood-Sealing and his companions, along with Fu Hong, had the misfortune of being placed among the Devil Domain's army by the Obstruction Devil. They had nearly been cut down by Yin Fan's Blazing Cold Sword.
Though the illusion had shattered, the danger remained.
Wu Fei gazed at the black mist on the altar, his expression growing graver.
"You truly gave me quite a show..." The Obstruction Devil's voice came from the black mist. "A pity I underestimated your strength. Otherwise, this show would have been even more spectacular..."
"Now, it is time for me to enjoy my final"

The moment the words fell, the Obstruction Devil suddenly lunged toward Yin Fan. The Obstruction Pearl swept up all the black mist and hurtled at him.
Wu Fei's gaze sharpened, and he instinctively summoned the Silent Dust Pearl. But the Obstruction Devil was now beyond what the Silent Dust Pearl could withstand. When the golden light met the black mist, it bought the two of them only a brief moment.
Just before the Obstruction Devil reached them, a cold glint flashed through Wu Fei's eyes. Under Yin Fan's astonished gaze, he instantly switched their positions.
"Senior brother!"
The Obstruction Devil had no time to react. The black mist swiftly burrowed into Wu Fei's body. Wu Fei let out a muffled groan, bright red blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. A faint struggle crossed his face, and his once-serene bearing turned eerie.
White light and black mist alternated over his body as the exquisite heart resisted the Obstruction Devil's invasion.
Yin Fan supported him, recklessly pouring spiritual power into Wu Fei's body to contend with the Obstruction Devil. Beneath his barely maintained composure lay a trace of panic.
Beside them, Fu Hong took out a Heaven-Shaking Thunder and held it in his hand, watching Cang Xiao, Blood-Sealing, and the others warily.
Cang Xiao and the others had intended to approach, but at the sight of the Heaven-Shaking Thunder in his hand, they all faltered and stopped.
Suddenly, the black light around Wu Fei surged. He violently coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed against Yin Fan.
Panic swept through Yin Fan, but before he could speak, his gaze met a pair of blood-red eyes. He froze. "Senior brother..."
His pupils contracted slightly. The white-robed Buddhist disciple before him had eerily red eyes. Those once remarkably clear eyes were now utterly dark, dispelling most of his serene bearing.
Those eyes...
"Senior brother, you've fallen into devilhood..." Yin Fan murmured, astonishment in his eyes.
Wasn't someone with an innate exquisite heart supposed to never develop an inner devil? What was going on?
A dark gleam flashed through Wu Fei's eyes, and the corners of his lips lifted slightly. The hand resting on Yin Fan slid around his waist, holding him with enough force to press them tightly together. Then he lowered his head slightly, leaned close to Yin Fan's ear, and asked softly:
"Does the Devil Venerable still like Wu Fei now that he's fallen into devilhood?"
After saying this, he collapsed against Yin Fan again and lost consciousness completely.
The astonishment on Yin Fan's face instantly turned to panic. Only after examining Wu Fei and discovering that he had merely passed out did he breathe a sigh of relief.
He tossed out the Blazing Cold Sword, and its blade enlarged. Supporting Wu Fei, Yin Fan stepped onto it.
Behind him, a sect leader of the righteous path called out, "Yin Fan, leave the Buddha Spirit Sect's Buddhist disciple here!"
Cang Xiao and the others were thinking that, since the situation with the Obstruction Devil and Wu Fei remained unclear, they could not let Yin Fan take him away.
Yin Fan snorted coldly. "Fu Hong, the Heaven-Shaking Thunder."
Fu Hong answered. Watching Cang Xiao and the others attempt to approach, he gave a malicious smile and threw the Heaven-Shaking Thunder in his hand.
At the sight, Cang Xiao and the others hurriedly retreated. But only when the Heaven-Shaking Thunder hit the ground did they realize that the expected commotion had not come. The same thought flashed through all their minds.
They'd been tricked. The Heaven-Shaking Thunder was fake!
By then, however, the Blazing Cold Sword had already carried the three of them out of sight.
The incident at the altar in the Flame Spirit Realm ended with the Buddha Spirit Sect's Buddhist disciple sacrificing himself to suppress the Obstruction Devil.
Cang Xiao and the others had intended to summon something capable of dealing with Yin Fan. They had never expected to summon a suppressed Obstruction Devil instead. Not only had they failed to deal with Yin Fan, they had nearly plunged the cultivation world into danger.
Fortunately, the cultivation world had Wu Fei, a Buddhist disciple with an innate exquisite heart. Everyone had also learned of Wu Fei's true cultivation level, but what worried them now was...
Although Wu Fei had suppressed the Obstruction Devil, he had also lost consciousness at the end. They did not know whether he had suppressed the Obstruction Devil completely...
If the Obstruction Devil had not been completely suppressed, it would be a tremendous disaster for both the cultivation world and the Devil Domain.
Beyond that, deciding what to do with the Flame Spirit Realm, which the Devil Cultivators had blasted open, also gave them a terrible headache.
In the Northern Region, inside the Devil Venerable's hall.
"Does the Devil Venerable still like Wu Fei now that he's fallen into devilhood?"
Yin Fan startled out of meditation once again. The words Wu Fei had whispered into his ear that day surfaced in his mind over and over, leaving him distracted and unable to concentrate on cultivating.
He was also deeply worried about Wu Fei, who had yet to wake.
That day, after saying those words, Wu Fei had collapsed against him and passed out. Yin Fan had had no time to ponder his words and had first brought him back to the Northern Region.
Yet Wu Fei had slept for two days, and those words had circled through his mind for two days. Those words of Wu Fei's... what exactly did they mean?
In a chamber separated from this place by only a wall, a white-robed Buddhist cultivator lay on his back on a spacious, luxurious bed, a trace of compassion on his incomparably handsome face.
In an empty void, the white-robed Buddhist disciple sat upright with his eyes closed, turning his prayer beads. Directly before him, a mass of black mist radiating an ominous aura suddenly charged toward him.
The next moment, Wu Fei opened his eyes on the bed, revealing blood-red pupils that swept away every trace of his former compassionate bearing. Those eyes were unmistakably a sign of falling into devilhood.
Wu Fei slowly rose. When he looked up again, another figure already stood before him. It was Yin Fan, who had come from the side chamber after sensing Wu Fei's aura.
He stared intently at Wu Fei, who stood beside the bed. At the sight of those eyes, still red, his heart tightened.
Wu Fei looked around at his surroundings, then curved his lips slightly. Fixing his gaze on Yin Fan a few steps away, he extended a hand toward the grave-faced Devil Venerable and said with a soft laugh, "Come here."
Unlike his serene tone before falling into devilhood, Wu Fei's words and movements now carried a measure of forcefulness.
Yin Fan froze for a moment, his gaze falling on Wu Fei's outstretched hand. Unsure what he meant, he only lifted his foot and took the first step after a long while.
