Morris showed great interest in the legacy left by the other three Founders.
Unfortunately, his interest went unused.
Even if he knew that the legacy existed, he had no clues to pinpoint its exact location.
Moreover, Hogwarts has been established for over a thousand years, and its traditions may have long since disappeared into history, or been preempted by some exceptionally gifted student.
It is incredible that Salazar Chamber of Secrets has survived to this day.
With that thought in mind, Morris composed himself and stopped thinking about it.
Instead of chasing after things that are illusory and unattainable, it's better to grasp the treasures that are within your reach.
He wants to dedicate his limited energy to the boundless ocean of knowledge!
When discussing Salazar Slytherin's signature magic, Legilimency is undoubtedly one of them.
Morris discovered that Slytherin's research into this magic had reached an astonishing depth.
According to the manuscript, Salazar Slytherin could read the entire contents of another person's mind with just a glance.
Of course, Morris believed this was an exaggeration.
But that's not important.
Importantly, the manuscript details the cultivation methods and core principles of the art of Legilimency.
Unlike ordinary spells, Legilimency is essentially a skill that highly relies on willpower, concentration, and magical talent.
It requires neither a wand nor a spell.
Of course, beginners usually use spells for assistance.
Morris was eager to practice this magic, but couldn't find anyone to practice with.
After all, everyone has their own secrets that they don't want outsiders to know.
Take Morris himself, for example; he wouldn't even disclose his browser history, let alone his memories.
People will die.
One ordinary morning, Morris was having breakfast in the dining room when he suddenly had a flash of inspiration when he saw Lockhart showing off his gleaming white teeth.
Yes, he can use Lockhart as a practice subject.
Lockhart had many interesting experiences hidden in his mind, which Morris found somewhat interesting.
And this guy isn't a good person.
Morris could have easily used a Memory Charm on the other person after practicing Legilimency, and then simply walked away.
He won't feel any psychological burden.
Let's get started.
After breakfast, Morris followed Lockhart at a distance, watching him greet each student he encountered with his head held high.
Lockhart eventually walked into his office, where a huge poster had been pasted on the door, showing Lockhart blowing kisses to passersby.
It remains a taste that is hardly praiseworthy.
Morris resisted the urge to complain, waited patiently for a moment, then stepped forward and knocked on the office door.
"Please come in."
Lockhart's voice came through.
Morris pushed open the door and entered, only to find that many things were missing from the office. The posters and photos on the walls were gone, the bookshelves were empty, and the trophies and some souvenirs were packed into boxes.
He feigned curiosity and asked, " Professor Lockhart, are you... resigning?"
Lockhart turned around, flashing a standard, radiant smile. "Ah! You saw right through me, my dear student. Yes, as you can see, I'm doing some tidying up. I, Gilderoy Lockhart, am about to embark on a new journey!"
"It's already quite remarkable that Hogwarts allowed me to stay for a year; after all, I'm essentially an adventurer, adventure is my soul..."
Morris didn't want to listen to the other person's long-winded explanation; he just wanted to practice his magic.
He stared intently into Lockhart's eyes.
Then, they launched a fierce attack.
The magic surged straight into the other's brain, Lockhart sensed the anomaly almost instantly.
"Ugh!"
Lockhart let out a short, painful gasp, his face contorted in terror.
"What... what are you doing?"
He felt that his brain was no longer his own; countless memories, including stolen, forged, and real ones, were all being violently stirred and pulled.
"Ah, it seems I used a bit too much force," Morris muttered to himself.
His first Legilimency was inexperienced; he not only messed up the other person's memories but also failed to obtain any useful information.
He only saw a series of chaotic fragments of memory.
This includes a screaming witch's face, blinding flashes at a book signing, and numerous shots of people practicing their smiles in front of a mirror.
"Stop! Stop!" Lockhart snapped out of his daze and clutched his head tightly.
He already realized what had happened.
This student is invading his brain!
He was just a hair's breadth away from having those memories he kept deepest inside unearthed.
Lockhart was unaware that Morris already knew his background.
Only one thought occupied his mind: to escape.
Immediately! Right now!
"Don't worry, Professor, I'll be gentle from now on."
Morris smiled gently, but to Lockhart, it was nothing short of a devil's grin.
A chill ran straight to the top of the head.
"Let me go!" Lockhart roared desperately, shoving Morris away with all his might and stumbling toward the door.
Unfortunately, Morris had already locked the office door from the inside.
After struggling to no avail, Lockhart calmed down.
"What do you want?" He turned around, leaning against the door. "Money, or fame? I can provide either."
Morris shook his head and gently picked up his wand.
" Obliviate."
Half an hour later, Morris walked out of Lockhart's office looking refreshed.
He has basically mastered the Legilimency.
His method of practicing Legilimency was simple and brutal: he would constantly invade the other person's brain, reset their memory, use it again, reset it again, and repeat this cycle over and over.
Practice makes perfect.
Now, he is able to silently read Lockhart's thoughts and memory fragments without Lockhart's knowledge.
Of course, this could also be because he cast more than a dozen Memory Charm on the other party.
But in any case, the result was satisfactory.
Incidentally, he had thoroughly investigated Lockhart's mind and knew all the despicable things the other man had done.
Lockhart stole far more adventures than he had imagined; besides those officially written in books, there were many other stories unsuitable for novelization.
I wonder when some righteous person will expose these things.
Oh, right.
Morris suddenly remembered that Dumbledore and Fudge had talked about Lockhart back in Hagrid's Hut.
The good days are almost over.
Morris decided to practice Legilimency as much as possible before the other party was captured by Azkaban.
Such good practice partners are hard to find.
Tsk tsk tsk.
