After receiving the five thousand Galleon, Morris was in a good mood all day the next day.
As evening approached, Dumbledore again summoned him to the office.
Undoubtedly, it's about Sirius Black.
Upon arriving at the office, Morris was surprised to find that there was another person inside.
Professor Lupin.
He sat at his desk, his expression somber, head bowed, saying nothing.
He managed a forced smile only after seeing Morris enter.
"Hello, Professor."
Morris greeted him and naturally sat down next to him.
Dumbledore made no small talk this time.
He glanced at Lupin and said calmly, " Professor Lupin has provided a crucial piece of information: Peter is indeed Animagus in rat form."
"I guessed so," Morris nodded. "Then why did you call me here?"
"Listen to me, Morris, don't rush," Dumbledore's voice remained calm. "More than a decade ago, Sirius was sent to Azkaban without a formal trial. Now the Ministry of Magic has reopened his case, even using Veritaserum."
Morris wasn't too surprised to hear this.
For a criminal of Sirius's caliber, using Veritaserum is a perfectly normal thing.
Interrogation is convenient in the magical world.
"So, Sirius Black framed?"
"According to his account, that is indeed the case," Dumbledore frowned slightly, "But the problem is that Veritaserum is not entirely ineffective. If Sirius is to be completely exonerated, he must find another key witness, namely Peter himself."
Morris immediately understood the situation.
Simply put, Sirius needs to catch Peter to prove his innocence.
Dumbledore's involvement in this matter clearly indicates that he is on Sirius's side.
A troublesome development.
But it has nothing to do with him.
Since the prize money is already in his hands, how can he take it back?
There's absolutely no way he'll cough up the money!
Seeing Morris's wary expression, Dumbledore chuckled softly. " Morris, do you have any way to find Peter?"
"Me?" Morris paused for a moment, then pointed to himself.
Isn't that giving him too much credit?
Dumbledore nodded. "After all, you captured Sirius Black. Not everyone can see through an Animagus."
Morris paused for two seconds, then asked, "Is there a bonus?"
Dumbledore didn't respond, but simply smiled and looked at him.
"All right."
Morris sighed.
"I'll give it a try," he said, "But I can't guarantee I'll catch them."
Morris wasn't very serious about finding Peter.
Or rather, it's that I'm unable to take it seriously.
None of the spells he knew could be used to locate people.
The only thing we can do is to make the Guantou keep a closer eye on things – catching mice is the cat's job, after all.
When the Guantou heard the news, it was so happy it almost flew away.
It was very touching.
The time has finally come when it can be put to good use!
As its master's first undead creature, it can't just sit idly by.
Seeing the Guantou food's spirited appearance, Morris simply smiled.
To be honest, he never had any expectations for Guantou food.
However, the next morning...
As Morris finished his Animagus daily task and entered the Ravenclaw Common Room, Guantou suddenly rushed out.
What it was carrying in its mouth was Ron's long-lost fat rat.
"Um?"
Morris was stunned.
The Guantou raised its head smugly, tossed the struggling gray mouse to its feet, then stood up with its hands on its hips, looking like it wanted to praise it.
The mouse, Scabbers, or rather Peter, trembled and tried to escape, but Guantou pinned it to the ground with one paw, rendering it unable to move.
Morris looked down at the scene, momentarily at a loss for words.
Is it that fast?
Never mind, as long as the result is good.
Morris crouched down and carefully examined the mouse.
Without a doubt, it is Animagus.
He can now accurately identify Animagus's unique aura—of course, when he is fully focused.
"Well done." Morris rubbed the Guantou's cold head.
He drew his wand and waved it, and the rat immediately floated up, as if being pulled, hovering behind him.
"Let's go," Morris stood up, "To see the principal. We can also make it in time for breakfast."
"Meow"
As Morris reached the platform at the top of the spiral staircase, two familiar figures suddenly appeared before him.
Ron and Draco Malfoy.
Draco wasn't with his two henchmen; his expression was sinister, somewhat like he was sleep-deprived.
Ron's face was flushed red, as if he was about to pounce on the enemy and start a fight.
Upon seeing Morris, Ron's eyes lit up, and he waved and called out, " Morris, over here!"
"You just wait."
Draco's expression changed, and he turned and ran, disappearing at the end of the corridor in the blink of an eye.
Morris asked Ron curiously, "What's wrong with you two now?"
Ron looked furious. " Malfoy says he wants to duel me and test his new magic."
"Don't fall for it, Ron," Morris warned.
Draco definitely didn't have good intentions.
Ron nodded. "I know, Malfoy's definitely up to something... Hey, what's that!?"
He fixed his gaze on the floating rat behind Morris, his eyes widening instantly.
" Scabbers!"
Ron rushed over, hugged the mouse to his chest, his face full of surprise.
"Did you find Scabbers? What happened to it? Why is it floating?"
Morris looked at him, a hint of sympathy creeping onto his face.
"Come with me, Ron, we're going to the Headmaster's Office."
Ron looked bewildered. "Why?"
You'll see when you get there.
Headmaster's Office.
After Morris and Ron went in, Dumbledore stood up from behind his desk and gently waved his wand.
The door closed automatically behind me.
Ron, holding Scabbers tightly, grew increasingly anxious. "What happened?"
Lupin took a deep breath, walked over to Ron, and said in a low voice, " Ron, put it on the table."
"It?" Ron glanced instinctively at the mouse in his hand.
He didn't know what was going on, but he did as instructed anyway.
Scabbers struggled to climb down the table, but Dumbledore used a Binding Charm to bind it.
"Professor!" Ron exclaimed, "Why?"
No one answered him.
Only the Guantou barked at him.
Lupin walked to the table, stared at the mouse, and said coldly, "Are you still going to pretend in front of me, Peter?"
The mouse began to tremble violently.
"What's going on?" Ron shouted, as if realizing something. "Can anyone tell me what happened?"
Morris patted him on the shoulder.
My condolences, brother.
As soon as he finished speaking, the mouse on the table began to twist and Transfiguration violently.
