Hidden Lineage and Slaughter City

Ye Chenxi inherited the leadership of the Seven Kill Sword's hidden branch when its surviving membership was close to extinction. Unlike the public Seven Kill Sword Sect, her branch concealed itself while pursuing the Slaughter God's inheritance through battle, slaughter, and sword-heart cultivation. She had followed this path since childhood 69 70 75.

She and her husband, Meng Yunping, left their family and young son to enter Slaughter City. During her divine examination on Hell Road, they underestimated the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King. Meng Yunping burned his life to grievously wound it and cover her escape, leaving Ye Chenxi with lasting grief and guilt 66 68 70.

Her final examination required her to kill the Bat King within ten years. After failing her first attempt, she cultivated to Level 99 while waiting for it to reappear. The creature remained hidden, recovering in the blood pool within Hell Road 68 69.

Reunion and Meng Yunping's Return

As King of Slaughter, Ye Chenxi summoned Meng Qianqiu after learning of his ninety consecutive arena victories, poison abilities, and Manggu Vermilion Toad Martial Soul. Revealing her identity reunited them after more than ten years apart, though their long separation initially left some distance between them 68.

She encouraged him to seek the Asura God King's inheritance rather than compete for her own divine succession. She also warned him to conceal his Seven Kill Sword until reaching Titled Douluo, because exposure could endanger the hidden lineage 69.

The hundred-thousand-year Mirror Shadow Beast skull she entrusted to him contained Meng Yunping's remnant soul. Meng Qianqiu used Holy Soul Grass to restore him as a Soul Spirit; the herb's released spiritual power also helped Ye Chenxi form her Lucid Sword Heart. She then absorbed the skull bone to house her husband's soul and vowed to restore him fully to life 71 72.

Hell Road and the Revised Ninth Trial

Ye Chenxi escorted Meng Qianqiu through Hell Road after he earned his hundredth victory. She killed the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent with the Seven Kill Sword, initially worrying that killing it outright had spoiled his hunt. He explained that the primordial beast yielded an inner core rather than a Soul Ring 72.

At the blood-pool altar, the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King abandoned its body and attempted to possess Meng Qianqiu. Ye Chenxi could not intercept it, but Meng Qianqiu destroyed the intruder within his sea of consciousness 74.

With the Bat King dead, her Ninth Trial changed 74:

After leaving Slaughter City, she reunited with the Meng Family. Meng Yunping explained that her eventual ascension as the next Slaughter God could enable his bodily resurrection 76.

Cooperation with Spirit Hall

Ye Chenxi accompanied the Meng Family to meet Qian Daoliu and proposed cooperation between Slaughter City and Spirit Hall. She made her position explicit: if an agreement could not be reached, she would take Meng Qianqiu and Meng Zhongqi away with her 79.

At her son's request, she later supervised seven companions through Slaughter City's trials. She used extensive assistance to help them qualify, particularly the support-type Soul Master Ye Renxin, who took a year and a half to obtain his hundred victories. Spirit Hall's supply of imprisoned Evil Soul Masters helped sustain the trials and their blood-sacrifice requirements 85 102.

After escorting all seven through Hell Road, she warned them about their newly acquired Divine Slaughter's Domains and led them to the Star Dou Great Forest. Two months of hunting secured their next Soul Rings and prepared them for provincial bishop appointments 102 103 107.

Tang Chen's Death

Qian Daoliu directed Tang Chen toward Slaughter City in the hope that he and Ye Chenxi would weaken or kill one another. Warned of the scheme, Meng Qianqiu gathered his mother and grandfather to intercept him 137 138.

During the confrontation, Meng Zhongqi immobilized Tang Chen with Unfixed Storm, allowing Ye Chenxi to strike with her Seven Kill Sword Dao. Her sword killed Tang Chen and consumed his remaining vital essence, reducing his body to dust. She used the result to demonstrate the hidden lineage's cultivation method to Meng Qianqiu 140.

Her husband's sacrifice leaves her burdened by guilt and longing. His return as a Soul Spirit brings her to tears, but she quickly turns that reunion into a determination to resurrect him. Once persuaded to absorb his soul's vessel, she acts decisively 71 72.

In battle, she is ruthless and openly proud of earning her title through slaughter. With her son's companions, she is more informal: she complains about being treated as a nanny, yet spends substantial time protecting and equipping them 75 85 107.
