Arc 13Bloody Night and New Ventures

Ed prepared the barony for a Blood Corpse assault as players fought the first major wave and discovered that the poison could spread after resurrection. The players developed ways to track the horde while Ed set up insurance and body retrieval services, and Dark Archmage left for Dragonborn Village with a blowpipe to mark Blood Corpses.

  • Tiya told Ed that her grandfather had been healed by two Short-Eared Elves who called themselves sealmasters, and Ed wondered if they might have been a short-eared, elf-like people like those around him.
  • Western Sharpshooter and Gill's Cuisine rented an inn room to store their belongings, while Ed announced purchasable land and a Root Network that linked two locations.
  • As players and NPCs prepared defenses around the barony and White Wax Town, Darnell spotted about two hundred Blood Corpses approaching and sounded the alarm.
  • Zhongde and three companions fought the horde, but a giant Blood Corpse destroyed their watchtower and killed them, and Xiexie Huigu and other players then rallied to meet the advancing horde.
  • The players killed 228 Blood Corpses, but several revived fighters showed signs of spreading Corpse Poison, and Ed’s update explained how Will affected transformation and how players could treat the infection.
  • Ed asked Duolin to report the Blood Corpses’ return to the Tree Worship Church and request reinforcements, while he also arranged adventurer ranks and metal tags.
  • Players found ways to mark Blood Corpses with Fluorescent Velvet Grass and experimented with aberrant plants, while Ed increased construction and supply rewards and recruited Seraphina to launch insurance and body retrieval services.
  • Dark Archmage bought the first insurance policy, then visited Cole’s smithy and tested a free iron tube as a blowpipe for firing a severed finger as a dart.
Chapters 301–325 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 301You're Not Elves at All. What Exactly Are You?

Ed heard Tiya's family had repeatedly told a story about two "Short-Eared Elves" who cured her grandfather's illness nearly a century earlier. Their insistence on the description made Ed suspect they were not elves at all, and he realized everyone present belonged to a species that resembled elves but had shorter ears.

  • Tiya hurried to the castle to tell Ed about the story her father had recalled.
  • Number Four told Ed that Tiya's stories had kept the surviving test subjects' spirits up, and that she had reached the tale of two Short-Eared Elves who cured Tiya's grandfather.
  • Ed took Number Four to find Tiya, who had arrived at the castle and confirmed that the elves had called themselves sealmasters.
  • Ed, Number Four, and Tiya visited the inn, where Tiya's father used the same term, "Short-Eared Elves."
  • Ed concluded that the two travelers might not have been elves, then realized the people around him were themselves a short-eared, elf-like species.

Ch. 302The Dev Team's Hobby Was Lurking on the Forums

Ed learned that two powerful elves had sealed the Blood Grand Dukes, but he kept the clue to himself and returned to the castle. Meanwhile, [Gill's Cuisine] and [Western Sharpshooter] discussed their side hustle, the coming Blood Corpse event, and a cheap way to store their belongings.

  • Ed confirmed with Tiya's father that the mysterious sealers had been called sealers, then wondered whether they could return to honor their warranty.
  • Ed left the inn with Number Four and headed back to the castle.
  • [Western Sharpshooter] was surprised to learn he had earned a thousand dollars from the side hustle, and [Gill's Cuisine] encouraged him to quit wasting time on drinking.
  • [Gill's Cuisine] and [Western Sharpshooter] decided they could pursue the Blood Corpse event while continuing to earn money.
  • [Gill's Cuisine] found a forum thread about renting a cheap room near the castle and suggested using one to store their items.
  • [Western Sharpshooter] doubted that leaving their belongings at the inn would be safe.

Ch. 303"I Have a Home in Another World?"

Gill's Cuisine and Western Sharpshooter rented a room to use for storage before heading into the jungle. Ed announced that players could buy plots of land and introduced the Root Network, sparking excitement among players and construction workers.

  • Gill's Cuisine explained that players had begun adopting house rules to discourage stealing, and Western Sharpshooter joked about using the game to protect valuables.
  • Gill's Cuisine and Western Sharpshooter rented the last first-floor room at the inn for thirteen silver coins a month, then headed into the jungle.
  • Ed decided to add purchasable land after seeing a popular forum comment and prepared a hotfix announcement.
  • Ed announced land purchases in safe and neutral zones, limits on plot size and number, and a new Root Network featuring a two-location teleportation tree.
  • Players celebrated the chance to own land and discussed fighting the blood corpses, while construction workers also became excited.

Ch. 304Those with property have steadfast hearts

Players reacted to the announcement that they could buy land, and Cui Yuan concluded that the coming Bloody Night and the new plots signaled a major expansion of World of Disorder. He uploaded a video urging people to join, while the chapter also described several popular creators’ different approaches to covering the game.

  • Zhongde celebrated the chance to buy land and planned to turn his construction crew, Be Yourself in the Concrete, into a company called I Have an Apartment in Another World.
  • Cui Yuan judged that thousands of Blood Corpses would make the Bloody Night far larger than the battle for White Wax Town and that players would carry much of the fight.
  • Cui Yuan concluded that private plots would attract more players and make current players more eager to fight, then wrote a video script promoting the game.
  • Cui Yuan uploaded a video titled “Now is the best time to get into World of Disorder!”
  • The chapter described Great Wei Boxing Champion’s lore videos, Steady and Sure Biology Laboratory’s creature and plant guides, Evergreen Tree’s potion experiments, and Concrete Pouring Club’s construction-site videos.

Ch. 305No One Could Be Left Out of the Event

As players prepared for the Bloody Night event, Ed watched the Second Holy See mobilize and build defenses around White Wax Town and the barony. Three days into construction, teams headed for the border, and Ed spotted former test subject Darnell among them.

  • Zhong Lele expanded her popular videos about random quests and NPCs while preparing a remix of players screaming.
  • Great Wei Boxing Champion's video about buying land drew attention, and commenters explained why players valued World of Disorder as a realistic digital home.
  • More than half the players began earning contribution points for the prize pool, while others prepared for Bloody Night or continued their usual routines.
  • Ed recognized that even laid-back players indirectly supported the Second Holy See through fishing and greenhouse work.
  • Under Ed's orders, players and NPCs built watchtowers and rapidly growing hollow plants around the barony and White Wax Town.
  • After three days, Tree Worship Church teams headed for the border, where Ed spotted Darnell among the combat engineers and militia.

Ch. 306The Vanguard

Darnell’s watch squad spotted a large group of Blood Corpses approaching the forest and sent a signal for reinforcements. The four retreated to a teleportation tree, where they waited as something began to emerge from it.

  • Darnell kept watch with three teammates at a forest-edge tower and recalled wishing he had joined [Gungnir].
  • Darnell and Uncle Ouden spotted antlike Blood Corpses gathering in the wasteland and moving toward the forest.
  • Darnell fired the signal gun, while the other two militia lit the prepared signal fire.
  • Uncle Ouden estimated there were about two hundred Blood Corpses, and Darnell led the squad to wait by a nearby teleportation tree.
  • As the Blood Corpses approached and the signal fire blazed, the tree began to writhe as though something was about to emerge.

Ch. 307"Clash of Clans"

[Zhongde] and his three roommates responded to an alarm that around two hundred Blood Corpses were approaching White Wax Town. After sharing the location with other players, they prepared to hold off the advance force and charged into battle.

  • A watchtower alarmed White Wax Town, and [Zhongde] led [Add Ice Fiercely], [Brain Bling], and [Enemy from the Sky] through a teleportation tree to investigate.
  • Darnell told [Zhongde] that a leader and around two hundred Blood Corpses were approaching from the woods.
  • [Zhongde] and his roommates posted the Blood Corpses’ location on the forum, then told Darnell and the other NPCs to rest.
  • [Zhongde] and the other three readied their weapons and abilities as dozens of Blood Corpses charged toward them.
  • The four roommates shouted and charged the Blood Corpses, beginning a fight to the death.

Ch. 308Taking Down a Tower Was Always Better Than Spawn-Camping

[Zhongde] and his three roommates fought off the Blood Corpses near the teleportation tree, then climbed a watchtower to keep the horde from blocking the spawn point. As Blood Corpses climbed after them, the group spotted a huge monster outside the woods preparing to ram the tower.

  • [Zhongde] killed a Blood Corpse that slashed his throat, then used a Vine Bandage Pack to seal the wound and stop his bleeding.
  • With more Blood Corpses closing in, [Zhongde] warned his roommates that retreating farther would leave the teleportation tree exposed.
  • [Zhongde] led [Brain Bling], [Enemy from the Sky], and [Add Ice Fiercely] up a watchtower, where they fought off Blood Corpses climbing the ladder.
  • [Add Ice Fiercely] excitedly compared the fight to Dead Rising, while [Brain Bling] spotted a huge monster outside the woods preparing to ram the tower.

Ch. 309Kiting Was Better Than Feeding

[Zhongde] and his party were overwhelmed when a giant Blood Corpse destroyed their watchtower, then went offline after being killed. [Xiexie Huigu]'s group arrived to face the horde, but [Second-Class Biscuit] pulled him away and urged them to kite the Blood Corpses.

  • A giant Blood Corpse smashed the watchtower, which collapsed and dropped [Zhongde], [Brain Bling], [Add Ice Fiercely], and [Enemy from the Sky] into the horde.
  • The Blood Corpses killed the four players, and [Zhongde] reflected that they should have kited the monsters before he went offline.
  • After seeing [Zhongde]'s warning, [Xiexie Huigu] and his level-two party rushed to the forest instead of logging off.
  • The group found the wrecked watchtower and bodies as more than a hundred Blood Corpses advanced toward them.
  • [Second-Class Biscuit] grabbed [Xiexie Huigu] and ran, declaring that the first Blood Corpse response rule was to kite them rather than fight head-on.

Ch. 310One pull, one tug, __________.

Ed watched the players battle the Blood Corpses outside White Wax Town and noticed that these monsters moved more slowly than Gray had described. As more players joined, they formed a defensive line, but a horned Blood Corpse prepared to charge them.

  • [Xiexie Huigu] and his team switched to attacking while moving, and Ed observed their fight as he secretly absorbed the dead Blood Corpses.
  • Ed noticed that the Blood Corpses were slower than Gray's account suggested and planned to ask Gray about the discrepancy.
  • [Xiexie Huigu] realized that players were arriving slowly because it was daytime in their real world, while players called for reinforcements on the forums.
  • As the player count rose to sixty, the players formed an arc-shaped line and repelled several probing attacks, killing seven or eight Blood Corpses.
  • A humanlike Blood Corpse appeared beside a massive, horned monster, which lowered its head and prepared to charge the player formation.

Ch. 311Making Good Use of Player Traits

The players defeated the Blood Corpses at the edge of White Wax Town after using Deadwood Vines to trap the minotaur elite. Ed prepared an announcement and difficulty questionnaire as the players counted their losses and arranged to recover fallen squad members.

  • The players cleared the ordinary Blood Corpses and surrounded the remaining minotaur and short elite Blood Corpses.
  • [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] trapped the minotaur with four Deadwood Vines, allowing the players to attack and kill both elites.
  • The battle ended at ten that night, and Ed scheduled an announcement about new mutated plants and Blood Corpse settings alongside a difficulty questionnaire.
  • [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] logged off to return to class, while the remaining players counted 228 Blood Corpses killed and nine Soul Returners lost.
  • [Zhongde] privately asked [Xiexie Huigu] to retrieve his squad's four bodies so they could be resurrected.

Ch. 312Bro, You Smell So Good

After the battle, revived players began showing strange symptoms that left them partly transformed into Half-Blood Corpses. The players restrained them and discovered that their Corpse Poison debuffs were worsening.

  • Xiexie Huigu and the other players revived Zhongde and three companions with Vine Bandage Packs and Nutrient-Rich Resin.
  • A revived player began drooling and saying that the Soul Returners smelled good, prompting his companions to pin him down.
  • Zhongde and his three companions showed similar symptoms after revival, and Xiexie Huigu and his teammates restrained them with weapons.
  • Several more players developed cloudy eyes, pale bluish skin, and darkening fingertips while remaining able to speak and think rationally.
  • A player noticed that her Corpse Poison debuff had changed from moderate to severe, and the others found upward arrows indicating that the poison was spreading.

Ch. 313Very easy, really very easy!

After Blood Corpse attacks left most players infected, they stayed away from White Wax Town and completed Ed’s survey about the Bloody Night event. Nearly all rated its difficulty very easy, prompting Ed to prepare an update announcement.

  • A scratched player realized that [Corpse Poison] was infecting the group, and the players decided to remain away from White Wax Town and the castle to avoid alarming NPCs.
  • Ed’s questionnaire appeared, asking about the players’ interest in Bloody Night, their knowledge of Blood Corpses, and the event’s difficulty.
  • The players joked about their experiences and submitted answers rating Bloody Night very easy.
  • Ed received sixty questionnaires and found that 91.7% rated the difficulty very easy, while the rest rated it somewhat easy.
  • Ed released another update announcement in the game and on the official website.

Ch. 314Even those from another world have to assimilate!

After the update explained Blood Corpse Transformation and how to cure it, players retreated to cleanse their infections and checked the remaining Half-Blood Corpses for dangerously low Will. They found [Chosen of the Four Gods] had Will at 2 and executed him before he could turn against them.

  • The game announcement detailed new aberrant plants, Blood Curse, Corpse Poison, and ways to remove Blood Corpse Transformation.
  • Players learned that low Will could make infected players join the Blood Corpses and that transformation disabled some abilities, so most retreated toward their Trees of Rest.
  • [Xiexie Huigu] checked [Zhongde]'s panel and confirmed his Will was high enough to keep him safe.
  • [Xiexie Huigu] found [Chosen of the Four Gods] delirious, and his panel showed Will at 2.
  • [Xiexie Huigu] called the players to execute [Chosen of the Four Gods], who disconnected as they attacked him.

Ch. 315The Old Vampire Was Poaching Players

Players shared guides and discoveries about surviving Blood Corpses, clearing Corpse Poison, and the effects of Blood Corpse Transformation. The chapter ended with players realizing that a vampire grand duke had contacted [Chosen of the Four Gods] while he was transformed.

  • [Second-Class Biscuit] posted a Blood Corpse survival manual advising players on fighting Corpse Tides and avoiding transformation.
  • [Traditional Eccentric Wheel] discovered that teleporting to a Tree of Rest cleared moderate Corpse Poison, and warned that the method failed after transformation reached a severe stage.
  • [Chosen of the Four Gods] described how his Willpower fell to 2 after transformation and how an aged voice offered him eternal life.
  • Players connected the voice in [Chosen of the Four Gods]'s account to the vampire grand duke who influenced transformed Blood Corpses.

Ch. 316Becoming a Traditional Adventurer in a Less-Than-Traditional World

Ed investigated the Blood Corpses’ connection to the vampire grand duke Antos and planned to contain their awakening while using their bodies for experience. He directed Duolin to seek Church reinforcements and establish ranked adventurer tags, leaving White Wax Town preparing an order of two thousand tags.

  • Ed asked Gray about the Blood Corpses, and Gray identified Antos as a vampire grand duke but knew nothing of the other five.
  • Ed considered alerting the Eternal Domain and Graycast Corridor if the Blood Corpses’ resurgence became too large, but preferred to handle it himself and make use of their bodies.
  • Ed told Duolin to send a Blood Corpse’s head to an archbishop and report that the monsters had reawakened near White Wax Town.
  • Ed instructed Duolin to request reinforcements from the Tree Worship Church and use the threat to argue against paying taxes.
  • Ed told Duolin to create adventurer ranks with metal tags, and Duolin asked Tailun to order two thousand tags from Dragonborn Village.

Ch. 317Master of Aberrant Plant Taming

Ed sent a Blood Corpse head to Duolin, who ordered Aoda to deliver it and a confidential letter to the archbishop in Fir City. Meanwhile, [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] visited [Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop] and learned that her friend had helped the Guide grow seeds that might have inspired the newly added artificial aberrant plants.

  • Ed used the Root Network to send a Blood Corpse head to Duolin and gave nearby players a random quest.
  • A Soul Returner delivered the head to Duolin, who asked Aoda to take it and a letter to the archbishop in Fir City.
  • Aoda packed the head in a wooden box and set off for Fir City.
  • [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] found [Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop] feeding her aberrant plants and watched her make a Deadwood Vine seedling eat its food.
  • [Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop] explained that her robe and gardening tools raised her [Plant Compatibility] to five and that she had helped the Guide grow villagers' seeds.
  • [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] guessed that [Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop]'s seedlings had inspired the new artificial aberrant plants, then left to bring her samples for advice.

Ch. 318Don't Scratch My New Ride

[Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger], [Great Wei Boxing Champion], [Shit Appraisal Master], and [Good Times Don't Last] searched the wilderness for Blood Corpses hiding during the day and found a pack of over a hundred in the woods. They stayed concealed and weighed their mission to track the horde against the danger of fighting it.

  • [Great Wei Boxing Champion] reasoned that Blood Corpses must hide somewhere during the day, and [Shit Appraisal Master] suggested using Resin-Dropping Pines as sticky traps.
  • [Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] spotted a grayish-white shape in a distant patch of woodland, and the group discovered more than a hundred Blood Corpses gathered there.
  • The four ducked behind a mound and estimated that the horde numbered at least a hundred and fifty.
  • [Shit Appraisal Master] worried about losing his gear and brand-new hoofbeast if they fought, while [Great Wei Boxing Champion] agreed they should avoid a direct battle.
  • The group remembered that their assignment was to mark and track the Corpse Tide, so they could not simply leave.

Ch. 319[Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] has marked an enemy

[Good Times Don't Last] and [Shit Appraisal Master] planted mutant-plant traps while [Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] used his blood to lure a Blood Corpse close enough to mark it with fluorescent velvet grass. The group’s plan was underway, but the Blood Corpse returned to its shade without realizing the seed had taken root.

  • [Good Times Don't Last] identified fluorescent velvet grass as a way to mark Blood Corpses so the militia could track them at night.
  • The four players split into teams and agreed to reunite in an hour after carrying out their plan.
  • [Shit Appraisal Master] and [Good Times Don't Last] planted resin-dropping pine seedlings and blood-drinking thornbushes as traps across the plains.
  • [Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] cut his finger and dripped blood near an isolated Blood Corpse to lure it from its shade.
  • [Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] pinned the Blood Corpse, stuffed a fluorescent velvet grass seed into a cut on its neck, and escaped without alerting the others.
  • The Blood Corpse returned to its tree and waited for nightfall as the seed began to take root in its wound.

Ch. 320All for the gaming experience

After players confirmed that Fluorescent Velvet Grass could mark Blood Corpses, Ed adjusted rewards to keep players engaged across different roles. He then contacted Seraphina to discuss a new business opportunity for frontline players.

  • [Good Times Don't Last] and [Litang's Supremely Fierce Tiger] observed a Blood Corpse glowing where Fluorescent Velvet Grass had been implanted and posted the marking method on the forum.
  • [Pond Fish and Old Abyss] and [Vanilla Ice Cream Scoop] published their findings on ways to use the new plants, sparking more experimentation among players.
  • Ed noticed that players were abandoning logistics work to join battles that had already ended, so he raised construction and supply returns by 20%.
  • Ed reviewed player deaths among scouts and frontline fighters and decided to improve their gameplay experience as well.
  • Ed called Seraphina about a money-making opportunity, and she agreed to come to the castle.

Ch. 321Knowledge Has a Peculiar Toxicity

Seraphina expanded the [Dragonborn Labor Company] into several businesses but struggled with the shortage of Dragonborn workers. Ed proposed two possible business ventures and began explaining insurance, leaving Seraphina asking how it would make a profit.

  • Seraphina reorganized Dragonborn Village into the [Dragonborn Labor Company], which ran dragon-powered carts, construction work, shop assistance, and an ironworks.
  • As the number of Soul Returners grew to a thousand, Seraphina worried that her village had too few Dragonborn and imagined taking followers from another dragon.
  • Ed met with Seraphina and praised her progress in managing the company and applying the knowledge he had taught her.
  • Ed proposed two independent business ventures and explained that insurance could help Soul Returners pay part of their body reconstruction costs after death.
  • Seraphina questioned how insurance would earn money, and Ed asked whether she wanted to know where the profit came from.

Ch. 322Seraphina's new line of business

Ed and Seraphina agreed to share profits from Soul Returner insurance and discussed a separate Dragonborn corpse-retrieval service. Ed then marked known Corpse Tide locations on a map, while [Dark Archmage] returned to her inn after losing her equipment and learned she could use a master key.

  • Ed advised Seraphina to expand Soul Returner insurance and charge higher premiums to those with frequent death records.
  • Ed negotiated a half share of the insurance profits, and Seraphina agreed while refusing him a cut of corpse retrieval.
  • Ed proposed that Seraphina's Dragonborn retrieve fallen Soul Returners and their equipment for flexible fees.
  • After Seraphina left, Ed marked known Corpse Tide locations on a map and shelved his surprise attack plan because he lacked enough information about Antos.
  • [Dark Archmage] returned to the inn without her dropped equipment and borrowed a master key to access her rented storeroom.

Ch. 323This World Had Insurance Salespeople Too?

After losing her gear while fighting Blood Corpses alone, [Dark Archmage] planned to commission a blowpipe from the Dragonborn blacksmith Cole so she could mark the creatures without help. On her way to find him, she met a Dragonborn who turned out to be offering insurance and body retrieval services.

  • [Dark Archmage] reviewed advice about using Fluorescent Velvet Grass and realized she needed a way to wound and mark Blood Corpses by herself.
  • [Dark Archmage] thought of using a blowpipe, then decided to ask the blacksmith Cole to make one and retrieve her dropped items afterward.
  • [Dark Archmage] returned the storeroom key to the innkeeper, learned Cole's name, and left to ask around for him.
  • A young female Dragonborn told [Dark Archmage] about Cole, then asked whether she wanted to hear about her services.
  • [Dark Archmage] reluctantly listened to the Dragonborn's pitch and learned she was selling insurance and body retrieval.

Ch. 324Did Your Employees Get Any Training Before Starting Work?

[Dark Archmage] learned about the new insurance and body retrieval services from a newly hired Dragonborn salesperson, then bought a policy before heading toward Dragonborn Village to make blow darts and recover her corpse.

  • A Dragonborn salesperson approached [Dark Archmage], explained that she had recently been fired from the Great Prospects General Store, and described Soul Returners as her target customers.
  • The salesperson explained the insurance premium and coverage, along with the variable price and requirements of the body retrieval service.
  • [Dark Archmage] declined body retrieval but bought a ten-silver-coin insurance policy, becoming the first customer as shown by contract number 00001.
  • [Dark Archmage] headed toward Dragonborn Village to make blow darts and recover her corpse, and a Dragonborn man offered her a ride in his dragon-powered rickshaw.

Ch. 325Seraphina Was Everywhere

[Dark Archmage] visited Cole, a half-dragon blacksmith, to obtain a seamless iron tube for a blowpipe. After demonstrating what she planned to use it for, she left Cole expecting new customers for his work.

  • [Dark Archmage] rode a dragon-powered carriage to Dragonborn Village and went to Cole's smithy.
  • [Dark Archmage] described the iron tube she needed, and Cole brought out one he had hammered by hand years earlier.
  • [Dark Archmage] inspected the tube and accepted it after Cole offered it for free.
  • [Dark Archmage] told Cole that others would soon want iron tubes and urged him to charge for his labor.
  • [Dark Archmage] transformed and severed a finger into a blowdart, then fired it through the tube into Cole's doorframe.
