Leo couldn't imagine the shock Alice felt when she heard from Yaoyao that Leo had withdrawn from the competition. If it weren't for her, Leo's strength would have made it much further. In fact, as the rumors at the time suggested, Leo could have easily made it into the top 100, or even the top 10 or top 3.
This isn't about rankings; it's about honor, it's the Wizard Will recognizing Leo.
If Leo hadn't been so successful, Alice would have blamed herself entirely, because she believed Leo had missed an opportunity to change her fate.
Looking at Alice's stubborn face, Leo felt a pang of heartache and took her hand. It was cool and soothing. "You know I don't care about these things, but if you want to participate, I'll go with you."
"Um."
Alice glanced at the wizards beside her. Although they all seemed to be chatting about their own things, and some even pretended to take out a few wizarding books to read, their ears were standing up higher than those of a big-eared rabbit.
It was obvious that they were eavesdropping on her conversation with Leo.
Alice, her face flushed, pulled her hand away from Leo's, her only thought being to get Leo out of there.
" Alice, let's go to the small room. I don't like having so many people staring at me; they look at me like I'm a monkey."
Yaoyao Yao looked at the wizards around him with disdain, appearing somewhat anxious and uneasy. In reality, however, he was gripping Leo tightly with his claws, his eyes filled with disappointment and frustration towards Leo.
Who does that in front of so many people? Don't they know how to be discreet? Didn't they see Alice's face was redder than a monkey's bottom?
Leo seemed to realize what was happening only afterward, and pulled Alice away. Alice only returned to normal after they entered the small room.
"Don't talk to me yet, let me recover my magic and condition." Alice stopped Leo from approaching. If she let Leo continue to act recklessly, she wouldn't be able to participate in any competitions. She didn't have Leo's abnormal strength that allowed her to defeat opponents without preparation.
She went through a lot of effort to get through the elimination rounds, and now she only has 70% of her strength left.
"Okay, I'll protect you."
Leo shamelessly sat down next to Alice, warily eyeing the door as if a multitude of enemies might burst in at any moment.
Just like two hundred years ago, a level-three giant rat slave walked over and explained the upcoming competition process to all the wizards: wizards would be randomly selected to enter the demiplane competition, the winners would advance to the next round, and the losers would be eliminated—simple and straightforward.
Soon the names of the wizards who were going to compete appeared on the big screen, and unfortunately, the first one was Alice's name.
"Wait for my good news."
Alice, whose condition hadn't fully recovered, had no choice but to go on stage first.
"If you can't win, tell your opponent that your man is a recipient of the First-Class Wizard Medal. If he doesn't want to be retaliated against in the future, he'd better surrender to you obediently."
Only Yaoyao could say such explicit things now. Alice paused after hearing this, but said nothing.
It will take some time to adjust to this change in identity.
After Alice left the teleportation array to participate in the competition in the demiplane, Yaoyao said to Leo as if to show off her achievements, "Wasn't I amazing? Aren't you going to thank me?"
"Why should I thank you? You just want to go to the Ice Palace to freeload Heavenly Capital. And hurry up and hand over the rest of my stuff, or I'll put you in solitary confinement."
Faced with Yao Yao's attempt to Yaoyao, Leo flicked her on the head and said, "You've taken so many benefits from me and you're still not satisfied. Aren't you afraid I'll bring up the old grudges?"
"I didn't. I've returned everything to you."
When Leo tried to take the treasure from her private stash of money, Yaoyao Leo roared at him.
Do you want me to calculate how much you took from me?
Leo smiled, and a ledger suddenly appeared in his hand, listing all the items in his Shadow Space.
"You don't trust me?"
"Have you forgotten who protected your treasures when you were desperate? Now you're turning your back on them and claiming all the losses as mine? I'm just a lowly soul slave, what do I have to offer those things? I think you're trying to kill me. If I don't want to live, neither should you."
Yaoyao grabbed Leo's earlobe and started hitting it repeatedly with her little paws, trying to vent her anger, or rather, trying to kill them both in this way.
"Hehe, then I should thank you instead. Have you ever seen anyone thank a thief for returning their money?"
You insulted me?
"If that's what you think, then you admit you stole my treasure."
Benji lay to the side watching Leo and Yaoyao argue, hesitating whether to take the opportunity to mention that his things were still in Yaoyao Yao's hands.
Thinking about it, I decided against it. If Lady Yaoyao wouldn't even give away Lord Leo's things, then there's no way she'd give him anything.
Thinking of this, Benji carefully hid the witch guide ring under his armpit even more carefully. This was the meager wealth he had accumulated over the past two years, and he couldn't let Lady Yaoyao swindle it away again.
Right there, the teleportation array lit up, instantly silencing Leo and Yaoyao in the small room.
Alice has been teleported back.
The speed was surprisingly fast.
"How did the competition go?" Yaoyao asked excitedly as Alice walked into the room. In his opinion, Alice had a more than 70% chance of passing the first round, and there was basically no possibility of her losing.
Let's go home.
Alice casually announced that she had lost.
"Who? Who dares to beat my Alice?"
" Alice, tell me, and I'll send Leo to kill him right now."
Yaoyao was anxious. Alice valued this competition so much, but she was eliminated in the first qualifying round.
"I'm not going to talk about it anymore. I'm not good enough. Let's go home first." Alice didn't want to mention her match at all.
"Today is the due date for a Gulu Beast, let's go back and have a celebratory feast."
Leo really had no reason to celebrate, but when he suddenly saw Benji, he had a flash of inspiration and came up with this lame excuse.
Benji was completely bewildered. Their Gulu Beast were having baby Gulu Beast born almost every few days. If this was something to celebrate, then Heavenly Capital a day of celebration.
"Okay, I can have the Frost Sprite prepare more food."
The quick-witted Alice understood that this was a reason Leo had given her to avoid embarrassment, and immediately smiled and said...
After the group returned to the Wizard Tower, no one paid any attention to the soon-to-be-born Gulu Beast; instead, they went straight into the Ice Palace.
Upon arriving at the Ice Palace Leo seemed to lose his ability to move; he collapsed and refused to move, simply staying there.
"Fine, fine, whatever you want, but don't bother me. Unlike you, I can't beat anyone. I can't beat anyone."
After Alice finished speaking, she turned around and went back to her room, locking the door tightly, fearing that bad people might sneak in under the cover of darkness and have malicious intentions.
While Alice was in seclusion, Leo took out the crystal ball, and soon a bitter voice came from the other end, "Master Leo, what brings you here?"
" Charlotte, check the list of participants for the first round of the qualifying tournament. Who is Alice's opponent?"
"Okay, I'll check right away," Charlotte said, about to hang up.
"I'll be on a mandatory expeditionary mission in a few decades, get me a few hydrogen bombs."
"Not a single one." Charlotte's attitude was like that of a stubborn individual, the kind who would never give in no matter what torture the enemy used.
"Me neither?"
"Ever since I got one for the Master, all the hydrogen bombs have been sealed up. Not only me, but even the headquarters at Green Cottage has no right to apply for one," Charlotte said dejectedly.
"How about I get the master some more atomic bombs? Those things aren't controlled substances," Charlotte said.
"No need, I can build it myself. Just give me the hydrogen bomb manufacturing process, and I'll do it myself. Also, I need some books, so get them for me too."
After Leo finished speaking, he rattled off a long list of book titles, all of which he remembered from his remaining memories.
These books were among the most advanced scientific works on Earth at the time, and even now, they remain highly valuable for Leo. Some of them even give Leo a sense of profound insight and can provide him with significant assistance.
I once thought that human civilization on Earth was at the lowest level and had nothing to offer compared to the wizarding civilization.
However, as his strength increased, Leo understood why he had raised the level of Earth's humans to the level of second-class native inhabitants. It was because many of the ideas of Earth's humans had extraordinary effects.
Simply put, this is a magical race. Although they are weak, their sudden bursts of intelligence always allow them to come up with wonderful ideas.
"While some of these books are within the scope of control, I have the authority and status of a master to obtain them. The only exception is the hydrogen bomb manufacturing process, which is subject to even higher control than the hydrogen bomb itself. I'm sorry, I can't help you with that."
Charlotte was exhausted. Every time Leo contacted him, it was to create problems for him; there wasn't a single moment of peace.
"Alright then, bring as much as you can."
