"Run! What are you standing there for!"
A stern shout rang out in the alley.
The people in the alley came to their senses and looked in panic at Deng Ming, who had just shouted.
"But the Calamity Beast is right outside the alley, where are we supposed to run to?" Fang Yunshu asked, her face pale.
Everyone turned and quickly began searching.
Screams echoed around them, and the frequency with which people turned their heads increased.
However, this was a dead end to begin with, so where could they possibly run?
As the distant sounds faded, everyone's bodies trembled uncontrollably.
If they can't find a way to escape, they'll likely be met by the Third Tier Calamity Beast that turns back.
"How about this way?" Yu Jingming pointed to the wall that was more than ten meters high in front of him.
"If we could jump that high, we would have left long ago. Why would we be waiting here?" Fang Yunshu said, somewhat emotionally distraught.
The others remained silent, but the same sentiment applied to them.
If they could jump over it, they would have done so already.
"I have a knife. I can stab it halfway across, then use the wall for leverage to jump over," Yu Jingming said, pulling out the knife.
Everyone's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and they urged him on.
"Hurry, hurry up!"
Yu Jingming took a few steps back, then took a running start and jumped.
When he had reached the point of maximum altitude, he suddenly plunged the knife into the wall.
"Laugh--"
The unidentified longsword pierced through smoothly.
Yu Jingming flipped in the air, then bent his knees and leaped up again, successfully climbing to the top of the wall.
The others then imitated his movements, quickly leaping up and then swiftly jumping down.
After everyone jumped off the wall, Yu Jingming took one last look in the direction of the alley.
There, in another vehicle, the people were being slaughtered with little power to resist.
The group climbed over the wall and then ran off into the distance.
After running for a while, Ye Chengyun turned his head and looked at the empty space behind him.
"It seems the Calamity Beast hasn't chased after us."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Deng Ming also turned his head to look, then looked away.
"They might be eating other people, but we still need to keep moving forward, otherwise it'll be troublesome if the Calamity Beast catch up!"
Everyone nodded in agreement and continued running forward.
Yu Jingming ran forward just like them, but he seemed a little lost in thought.
The last scene before he left was still etched in his mind, even though he had seen a similar scene once before, but...
" Yu Jingming, Yu Jingming!" A low voice woke him up.
Yu Jingming snapped out of his daze and looked at Deng Ming with some confusion.
"What's wrong?"
Deng Ming frowned, ignoring what Yu Jingming had been thinking, and said:
"Call the Supervision Bureau and report the situation here. Tell them to come over as soon as possible!"
Yu Jingming nodded somewhat absentmindedly, then picked up his phone and made a call.
The call was answered quickly.
"Mr. Shen Heng, our side..."
The unexpected words made everyone look over with some confusion.
No, you...
"... So you only saw the Calamity Beast at the very beginning, and then you didn't see it again, is that right?"
"Yes, that's right. Including when we were in the car, we've only met that Calamity Beast twice." Fang Yunshu stared blankly at the short-haired girl in front of her, her face still a little pale.
"Okay, I understand. Please wait a moment. We'll let you know when it's time to leave."
The short-haired girl nodded, then turned to leave.
Seeing this, Fang Yunshu quickly said, "Wait, can I stay with you until daytime before leaving?"
The short-haired girl glanced at her, then nodded.
"Yes, that's fine."
"Thank you." Fang Yunshu breathed a sigh of relief.
Perhaps because she had just received permission, or perhaps because the Supervision Bureau had arrived, she completely relaxed.
As my gaze swept across the alley, I saw several people who appeared to be members of the Supervision Bureau questioning different individuals.
There were people with her, another group that successfully escaped, and the driver who drove the car.
After gathering the information, they gathered around a middle-aged man.
After a moment, the middle-aged man nodded slightly and then waited in place.
What's going on here?... Fang Yunshu was a little puzzled, but wisely didn't interfere, instead focusing her gaze on the group of people for a sense of security.
Two minutes later, Fang Yunshu suddenly noticed that the inspectors were all looking in the same direction.
She instinctively looked in that direction as well.
Only then did they notice that the police tape outside the alley had been put up by officers standing nearby at some point.
A figure bowed slightly and crossed the police line.
He was backlit at the alley entrance, so his face was obscured.
All that could be seen was a long sword, its blade gleaming coldly in the dim light, slung diagonally behind him.
The scabbard was matte black, wrapped with several layers of worn dark red straps, which swayed gently with his steps.
He walked in, his gaze sweeping across the alley without saying much, then raised his knife, sheath and all, and rammed it into the pipe beside him.
Strangely, not a single sound that should have been heard came out.
Fang Yunshu looked at the figure with some confusion.
The figure closed its eyes, seemingly sensing something.
"Is this... Inspector Shen?"
Fang Yunshu strained to open her eyes and barely recognized that this was the person who had taught her how to cultivate and who had just been the Yu Jingming called for help.
"But what is he doing?"
Fang Yunshu looked at the figure with some confusion.
As she pondered, the other inspectors slowly approached.
They didn't disturb him, but waited quietly beside him.
Shen Heng quickly scanned his surroundings in his mind, then opened his eyes and looked at Wang Hai.
No trace of the Calamity Beast was found.
Wang Hai frowned upon hearing this, then nodded slightly.
"What's the situation on the ground?" Shen Heng asked, glancing around as he did so.
Aside from living people, the only things at the scene were traces of blood and signs of a struggle; nothing else remained.
"This is what it was like when we arrived; we didn't find any bodies," Han Ling said.
"How many died?" Shen Heng asked Han Ling.
"They checked the number of people, then made some contacts, and found that they couldn't reach five of them."
"Five?" Shen Heng asked, somewhat surprised. "Did you eat all five?"
"It should be!"
Shen Heng frowned slightly, his gaze sweeping across the alleyway once more.
Given the size of a Tier 3 Calamity Beast, it shouldn't be able to eat that much!
In other words, under normal circumstances, some, no, quite a few limbs should have been left behind.
Now, there isn't a single one!
A pitch-black Calamity Beast, not recorded in the Calamity Beast Illustrated Guide?
