Whoosh-!
The Calamity Beast's corpse plummeted with the wind howling around it.
Soon, with a tremendous thud, the Calamity Beast's corpse slammed into the ground.
Shen Heng stood at the edge of the floor and glanced down at the Calamity Beast's corpse, then turned and walked toward the windowsill where he had left his phone and headset.
The Calamity Beast had been dealt with. He needed to retrieve his things first.
"Reporting, the target was struck in the head and has hit the ground!" Han Ling reported, lightly pressing the headset over her right ear.
"Is its death confirmed?" Wang Hai asked.
Han Ling watched carefully for several seconds, confirming that the Calamity Beast indeed showed no signs of moving again.
"Reporting, the target is confirmed dead!"
"Roger!"
Wang Hai stood by the windowsill, looking down at the Calamity Beast's corpse as he replied calmly.
"Looks like Shen Heng's plan went very smoothly..."
"Yes, it did. Very smoothly!" Han Ling smiled. She had thought they would definitely have to blow up the building today.
While the two talked, Shen Heng reached the windowsill as well. He first put his phone back into his pocket, then hooked the headset over his ear again.
The moment he put it on, Wei Leyang's voice came through.
"Huh? No, wait, I'm a little lost here! How did the Calamity Beast suddenly die? And when did Shen Heng come up with a plan?! Aren't we all on the same channel? Why didn't I hear anything about a plan? You didn't secretly set up another channel, did you?"
"I'm not on their channel either!" Wu Cheng said with some resentment.
"Kusou, are they trying to isolate and bully us?" Wei Leyang said angrily.
"All right, all right, there's no special channel. Stop being so dramatic!" Han Ling said with a laugh.
"Then how did you and the captain know about Shen Heng's plan?!" Wei Leyang wasn't buying it.
"I only knew because Shen Heng specifically came over to tell me. As for the captain... hmm, I don't know how he knew either!" Han Ling said.
"When you understand someone well enough, it's easy to notice when they do something unusual. Then you just need to think carefully about why they did it. Even if you can't figure out their plan, you can get a rough idea of their objective," Wang Hai replied.
"Something unusual? What did Shen Heng do that was unusual?" Wei Leyang asked.
"When I said we should retreat and blow up the building, Shen Heng suggested holding out and said he wanted his first mission to have a satisfactory conclusion!" Wang Hai said.
"That's..." Wei Leyang couldn't help furrowing his brows as he listened.
"You people play so dirty!" Wu Cheng marveled.
"+1!" Wei Leyang agreed.
Han Ling nodded in deep agreement. If she hadn't been in on this plan, she would have wanted to join in too.
"So what exactly was the plan?"
Wei Leyang had been between the floor Shen Heng and the others were on and the top floor the entire time. Everything he knew about what was happening elsewhere came through his headset.
And Shen Heng hadn't communicated his plan over the headset, so Wei Leyang had no idea what had just happened.
All he knew was that while the captain was still doing a perfectly good job of keeping it occupied upstairs, Han Ling had suddenly announced that the Calamity Beast was dead!
"Let's have Shen Heng explain the plan. I only knew his objective, not the specific plan," Wang Hai said.
"Sure!" Shen Heng said. "Simply put, we secretly moved Han Ling to one of the walls Wu Cheng was watching. Then, when the Calamity Beast emerged on Wu Cheng's side as usual, it was caught off guard and shot dead!"
"Couldn't this Calamity Beast hear Han Ling's movements? How did you get around that?!" Wei Leyang asked.
Shen Heng said, "Isn't my ability pretty similar to that? So I understand this area fairly well, including how to deal with this type of ability!"
"Uh... does that count as countering yourself?" The corner of Wei Leyang's mouth twitched.
"I suppose so!" Shen Heng smiled.
"So, for one thing, I had the captain keep chasing the Calamity Beast so it wouldn't have much attention to spare for what was happening below."
"For another, with Han Ling's reminder, I left a phone playing a recording in her original spot to create the illusion that I'd left alone and Han Ling was still there!"
"That's how we secretly moved Han Ling over!"
"Hiss... that's dirty!" Wu Cheng drew in a small breath of cold air.
"+1!" Wei Leyang quietly agreed.
The corners of Han Ling's lips curled up slightly. This time, she didn't feel like agreeing. After all, she had a share in the praise.
As they talked, Wang Hai had already brought Wei Leyang down from upstairs.
"All right, let's head down!"
Shen Heng looked up at the others walking toward the stairwell, then stepped forward to follow them.
Five minutes later, beside the Calamity Beast's corpse at the foot of the building.
Shen Heng looked over the Calamity Beast's corpse. It had nearly become a meat pancake, and blood covered the surrounding ground, though its original general shape was still recognizable.
Wang Hai looked at the Calamity Beast's corpse and thought for a while, then looked up and around at everyone. Just as he was about to speak, his gaze was drawn to Shen Heng's still-furrowed brows.
"What's wrong? Are you injured?" Wang Hai looked at Shen Heng.
"No. I stayed several dozen meters away from that Calamity Beast the whole time, so there's nothing seriously wrong. Its sound waves just harassed me for so long that my head feels a little groggy. I'll be fine after some sleep!" Shen Heng shook his head gently.
"That's good!"
Wang Hai nodded and swept his gaze over everyone again.
"Shen Heng contributed the most this time, so once headquarters determines how many points this Calamity Beast is worth, Shen Heng will get forty percent. Everyone else will split the remaining sixty percent equally, meaning fifteen percent each. Any objections?"
"No objections!" Han Ling shook her head. "He kept helping pinpoint the Calamity Beast during the fight, then came up with the plan to kill it at the end. He really did contribute the most!"
"That's not all. If he hadn't pointed out this building at the start, we might've only checked the building the police pointed out, then left after finding no Calamity Beast!" Wei Leyang added.
"Right? So there's absolutely no problem with him getting the biggest share!" Han Ling said with a smile.
Wei Leyang nodded in agreement.
Wu Cheng, meanwhile, shuddered all over, his gaze instinctively turning toward Shen Heng.
It wasn't that he objected to this conclusion. He simply couldn't help recalling the comment he'd made about Shen Heng upstairs earlier.
If Shen Heng could kill the Calamity Beast, he could eat through his nostrils!
So now... did this count as Shen Heng killing it?
After thinking it over, Wu Cheng nodded with an easy conscience.
Hmm... it didn't matter whether it counted or not. He hadn't said it aloud anyway!
"All right, since no one objects, it's settled!" Wang Hai announced.
Hearing this, Shen Heng couldn't help the corners of his lips lifting slightly.
His first batch of points was finally about to come in. How many would there be?
Hmm... how many points did a Second Tier Calamity Beast start at again?
Shen Heng recalled what the captain had told him before.
Untiered started at ten points, First Tier at fifty, Second Tier at three hundred...
So this Calamity Beast was worth at least three hundred points?
Forty percent of three hundred meant he would get at least a hundred and twenty points, and that was only the minimum...
At that thought, Shen Heng instinctively glanced at the Calamity Beast's corpse again.
Hmm, a mangled mess of flesh and blood...
Hopefully that wouldn't reduce the points he might earn!
