The Extreme Realm Had No Decency
Willow Capital was the only great mortal city through which the Crimson River flowed.
Night.
The streets of Willow Capital blazed with lights.
A thousand night-market lamps lit the jade-green clouds; in lofty towers, red sleeves fluttered amid throngs of guests.
In the bustling streets, where people came and went.
Banners hung high outside nighttime establishments everywhere, drawing customers.
On the smooth, brick-paved streets, servants carrying shoulder poles hawked their wares on their way home.
From within the towering wooden buildings, the lingering notes of flutes drifted out from time to time.
Along with the sweet, warbling moans of women.
"I never expected the Extreme Realm to change our faces."
Beside a dock along the street, a man and a woman stood quietly.
They were none other than Lin Tian and Ziwei.
By now, the masks on their faces had vanished.
Lin Tian now looked completely different from his original appearance.
Though his features were refined, they fell short of his true face's handsomeness.
Ziwei, meanwhile, had turned into a woman.
"The Extreme Realm is shameless. It actually turned me into a woman."
Ziwei pursed her lips, her face filled with helplessness and displeasure.
Lin Tian glanced at her.
Lifting the sword in his hand, he said mildly:
"Actually, there's no difference between killing women and killing men."
Ziwei was horrified and stared at Lin Tian as though she had seen a ghost.
On the balcony of a tall building in Willow Capital.
Su Nan, the Su Clan's eldest son, sat in a wheelchair.
He looked down over Willow Capital's countless household lights, his brows furrowed with worry.
"Eldest Young Master, Qi Liancheng of the Joyous Immortal Sect requests an audience."
A servant's voice sounded outside the door.
Delight crossed Su Nan's face, and he immediately turned his wheelchair around.
"Someone from the Joyous Immortal Sect. Entertain Young Master Qi first. I'll be right there."
"Yes."
The servant's departing footsteps sounded.
Just then.
Two figures rose from below the building.
They landed on the balcony where Su Nan sat.
"You-who are you?"
Startled, Su Nan hurriedly maneuvered his wheelchair backward a little.
"Don't panic. We're from the Wenren Lineage. Naturally, we've come to Willow Capital for the Fire Nether Forbidden Land."
Ziwei spoke first.
Su Nan frowned as he looked over Lin Tian and Ziwei, then said:
"The Wenren Lineage of the Capital? Are they famous?"
"Uh, well..."
Ziwei was at a loss for words.
The Wenren Clan was an identity the Extreme Realm had given them. Truthfully, she had never heard of it either.
"Just a small lineage," Lin Tian said with a smile.
Some of the wariness on Su Nan's face faded, and he asked:
"What realms are you both in?"
"We're both Mystic Core."
Su Nan fell briefly silent, then smiled somewhat apologetically:
"Sorry, you probably didn't notice, but I can only bring a limited number of people. Mystic Pill Realm strength really is... a little..."
Lin Tian nodded and asked:
"How many places do you have in total?"
"There are already eight people now. I only chose to keep them after putting them through round after round of screening."
As Su Nan spoke, he maneuvered his wheelchair over to the table and poured two cups of tea for Lin Tian and Ziwei.
"I appreciate your good intentions, but the Fire Nether Forbidden Land is simply too dangerous. Even surviving would be difficult for someone at Mystic Core."
Ziwei's mouth fell slightly open. By now, she was already inwardly cursing the Extreme Realm.
Even surviving would be difficult at Mystic Core.
She might be a heaven's chosen, but that wasn't how you were supposed to use one.
"No decency at all."
Ziwei cursed under her breath, then looked at Lin Tian.
Lin Tian continued:
"How do you test people's strength?"
Seeing that Lin Tian still refused to give up, Su Nan said somewhat impatiently:
"A lineage elder at the ninth level of Void Insight is traveling with me. He handles the tests of strength. He's already gone to bed. He's right next door."
As Su Nan spoke, he pointed to the right.
There was naturally a hint of warning in his words.
"All right."
Lin Tian chuckled.
Clang!
The crisp sound of a blade leaving its sheath rang through the room.
Su Nan's expression changed drastically.
Swish!
Two flashes of sword light swept past, and Lin Tian sliced straight through the wall.
"Heh heh, you're rather arrogant, junior."
Beyond the rising dust, a burly man's voice faded in and out as he spoke coldly.
With the Heavenly Sword pointing diagonally at the floor, Lin Tian said unconcernedly:
"Fight me. I want to see what sort of strength the Void Penetration Realm has."
The man opposite him continued sneering.
"Then shall we fight outside?"
"All right."
Lin Tian and the man walked toward the balcony.
"Uncle Jian, don't kill him. Just teach him a lesson."
Su Nan hurriedly reminded him.
"Rest assured, Eldest Young Master."
Uncle Jian answered, then jumped straight down from the building.
"What happened?"
"Look, cultivators are about to fight!"
"What a powerful presence! Everyone, get back!"
On the street, passersby looked at Lin Tian and Uncle Jian with curiosity.
In this world, mortals made up the majority.
The Mystic Pill Realm was enough to hold a lineage in check.
The Void Penetration Realm was rarer still.
"Let's fight over the Crimson River, so we don't hurt any passersby."
Uncle Jian said this to Lin Tian, then flew straight toward the great river.
Lin Tian narrowed his eyes slightly and followed closely behind Uncle Jian.
High in the building, Su Nan watched this scene with a frown and said to Ziwei behind him:
"Don't worry. Uncle Jian won't kill your lineage member."
Ziwei glanced at Su Nan, then jumped straight out the window.
A large runic disk formed beneath her feet, and she too flew toward the river.
"A formation master!"
Su Nan exclaimed in surprise, instantly feeling some regret over his earlier words.
Formation masters were far too rare.
A Mystic Pill Realm formation master would be more useful to the group than someone in the Void Penetration Realm.
Meanwhile, above the river.
Lin Tian and Uncle Jian stood facing each other.
"Boy, there's still time to regret this."
Uncle Jian chuckled and extended one hand. A dark-gold hammer engraved with dragon patterns appeared in his grasp.
With the sudden change in weight, ripples instantly spread beneath his feet.
"I'd like to ask something."
Lin Tian spoke.
"Hmm?" Uncle Jian frowned.
"Where does your confidence come from?"
In an instant, Lin Tian's imposing presence surged.
The Heavenly Sword pointed straight at Uncle Jian.
Hum!
The sword's ringing echoed over the Crimson River.
Boom!
An invisible, terrifying pressure erupted from Lin Tian in waves.
His expression was as still as a mirror, and a massive wave thirty zhang high instantly rose beneath his feet.
Azure!
Azure light instantly dyed the entire towering wave.
Like a vast reservoir releasing its waters, surging sword momentum swept out.
Uncle Jian's pupils contracted sharply. Feeling the killing chill stab straight into his heart, he hurriedly raised his hammer to block.
Crash!
The towering wave slammed into him.
Every drop of water seemed imbued with Sword Qi as it stabbed past his body.
"Sword momentum! Sword momentum!"
Uncle Jian cried out, Spiritual Qi erupting from his entire body.
A brilliant blue halo instantly enveloped him.
Then he raised his hammer and smashed it heavily against the water's surface.
Boom!
The water exploded, and a huge crater appeared.
Uncle Jian fought water with water.
But he was still driven back at tremendous speed.
It was just then.
A dazzling azure light pierced through the curtain of water filling the sky.
Lin Tian came charging in for the kill.
Bang!
Uncle Jian raised his hammer and struck the sword tip.
Sparks burst forth amid the clash of metal.
Crack, crack!
The sound shocked Uncle Jian. The sword had pierced into his hammer?
Just how sharp was this sword?
"Impossible!"
Uncle Jian cried out.
He extended his left hand and tapped two fingers against the air.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Streaks of blue light appeared and sank into the hammer, which burst with radiance.
He hurriedly pulled the hammer back and swung it at Lin Tian in a throwing motion.
A brilliant blue phantom instantly appeared.
It was a hammer, but hundreds of times larger than the one in Uncle Jian's hand.
In an instant, the entire Crimson River was lit up by blue light.
By the docks, the onlookers watched with pounding hearts.
They could not see Lin Tian or Uncle Jian.
But they could see the spectacle unfolding with tremendous force.
Bang!
In the middle of the Crimson River, the phantom of a massive hammer struck the water.
Centered on Uncle Jian and Lin Tian, ring after ring of water walls surged up, spreading relentlessly in all directions.
Rumble!
As though soft thunder had suddenly stirred on the horizon, furious waves reared like a host of dragons upon the great river.
"Run!"
"Danger!"
"The Crimson River is going to be cleaved in two!"
The spectators on the bank were already beside themselves with fear and scattered like birds and beasts.
