"My God----"
Sam walked down the extremely cramped corridor that had been renovated and couldn't help but sigh.
The sunsets in Denver are short; just a few minutes after he stepped into the mansion, it was completely shrouded in darkness.
In the desolate wilderness, if he didn't turn on the lights, it would be pitch black.
Sam unconsciously touched the batteries in his pocket.
If your flashlight runs out of power deep inside the mansion, you're really in big trouble.
He has to use it sparingly.
"Click"
Sam turned on the flashlight.
The tungsten bulb illuminated a fan-shaped area ahead in a dim yellow light, allowing him to barely see the road.
"SHIT, why does this feel scarier than the game?"
He had a feeling that he had been tricked.
Look at that carpet stained with dark dirt, and look at that wall so old that the wallpaper is cracked.
Especially the awful path he chose; he didn't know what Lin Lixin was thinking, creating so many crooked and twisted corridors inside the mansion.
There wasn't even a window, and the room was only wide enough for one person to pass through, making the already unpleasant atmosphere even more oppressive.
"Let me see—the first fuse should be in this bathroom?"
What kind person would put something like this in the bathroom?
Sam reluctantly raised his trembling hand and shone the flashlight beam into the bathtub.
Sure enough, they found one based on Lin Lixin's clues.
"Hey buddy, you call this a fuse??"
He had assumed it was just a tiny vacuum tube, about the size of a finger.
To my surprise, it was just a stick as thick as an arm, sitting there blankly in the bathtub.
This immediately thwarted his original plan to gather all three of them and go to the basement together.
After all, my carrying capacity is limited; if I'm carrying three of these things, I can forget about using a light.
As he was walking down the second-floor corridor near the window, his flashlight suddenly flickered a few times and then went dark.
"The battery died so quickly??"
Sam was immediately startled and quickly reached into his pocket to change the battery.
He vaguely sensed something passing through the room next door, whether it was his imagination or not.
He glanced out the window instinctively, only to see Lin Lixin tinkering with the graveyard in the backyard.
"F**k!"
This absurd, bizarre, and perverse scene immediately sent chills down Sam's spine.
But his heart was still pounding, unusually loud in the silent mansion.
Honestly, Sam is genuinely scared now.
He wasn't afraid of zombies; he knew perfectly well that those were props made by the props team.
It's not that he's afraid of the dark; Sam is someone who often stays up late playing video games, and it's common for him to wander around aimlessly in the dark in the middle of the night.
So what exactly am I afraid of?
Sam swallowed hard, and with great difficulty, he changed the battery in the dark. He quickly turned on the light and shone it in the direction where the strange noise had come from.
There was nothing there at all.
Fear stems from the unknown.
But then he shook his head.
Sam has keenly noticed another major component of his fear.
nervous.
The tension over resource management and the anxiety over the passage of time.
The battery has a limited capacity, so he must allocate the energy carefully.
At the same time, you should manage your supplies as efficiently as possible.
Up to now, I haven't encountered anything scary at all.
Lin Lixin was right; he really just came to find something to help fix the electrical system.
But Sam couldn't relax at all.
The boundless darkness and oppressive space constantly tormented his mind.
When he finally arrived in the basement with the last fuse and the last battery, the inexplicable sense of oppression had already reached its peak.
Sam could feel his temples throbbing.
My nerves are completely on edge; the slightest stimulation could send me into a frenzy.
He inserted the final fuse into the mechanism.
With a few crackling sounds of electricity, the overhead lights finally came on.
This caused his entire spirit to be completely released at that moment.
This feeling is as if every pore on your body has opened up.
"Not bad."
A sinister voice suddenly came from beside his ear.
That moment.
Two drops of something were squeezed out.
"Are you alright? Why is your face so pale?"
Lin Lixin grinned and poked Sam in the chest with his fist.
"You—you've been here the whole time?"
"Yes, I've been following you all the way."
My scalp is tingling!
"I learned a couple of moves from Guohao when I was making Street Fighter. How about that? Didn't it make a sound at all?"
People don't feel tired when they're doing bad things.
Sam's eyes rolled back, and his body went limp.
Today, he learned a valuable lesson.
Sometimes, a terrifying and oppressive atmosphere is far more frightening than a direct confrontation.
After helping Carmack carry the unconscious Sam to the bed, Lin Lixin picked up the flashlight and nodded in satisfaction.
Resource management has proven to be a tried-and-tested effective strategy.
In the original Biohazard, this task was actually performed by consumables such as bullets, oil, and herbs.
Each shot a player fires consumes bullets, which can only be obtained by exploring the environment.
Even on normal difficulty, it takes five or six shots to kill a single zombie.
In such an environment, the sense of urgency brought about by encountering zombies would be even greater.
If combined with a strong visual impact----
That's really hard not to scare people.
One week later.
"Ugh!"
Bill Paxton, who had just been introduced to the film crew by Schwarzenegger, pulled Jill out of the room.
According to the script, his character [ Barry ] has a line here, which Lin Lixin highlighted in red. "That was really close. If I had been a second slower, you would have become Jill sandwich."
Really? Thank you.
Kelly rolled over and stood up.
"Click!"
Lin Lixin looked at the image on the camera and gave everyone an OK sign.
This storyboard shot is finally finished.
Due to limitations in hardware, the game's textures cannot be made to be particularly refined.
However, they can use the highest production values to film the transition animations.
The experience gained from the live-action cutscenes already widely used in Command & Conquer can be considered well-deserved.
"Thank you everyone for your hard work. Once we finish filming the last dialogue, this scene will be finished."
Lin Lixin patted the Kojima and asked him to take charge of the remaining shot.
He himself came to the development zone.
"Lin! You've come at the right time. The animation you requested is ready."
Carmack waved excitedly at Lin Lixin.
Beside him lay a skull with half of its skull exposed.
