A Terrible First Meeting
After seeing Brahma off, Bai Mo looked around. The illusion had been easily dispelled by Brahma's mount, Hansa, a method of Asura, which Brahma's mount, Hamsa, would naturally not show any mercy for.
"Alright, that's enough for now. Hopefully, Takshaka wasn't scared away by Brahma."
Bai Mo looked towards the dense forest, and at the same time reached out and gently rubbed Kama's cheek.
"Next time, please tell me beforehand, okay? It's terrifying if the Creator God suddenly appears like a sparrow on the street."
"Oh well, there's no real loss anyway~"
Letting go, Bai Mo led Kama deeper into the Khandava Forest. Along the way, Kama would occasionally probe Bai Mo's thoughts, as if asking someone who had suddenly acquired a fortune how to spend it.
Bai Mo simply shook his head, indicating that he hadn't thought about such a thing.
"Seriously, tell me, this is a great opportunity to get to know each other. We're master and servant now, so you should at least try to understand me better!"
You'll find out later.
Do you think I'm a child?!
And so, the two of them, mouth to mouth, arrived deep into the Khandava Forest, where a towering giant tree had been concealed by Maya's illusion. Now that the illusion had been broken, it was easy to find at a glance.
Seeing the two arrive at the door, Takshaka and Maya trembled with fear. It was terrifying. They had no idea what Bai Mo and Brahma had discussed; Brahma was often unfathomable and impossible to fathom.
Otherwise, Vishnu wouldn't have needed to be so busy; by creating an avatar to keep an eye on Brahma, the troubles in the world could be reduced by at least half.
Therefore, from their perspective, Bai Mo didn't know what he said to the god Kama, then Brahma arrived, and after a while, they seemed to have a smooth conversation before Brahma left.
With Kama by his side, Bai Mo was naturally regarded as an extraordinary Brahmin.
What is this? This must be a blessing that Brahmin received from Brahma that could change the world! Now, seeing Bai Mo walking towards them, he was sure to destroy this spirit of the Khandava Forest. Takshaka only regretted that he hadn't prepared a backup plan. In this situation, at least he could have sent his family away.
"Your Majesty, what should we do? Shall we surrender?" Maya said spinelessly, while Takshaka revealed the ferocity unique to a cornered beast, saying:
"Humans coming here never bring good news. You, an Asura, think you can surrender? You might as well fight to the death!"
Maya looked at Takshaka with a ghostly expression and exclaimed, "Are you crazy? Let alone whether we can win or not, even if you successfully poison him, a Brahmin monk of this level will curse you after death. Wouldn't you be worse off than dead?"
"Don't be afraid!" Takshaka said, flicking his cloak.
"I have a covenant with Indra, the King of Gods, and according to the covenant, he will come to protect us!"
Outside the door, Bai Mo came with the intention of having a good talk with Takshaka. In the original mythology, this guy was considered an unlucky fellow. He did not intend to start a great fire in Khandava Forest and wipe out all life in the entire forest.
"Snake King Takshaka, you should be inside, right? I've come uninvited, but I do have something I'd like to discuss with you," Bai Mo said from outside the forest, while Takshaka began chanting a spell.
Kama, standing outside, frowned and said, "They don't seem very welcoming, and I sense the presence of some bastard..."
Seeing this, Bai Mo knocked on the door and said, "If you don't answer, I'll come in."
However, the incantation of the Takshaka had already begun, and with a surge of energy, a figure appeared in the pool in the room. Bai Mo outside knocked on the door three times before opening it.
The moment the door opened, Maya rushed forward without a second thought, ready to kneel and surrender. He was joking, wasn't he? Takshaka a mere mountain demon like Tashaka might not know Indra's situation, did Maya, this Asura, not know it?
Expecting Indra to attack someone who seems to have just received Brahma's blessing—what kind of outcome is that?
Then, the moment the door opened, the scene was extremely bizarre.
Bai Mo only saw someone kneel down in front of him. It was too sudden, but fortunately, it wasn't the first time he had encountered this situation. He immediately activated a force to help the person up.
Kama frowned and waved her hand, summoning Jingang beside her, intending to throw Maya away. As a celestial being, she had no liking for Asura.
Moreover, in her view, what good could it be for an Asura to pounce on her Master?
Takshaka, however, thought that Kama wanted to stop Indra from appearing, and shouted:
"Don't even think about it!"
The spell had barely ended when another spell was seamlessly cast, the emerald light colliding with the power of Kama, like the starting horn of war. Indra had just emerged when he saw Kama and Bai Mo, followed by Maya, who was being thrown back by the two forces.
At first, he had a somewhat amused expression, as if watching a show. During the great battle between the Asura and the gods, Maya had caused the gods a lot of trouble.
But soon, Takshaka's words made him stop laughing.
"Indra, the King of Gods, you have come as promised. You made a covenant to protect me, and now it is time to fulfill it. Come, raise your weapons and fight alongside me!"
Indra's head stiffened and he turned it away, as if he hadn't heard clearly, and asked Takshaka:
"What are you going to fight? Against them?"
Bai Mo spoke first, saying, "Calm down, I'm not here to start a conflict."
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned. Takshaka never expected that Bai Mo wasn't there to attack them. Generally speaking, humans and these kinds of spirits didn't get along well.
You can't blame him for reacting so strongly. From his perspective, once someone has worked hard and finally reaped the rewards, it's obvious what will happen next: either he'll seek revenge or he'll try to conquer the Tianxia.
And then, this person just walked towards him.
In every sense, this was terrifying; all the Takshaka regarded the Bai Mo as an enemy from the very beginning.
Indra was also somewhat confused, but his mind was clear about one thing, at least in terms of right and wrong, he was still able to maintain his sense of right and wrong.
Then, without hesitation, Indra slapped Tashaka on the forehead with a Takshaka.
"He said he wasn't there to stir up trouble, are you deaf? I'm only here to provide protection, not to pay for your unnecessary trouble-making!"
