A nighttime visit to the church
Upon arriving at the headquarters of the Japan Holy Church, Francesca immediately showed a look of disgust, which was exactly what Bai Mo hoped to see. The Holy Church, as the sovereign authority exercising power on earth (as it claims), should surely be able to deal with this damned witch.
"Why bring a messenger of evil to this place of the gods?"
Upon opening the door, an elderly man stood before them. Though aged, his eyes were piercing and bright. He was tall and imposing, his muscles seemingly bursting out of his priest's robes. He stared intently at Fran, making no attempt to conceal the murderous intent in his eyes.
"That's a strange question. Would you ask the police why they send criminals to the police station?"
Bai Mo walked up to the priest, and Fran behind him casually found a chair and sat down, looking like a man accompanying his girlfriend shopping, his whole body exuding exhaustion.
"Are you not an accomplice of the devil, but a lamb tormented by the devil? Your soul bears a distinct demonic aura. If you wish to seek the Lord's grace, prove yourself." The priest's voice Abhimanyu, like an art student giving a speech in a beer hall.
"Now you know why I hate this place, right? These Church folks are all so boring." Fran waved his hand, as if shooing away annoying flies.
Bai Mo pondered for a moment, then tentatively took out the "Metatron Award." The next moment, the old man was filled with respect, pushed the podium aside, took half a step back, and bowed at a ninety-degree angle.
"My apologies, messenger of Mahadeva Metatron. Thank you for visiting our Church. It is truly a dereliction of duty that we were unable to have everyone of the Church come together to experience God's grace." The priest's attitude changed abruptly, Bai Mo looked at the medal in his hand, which looked like a cheap piece of junk, and his lips twitched.
This absurd thing actually works!
"Hahaha, you change your mind faster than flipping through a book! If I came with that scrap metal, would you kiss my toes? No way, just thinking about it makes me want to throw up." Fran laughed loudly, swinging his legs carelessly, then lost his balance and fell off the chair.
Bai Mo pointed to the creature behind him and said, "I'm being haunted by this thing. It's howling and trying to take my soul to Hell. I don't have any way to deal with souls, so I'm asking you for help with 'exorcism'."
The old man glanced at Fran, who smiled and gave him a friendly gesture. He said in a deep voice, "Understood. I will summon the saints I can to send her soul back to Hell. Please wait a moment."
After saying that, he clenched his fist and prepared to take Fran down, but Fran waved his hand, got up and came to Bai Mo's side.
"Please don't touch me, okay? I don't want to have to scrub off a piece of skin while I'm showering. I won't resist. After this bunch of useless people finish their pointless work, Bai Mo, you should just accept your fate."
Her delicate face almost touched Bai Mo's cheek; with just a slight tilt, her lips would lightly brush against his. But Fran simply gave him a sweet smile; after all, if she were to actually do that, her face would only touch the Orca Tyrant Fist first.
Fran followed the priest to the Church's backyard. Bai Mo closed his eyes to rest, enjoying the long-lost tranquility. After an unknown amount of time, he opened his eyes and suddenly disappeared from the front hall. The next moment, a strong tremor came from the Church's underground.
In an instant, Bai Mo moved several priests and nuns to the front hall. They were all pale, with beads of sweat dripping down their faces, and they were panting heavily. The priest Bai Mo had seen earlier wiped the sweat from his hands and said with shame.
"I'm sorry, I failed. Beelzebub's power is beyond my imagination."
Fran walked out of the backyard like an actor, sat on the lectern in the front hall, crossed his legs, and looked at the crowd with nothing but mockery in his eyes—a mockery of utter contempt.
"Trying to help others but ending up being saved instead—a bunch of pathetic, overconfident wretches. Is this all the sharp blade God has on earth? How disappointing."
The priest stood up, bowed to Bai Mo, and said, "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do about this situation. I will report the information to the higher Church levels as it is. As for this demon, I swear to the Lord, I will seal her away."
"Use the lives of those believers behind you to seal me? Three days or two? Aren't you forbidden from committing suicide?" Francesca's mocking voice rang out, causing the priest to clench his fists.
"It's nothing serious, just a bit annoying. It's not worth risking your life for something like this," Bai Mo comforted him. But the priest seemed to have been stabbed in the leg, and he cried out, "You're not allowed to insult my faith!"
Fran laughed heartily, "See? Bai Mo, these people's brains are all broken. It's alright, I can come find you after I deal with these poor bastards."
A jolt of electricity shot from Bai Mo's feet into the priest's brain, bringing a cool sensation. He calmed down, though his eyes still flickered with resentment and shame. Bai Mo pressed him back into his chair and said, "Calm down. I don't want to see pointless sacrifices."
The priest nodded and said, "I'm very sorry I couldn't be of any help in this matter."
Bai Mo didn't say much about it. As he was about to leave, a girl with white hair and bandages wrapped around her body, dressed in a nun's habit, walked out of the back door.
"Please wait a moment." The priest and the girl called out to Bai Mo in unison. The priest continued, "I cannot handle this woman, but you have had some contact with Beelzebub, and your soul has been tainted by the aura of the devil. Although your soul is very strong and this aura cannot affect you, it would still be better to dispel it."
Bai Mo listened carefully and tried to sense it, but he couldn't feel anything.
"There's no need for that, I can't feel anything at all."
The priest said solemnly, "If this woman's goal is to send you to Hell, she will surely tempt you to commit sins. Although these auras are not a powerful threat, there are always times in life when we are less vigilant. If you don't believe me, you can come and see for yourself."
The girl approached Bai Mo, and after taking a few steps, a scar appeared on her wrist. Bai Mo also used his power to sense that unless someone had controlled these clergy members, they were telling the truth.
"This girl has a masochistic constitution that attracts spirits. Generally speaking, if someone possessed by a demon gets close, she will be injured. The Beelzebub aura on you is far more terrifying than demonic possession."
"No need for explanations. I can sense the honesty in your words. In that case, thank you for your help."
Then, under Fran's strange gaze, Bai Mo was led by the girl into a bedroom. There was no one else in the bedroom except the girl and Bai Mo, and the eerie atmosphere made him feel that something was wrong.
"Wasn't it supposed to be an exorcism? Why didn't the priest come?"
Bai Mo asked, and the girl in front of him looked at Bai Mo incredulously, saying, "I never expected you to have such a fetish; it's truly shocking."
"Wait, what kind of fetish is this?" Bai Mo immediately sensed something was wrong. He saw the girl preparing to take off her nun's habit and immediately stopped her. Then, without thinking too much, he used his Magnetic Field Power to read the girl's mind. After learning what this so-called exorcism ritual was, he immediately stopped reading her mind.
"What the hell are you doing! Do you even deserve to be called clergy?" Even with all his experience, Bai Mo found it hard to believe that this so-called exorcism ritual was actually related to the girl in front of him...
Then, Fran's carefree laughter came from outside the door.
