The alliance's victory
Ye Mo put his glasses in his pocket and tapped the edge of the control panel twice with his fingers. The screen was still replaying the voice message, "Mr. X's sample priority is S," over and over again. He didn't look at it anymore.
Tony stood to the side, his armor gloves off and casually draped over the back of the chair. "Ignore those people," he said. "They don't even know how many people you've saved, yet they dare to ask so many questions."
As soon as she finished speaking, the door to the control room slid open. Emma Frost walked in, holding an encrypted data pad in her hand, her high heels clicking softly on the metal floor. She stopped to Ye Mo's right, as usual, without saying a word.
"S.H.I.E.L.D.. has taken action," she said. "Seven Hydra outposts have been destroyed, but three groups of test subjects have been moved. The last known signal was lost in the South America jungle; the coordinates are incomplete."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "They're not quite dead yet?"
"It wasn't them." Emma Frost shook her head. "Someone else took over their plan. The funding has changed, but the experimental direction remains the same—extracting Mutants abilities, enhancing the human body, and creating controllable soldiers."
The control room was silent for a few seconds.
Ye Mo stared at the heat map on the large screen. The city lights were still bright, and the news broadcast was still playing the press conference content. The trending topics hadn't gone down, but he knew that public opinion couldn't suppress the real threat.
"We can't solve the problem with another press conference," he said.
Tony plopped down on the control panel, crossed his legs, and said, "So what do you suggest we do? Do we just wait until they cause a major incident before rushing in to sabotage them?"
"It's not like I'm asking you to build an Iron Legion," Ye Mo turned to look at him, "But we can have a faster way to react. No need for reporting, no need for approval, as soon as the alarm sounds, everyone who can move immediately goes."
Emma Frost looked at the two of them and suddenly spoke, "We are not affiliated with any organization, nor do we take orders from the government. We only act when a crisis occurs."
Tony laughed. "Sounds like an underground hero black market."
"It's an alliance," Ye Mo corrected, "Not for fame, but to provide a safety net."
Emma Frost nodded. "I'll join."
Tony leaned on the table and stood up, cracking his knuckles. "Alright, since you're all so serious, I can't just talk the talk. Stark Industries ' surveillance network can be given you backdoor access—drone swarms, intelligence systems, emergency evacuation routes, all of it."
"But we have to follow our rules." Ye Mo looked at him. "Who goes in and who goes out will be decided jointly by the three of us. There are no unilateral access rights, no remote eavesdropping, and we share technology but don't monopolize it."
Tony shrugs. "You think you're afraid of me being your boss?"
"It's not that I don't trust you," Ye Mo said, "It's that I don't trust power itself."
Emma Frost stood to the side, then suddenly smiled, "I used to think that power was everything. Later I realized that what's truly useful is knowing who to help."
Tony glanced at her, then at Ye Mo, and finally raised his water glass. "Shall we have a drink? Even without alcohol, the atmosphere is just right."
Ye Mo also picked up his cup and gently touched it to his. Emma Frost paused for a second, then followed suit.
The three cups collided in mid-air with a crisp sound.
No one spoke, no one swore an oath, but the matter was settled.
At that very moment, a notification sounded in my mind:
[Alliance established, Gene Spiral Tower unlocked to level 32]
Ye Mo closed his eyes, his consciousness sinking into the invisible Spiral Tower within his body. The twenty-fifth floor, the twenty-eighth floor, the thirty-first floor... each floor lit up, until the very top, the thirty-second floor, slowly opened.
There were no specific ability names inside, only three intertwined energy chains slowly rotating. One connected to the Mind Stone, one synchronized with the tactical rhythm, and the other resembled some kind of crisis early warning network.
He opened his eyes and whispered, "So it recognized 'us,' not 'me.'"
Tony tilted his head. "Another upgrade? What is it this time? Mind reading plus?"
"I'm not sure yet." Ye Mo rubbed his temples. "But I just felt... a connection. Not from somewhere, but like a signal network suddenly being powered on."
Emma Frost frowned slightly, then relaxed. "I felt it too. Like someone gently tapped my head."
Tony clicked his tongue. "You two are becoming more and more like twins. Can you stop trying to use that Telepathy on me?"
"This isn't a connection," Ye Mo, looking at her. "It's a resonance."
On the large screen, the city map was still running. Suddenly, a monitoring point in the South America region flashed red, then quickly returned to normal. Ye Mo's gaze immediately locked onto that location.
"The signal is off over there," he said.
Emma Frost walked over and pulled up the data stream. "It's not regular interference, it's intermittent pulses, like some kind of device trying to start up, but the power supply is unstable."
Tony leaned over and glanced at it. "Sounds like the gamma stabilizer Dr. Banner used to use."
Ye Mo's eyes narrowed. "Is he in South America?"
"I don't know." Tony quickly typed a few words on the keyboard. "I haven't heard from him recently. The last time we contacted each other was two weeks ago. He said he found an abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D.. site and wanted to try to control the transformation frequency."
"If someone else gets hold of Hydra's technology..." Ye Mo's voice lowered, "They won't let the Hulk get away."
Emma Frost looked at him. "You mean, he's the next target?"
A brief silence fell over the control room.
Tony leaned back in his chair and tapped his helmet projection. "How about we take off now? We can bring some supplies with us."
"No," Ye Mo shook his head. "This is not the time for us to go it alone. If there are any problems, we need to be fully prepared before we proceed."
"So what are you waiting for?" Tony looked at him. "Wait until he transforms into the Hulk and smashes through half the rainforest before you make your move?"
"We're going," Ye Mo, staring at the screen, "But not now. First, confirm his safety, then devise a route and evacuation plan. This operation must be initiated by the alliance, not a personal adventure."
"So you're the captain now?" Tony chuckled.
"I just don't want to see anyone else die because of information asymmetry," Ye Mo said calmly. "Including you."
Emma Frost interjected, "I can try a remote mental link to see if there are any residual fluctuations in consciousness. But if he's already out of control, the risk is too high."
"Then set a limit," Ye Mo said. "A maximum of three minutes. If any high-intensity emotional fluctuations are detected, immediately disconnect."
Tony shrugged. "You guys are all incredibly cautious. But I like it. At least this time no one's going to suddenly pop out of the wall and scare me."
"Have you encountered this before?" Emma Frost asked.
"The last time he peeked through the Wall Phasing at Obadiah's meeting, it almost scared my heart out," Tony said, pointing at Ye Mo. "Ever since then, I've felt that this guy is even more cunning Loki."
Ye Mo grinned. "The system notification told me to do it."
"The system again?" Tony rolled his eyes. "You always blame something that doesn't exist."
"But it does exist," Emma Frost suddenly said.
The two men looked at her.
She looked at Ye Mo: "I can sense its frequency. Unlike other Mutants, it's more like... a rule itself."
Ye Mo didn't respond, but instead looked down at his hand. A very thin blue light flashed across his palm, disappearing in an instant.
The large screen suddenly flickered again, and three red warning boxes appeared consecutively from the South America monitoring station. The signal strength increased, the gamma reading was abnormal, and the ambient temperature rose sharply.
"This is bad." Tony straightened up. "This data trend is exactly the same as when the Hulk went out of control before the Battle of New York."
Ye Mo immediately pulled up the flight path map. "Activate the emergency protocol and prepare for remote support. Notify JARVIS to synchronize satellite images; I need real-time visibility."
"Are you going?" Emma Frost asked.
"We have to go," he said. "He's the first science Mutants we might come into contact with. If something happens to him, it won't just be one person's problem."
Tony, already donning his armor components, said, "I'll go too. After all, I owe him a bottle of wine, and I haven't paid him back yet."
Emma Frost stood there, her fingers gently tracing the data screen. "I can't go to the scene, but I can open a mental channel for you. If there's any danger, I'll bring you back immediately."
Ye Mo nodded. "Alright. The alliance's first operation cannot fail."
Tony chuckled as he fastened his breastplate, "Hey, they're already on a mission so soon after they've just formed? That's incredibly efficient."
"We're the only ones who can cover for us." Ye Mo put on his gloves and walked towards the exit.
The three stood side by side in front of the control room door, the red dot on the screen still flashing.
Looking out at the night view, Tony suddenly said, "Now we're even more invincible."
Ye Mo stood still and replied softly, "Yes, for a safer world."
His hand landed on the access control panel, his fingerprint was verified, and the metal door slowly opened.
Outside is a corridor leading to the tarmac, with lights extending all the way out.
As Ye Mo took his first step, a bright light suddenly burst from the large screen behind him, instantly turning the South America signal point into a sea of red.
