Background / History

Family and Upbringing

Bingtang grew up as the heiress of the Ice-Colored Era Group. Her father treated her as both a successor to train and a business opponent to cultivate. Their relationship was competitive rather than conventionally affectionate: the winner dictated terms, and the loser submitted 47 199 200.

Her family assigned her practical business responsibilities while she was still in middle school and sometimes discouraged school attendance because it offered little practical benefit to her. Bingtang disliked inheriting the company and initially treated school as a refuge from those expectations. Her mother later died of illness; Bingtang recalls being driven out by her father into the rain on the day she met Jiang Si 47 427.

Meeting Jiang Si and Establishing Azure Cloud

Jiang Si rescued Bingtang from a Calamity Beast three years before the main story. He intended to erase her memories to protect his identity, but she naturally awakened as a blue magical girl before he could do so. The two stood facing each other in the rain, and he gave her an umbrella that she kept afterward 5 427.

Building the Azure Cloud Sect gave Bingtang a purpose she had lacked. Although the original idea came from Jiang Si, she made establishing and running it her own project, voluntarily studying business operations and adapting her family’s organizational structures. During those three years, she also handled most Calamity Beasts to help conceal Jiang Si’s identity 6 47.

She insisted on attending Fourth Middle School and sitting beside Jiang Si rather than enrolling at the prestigious Perching Cloud Academy favored by her family 18.

Taking Control of Ice-Colored Era

Bingtang began preparing to defeat her father commercially when he challenged her to become his business competitor at thirteen. By the confrontation in his office, she had arranged transfers involving most of the group’s businesses, equity holdings, and outside partnerships. She rejected conditional inheritance and presented documents that would allow her father to retire 200.

Her father later tried to exploit her affection for Jiang Si by asking him to steal back the company seal. By the later story, Bingtang held the reins of both the Ice-Colored Era Group and the Azure Cloud Sect 399 416.

Appearance

• Magical-girl form: A blue or ice-blue magical girl known as Winter Lord 5 6 391.

Personality

Bingtang presents herself as composed, gentle, and mature, but her friendliness does not imply easy intimacy. Outside the Azure Cloud Sect, she has almost no interpersonal relationships. Within it, she is an exacting administrator who disciplines wasteful spending, disruptive behavior, and failures to follow combat rules 27 63 181 242.

Her authority is strongly maternal. She wants the sect’s disciples to survive, protects Shuangsheng from excessive pressure during dangerous undercover work, and mediates between Jiang Si and disciples he struggles to understand. Privately, she prefers being called “big sister” rather than “Lady,” and worries that others might see her maturity as an act rather than recognize her own qualifications 250 264 420 427.

Her devotion to Jiang Si generally does not take the form of monopolizing him. She encourages Yumo’s affection and actively helps the disciples grow closer to their sect master. Nevertheless, she wants to be Jiang Si’s first in shared experiences, and Lu Ya’s connection to his previous life unsettles her more than ordinary romantic competition 339 353 358 416.

Despite her wealth and institutional power, Bingtang feels she possesses very little that is secure. That private sense of insufficiency drives her work, cultivation, and efforts to keep Azure Cloud advancing alongside Jiang Si. When genuinely exhausted, she seeks brief comfort from him rather than maintaining her usual self-sufficient appearance 357 416.

Bingtang’s spreading ice Mental Image freezes its surroundings, but also freezes Bingtang herself at its center. Its power fundamentally changes her standing against opponents such as Bai Mei 353 427.

• During its first combat deployment, her body becomes an ice-crystal statue and her signs of life fade as the Domain expands 353.
• Its expansion has no stated boundary, but initially spreads too slowly to cover the world before she loses consciousness 353.
• An Shiyu compensates through spatial resonance, repeatedly folding and extending its boundary until the Domain encompasses the world 353.
• Its later-described expansion speed and range far exceed ordinary Mental Images; instantaneous coverage of half a universe is not its limit 427.
• Its severe drawback leaves few safe opportunities to use it. In her final deployment, Bingtang arrests herself in an eternal moment while freezing the collapsing New World 427.

Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation

Bingtang commands Azure Cloud’s closely guarded defensive formation from the center of Beihai 296.

• Makes each participating disciple a point in a vast formation spanning East China, South China, North China, and part of West China 296.
• Combines hundreds of millions of frost swords carrying different magical attributes into a single enormous seven-colored blade 296.
• Suffers backlash from the Jade Dynasty Sword’s baleful aura. After activating the Heavenly Secret Seal, the backlash becomes severe enough that even Lush Leaves would not withstand it 297.

Buddha’s Fury Flame Lotus

Bingtang has used a three-colored Buddha’s Fury Flame Lotus 254.

• Its strike against Iris overflowed into and shattered Iris’s Domain, leaving her incapacitated for an extended period 254.

Bingtang possesses the sect’s broadest collection of developed abilities, with nearly half of her unusual applications originating from Jiang Si’s suggestions. Her strength lies more in development and versatility than in leading the sect in mana control or reserves 27 56.
