Ch. 1Mercenary in Viridian Forest

Tetsuya Tamaki and his Pidgeotto fought off the last three Beedrill pursuing them in Viridian Forest so he could collect their tail stingers. After treating Pidgeotto’s wounds, Tetsuya set out for Viridian City and the Pokémon Center.

  • Tetsuya fled through Viridian Forest with a Beedrill swarm in pursuit, while Pidgeotto helped him shake off most of them.
  • Tetsuya ordered Pidgeotto to use Whirlwind and then Gust, blowing the remaining three Beedrill into tree trunks.
  • Tetsuya sent Pidgeotto after the two Beedrill that could still fight, and Quick Attack knocked them out.
  • Tetsuya collected the Beedrill’s tail stingers, treated Pidgeotto’s injuries, and recalled it to its Poke Ball.
  • Tetsuya headed toward Viridian City to get Pidgeotto treated at the Pokémon Center.

Ch. 2Magical World and Outsider

Tetsuya returned to Viridian City, collected his recovered Pidgeotto, and reflected on his life as an orphan and outsider in the Pokémon world. He sold his forest haul at the Bounty Hunter Center and submitted Star Grass for a mission.

  • Tetsuya collected Pidgeotto's Poké Ball from Joy at the Pokémon Center.
  • Tetsuya recalled how the League had educated him and how he had used his knowledge of Pokémonology, Pharmacology, and Berryology to survive.
  • Tetsuya sold Beedrill stingers, Ekans shed skin, and Beedrill honey for 462,000 Alliance Coins.
  • Tetsuya used the Mission Hall machine to submit Star Grass for mission number 573677400.

Ch. 3Cheat/System and Reality

After completing a mission, Tetsuya returned to his villa and used Zero to check Pidgeotto’s progress and training needs. He reflected on how the system could help him raise Pokémon, but recognized that money and access to rare Pokémon limited his ambitions.

  • Tetsuya collected his 50,000 Alliance Coins for completing a C-rank mission and returned to his suburban villa with supplies.
  • Tetsuya fed Pidgeotto and checked its panel, learning that it had reached level 33 and had Champion potential.
  • Tetsuya reviewed Zero’s origins and how its Pokémon data and training plans depended on his knowledge and careful care of his Pokémon.
  • Tetsuya recalled that elite Pokémon were expensive and restricted, leaving Pseudo-Legendaries and League starter Pokémon beyond his reach.

Ch. 4Memories

Tetsuya recalled how he had struggled to become a Trainer after losing his first Pokémon, Rattata, and how he later found a Pidgey Egg in the Black Market. Zero revealed that the egg had Champion potential, leaving Tetsuya with a rare chance to raise an exceptionally powerful Pokémon.

  • Tetsuya remembered that his first Pokémon had been an ordinary Rattata he found in Viridian Forest, and that he had raised it while working as a Bounty Hunter.
  • Tetsuya recalled how a flock of Spearow killed his level 18 Rattata, devastating him and driving him to seek another Pokémon in the Black Market.
  • Tetsuya visited a Black Market stall and bought a Pidgey Egg for 250,000 Alliance Coins after carefully examining the available eggs.
  • Back in his rented room, Tetsuya asked Zero to assess the egg and discovered that it had Champion potential.

Ch. 5An Outstanding Pidgey and an Evolution Stone

Tetsuya looked back on raising Pidgey into Pidgeotto and cautiously building a bounty-hunting career, then examined a high-quality Fire Stone found in a Beedrill nest. He was left weighing whether to keep the stone or sell it to fund a promising Torchic or Charmander Egg.

  • Tetsuya bought and raised Pidgey, whose exceptional physique, inherited Twister, and Big Pecks confirmed its remarkable potential.
  • Tetsuya trained Pidgey safely, then took E-rank missions after it reached level 15 and moved on to D-rank missions after it evolved into Pidgeotto.
  • Pidgeotto reached level 25 and began making faster progress as Tetsuya invested more heavily in its training.
  • Tetsuya earned 512,000 Alliance Coins from his latest adventure and found an 89-quality Fire Stone in a Beedrill nest.
  • Tetsuya considered keeping the Fire Stone, selling it to buy a Torchic or Charmander Egg, or using it for a Growlithe, but could not decide.

Ch. 6Choices and Pokemon Items

Tetsuya set aside the Fire Stone and focused on strengthening Pidgeotto before deciding how to build his future team. While browsing the Trainer Forum, he found a rare, weak Sharp Beak for sale and made an offer, but the seller rejected him rudely.

  • Tetsuya stored the Fire Stone safely and decided to prioritize Pidgeotto's training until it evolved into Pidgeot.
  • Tetsuya browsed the Trainer Forum and found a newly listed Sharp Beak that boosted Flying-type moves by only 6%.
  • Tetsuya reviewed research explaining why Normal Items with boosts of 10% or more performed far better in battle than Defective Items below 10%.
  • Tetsuya offered the seller 2 million for the Sharp Beak, but the seller replied, "Get lost~".

Ch. 7I Am the Clown and Training Pidgeotto (3k!)

Tetsuya missed out on a rare Defective Item after two Collectors drove its price up to 28 million Alliance Coins, then focused his savings on Pidgeotto’s training. After two weeks of intensive daily training, Pidgeotto reached level 36, while Tetsuya’s funds dwindled.

  • Tetsuya learned that two Collectors had outbid him for the Defective Item, paying 28 million Alliance Coins.
  • Tetsuya browsed the forum, watched videos of skilled Trainers, and spent the night studying.
  • Tetsuya began the day with physical exercise, then took Pidgeotto through weighted flying, agility practice, and recovery.
  • Tetsuya fed Pidgeotto according to Zero’s plan, continued battle training in the afternoon, and bought supplies in the evening.
  • Two weeks passed, Pidgeotto reached level 36, and Tetsuya worried about his rapidly shrinking wallet.

Ch. 8Cleanup Mission and an Unexpected Twist

After spending heavily to train Pidgeotto, Tetsuya accepted a Viridian Forest mission to clear a Caterpie colony and discovered that one of its Butterfree had unexpectedly reached Elite Level. He ambushed and captured two weaker Butterfree, then waited near the nest for a chance to face the remaining pair.

  • Tetsuya noticed Pidgeotto’s progress toward evolution had stalled and decided to keep training while waiting for it to evolve naturally.
  • Tetsuya accepted a mission to clear a Caterpie colony near the main road in Viridian Forest.
  • Tetsuya used Zero to inspect the colony and discovered that one Butterfree had just reached Elite Level.
  • Tetsuya followed two Peak Ordinary Butterfree away from the others, and Pidgeotto defeated and captured them using Quick Attack, Wing Attack, Agility, and Tackle.
  • Tetsuya fed Pidgeotto an Oran Berry and returned to the nest, where he waited for the Elite Level Butterfree and the last Peak Ordinary Butterfree to come back.

Ch. 9Evolve, Pidgeot!

Tetsuya and Pidgeotto defeated and captured the Butterfree that knew Confusion, completing the mission in Viridian Forest. As they prepared to leave, Pidgeotto evolved into Pidgeot, whose panel showed it had reached Elite Level with Champion potential.

  • Tetsuya had Pidgeotto use Twister to ambush two returning Butterfree, knocking one out and badly injuring the other.
  • Pidgeotto dodged the Elite Butterfree's Poison Powder, broke free from Confusion, and defeated it with Wing Attack; Tetsuya captured it and the other Butterfree.
  • Pidgeotto ate Caterpie while Tetsuya caught an ordinary Butterfree to replace the captured one for the mission.
  • As Tetsuya prepared to head home, Pidgeotto evolved into Pidgeot.
  • Tetsuya checked Zero's Panel and saw that Pidgeot was Level 38, Elite Level, and had Champion potential.

Ch. 10Powerful Pidgeot and Dilemma

After Pidgeot evolved, Tetsuya had it examined and sold an Elite Level Butterfree for a large profit. With his savings growing, he began considering which Pokemon to raise next.

  • Pidgeot gained two levels, grew significantly, and learned Roost, Air Slash, Double Team, and U-turn.
  • Joy confirmed Pidgeot was healthy and recorded Tetsuya as a Trainer with promising potential.
  • Tetsuya sold the Butterfree that knew Confusion at the Black Market for 2.2 million Alliance Coins.
  • Tetsuya received 70,000 Alliance Coins for completing the cleanup mission and calculated that he had a little over 4 million in savings.
  • After dinner, Tetsuya began thinking about which Pokemon to choose as his second partner.

Ch. 11Planning and Selling the Fire Stone

Tetsuya planned a balanced team and narrowed his choices for his second Pokemon to Electivire or Blaziken. The next morning, he listed his Fire Stone for sale at the Trade Center and waited for offers.

  • Tetsuya decided he needed a close-combat Pokemon to complement Pidgeot and weighed possible choices, ultimately settling on Electivire or Blaziken.
  • Tetsuya noted the cost and evolution requirements of Elekid and Torchic, then went to bed before his planned day of exercise and errands.
  • After his morning workout, Tetsuya went to the Trade Center and had his Fire Stone appraised.
  • Tetsuya posted an offer to sell his quality 89 Fire Stone for cash or cash plus Electric- or Fire-type materials, then waited for offers.

Ch. 12High Price and Heading to the Black Market Store (In Commemoration of the First Bonus Chapter for a Donation)

Tetsuya sold a high-quality Fire Stone for 45 million Alliance Coins and headed to the Black Market Store to search for a high-potential Pokemon. He passed the Store’s asset check and entered with his anonymous Savings Card.

  • Tetsuya rejected low offers for the Fire Stone, set a 28 million minimum price, and chose a 45 million cash bid over offers that included Energy Fruits.
  • Tetsuya completed the sale and received 44.55 million Alliance Coins after the guarantee fee was deducted.
  • Tetsuya changed into his black robe and searched the Black Market Stall Area, but found only eight Torchic and Elekid with ordinary or Elite Level potential.
  • Tetsuya went to the Black Market Store gate and handed a staff member his Savings Card, which held enough money to meet the 5 million Alliance Coin entry requirement.

Ch. 13Takeoff! (3k!)

Tetsuya visited the Black Market to buy an Elekid egg and a Torchic egg, using Zero to identify their potential. He discovered that the Torchic egg he selected had Champion-level potential and began revising its training plan.

  • Tetsuya used Zero to find an Elekid egg with Elite Four-level potential and reserved it.
  • Tetsuya scanned the Torchic eggs and chose the eleventh egg after Zero revealed its Champion-level potential.
  • Tetsuya paid for both eggs, hid his identity on the way home, and confirmed the Torchic egg's potential with Zero.
  • Tetsuya celebrated wildly, then groomed Pidgeot and prepared its lunch.
  • Tetsuya revised Torchic's juvenile training plan and reviewed it while preparing his own lunch.

Ch. 14Money Flows Like Water and Thoughts About the Future

Tetsuya spent more than 13 million Alliance Coins on upgrades and supplies for Torchic and Pidgeot, then considered how his accelerated progress could attract dangerous attention. He decided to develop Torchic carefully until he had enough strength or protection to take greater risks.

  • Tetsuya shopped at the League Mall and Trade Center, buying upgraded equipment, Luxury Balls, training supplies, Nutrient Potions, vitamins, and food for Torchic and Pidgeot.
  • Tetsuya calculated that he had spent more than 13 million Alliance Coins, leaving him with around 6 million.
  • Tetsuya reflected that his investments could help Torchic reach Elite Level quickly and might let him achieve his ambitions years ahead of schedule.
  • Tetsuya considered the danger of revealing extraordinary talent without a powerful, protective backer, especially because Team Rocket operated near Viridian City.
  • Tetsuya resolved to conceal Torchic's rapid growth and play things safely until he could protect himself or escape danger.

Ch. 15Torchic's Birth and the Status Panel of a High-Potential Pokemon

Tetsuya welcomed his newborn Torchic and discovered through Zero’s status panel that it had Champion Potential, exceptional talents, and powerful inherited moves. He began planning Torchic’s training, then realized its development would cost far more than expected.

  • Tetsuya brought the Torchic Egg to his room and waited while it incubated.
  • Two days later, Torchic hatched, and Tetsuya cradled it before putting the sleepy newborn in its prepared bed.
  • Tetsuya asked Zero to analyze Torchic and learned it had Champion Potential, Speed Boost, exceptional Fire and Fighting Talent, and the inherited moves Double-Edge, Overheat, and Agility.
  • Tetsuya marveled at Torchic’s potential and imagined its future as a Blaziken, confident in his ability to train it.
  • Tetsuya noticed that Torchic’s recommended berry mix raised the training cost and calculated that reaching Elite Level could require nearly four million more than planned.

Ch. 16Bankrupt?? And Twenty Days Later

Tetsuya realized Torchic’s Champion Potential would make its training far more expensive than he had planned, but committed to raising it properly. Twenty days later, Torchic had finished its Young Stage, and Tetsuya prepared to begin its training.

  • Tetsuya recalculated Torchic’s training costs and realized its demanding diet and materials could leave him nearly bankrupt before it reached the Elite Level.
  • Tetsuya fed Torchic its specially prepared meal, then offered it a Luxury Ball, which Torchic accepted and happily entered.
  • Tetsuya stored Torchic’s bed using Silph Co. technology and resumed Pidgeot’s training while Torchic rested.
  • Twenty days later, Tetsuya saw that Torchic had grown to 0.6 meters and 4.5 kilograms and had naturally learned Ember and Quick Attack.
  • Tetsuya brought Torchic to the redesigned back garden and announced that its training was beginning.

Ch. 17Formal Training and the Beginning of Torchic's Nightmare

Tetsuya began Torchic’s formal training with a ten-kilometer run in a specially adjusted Weighted Vest, pushing the overconfident Pokémon to its limits. Torchic completed the run exhausted, then recovered with Oran Berry juice and Tetsuya’s massage.

  • Tetsuya told Torchic its first training exercise was a ten-kilometer run, and Torchic eagerly agreed.
  • Tetsuya fitted Torchic with a Weighted Vest calibrated using Zero’s data, then sent it running with Pidgeot keeping watch.
  • Torchic struggled under the vest’s weight, but Tetsuya encouraged it to manage its breathing and keep running.
  • Torchic finished the run and collapsed from exhaustion, while Tetsuya removed the vest and gave it Oran Berry juice.
  • Tetsuya massaged Torchic using Zero’s recovery method, and Torchic relaxed as its sore legs recovered.

Ch. 18Torchic: Where Is This, Hell?

Tetsuya put Torchic through its first obstacle-course training session, using commands and projectile launchers to test its speed and reactions. Torchic improved during the runs, but Tetsuya raised the difficulty and kept the training going.

  • Tetsuya showed Torchic the obstacle course and explained that it had to sprint along the green-marked route while following his commands.
  • Torchic crashed into stakes after Tetsuya ordered it to use Agility and Quick Attack, but it kept getting up and running.
  • Torchic completed its first route in eight minutes, beating Zero's predicted time, and Tetsuya praised it.
  • Tetsuya moved Torchic onto the harder route and activated the launchers, making the next rounds much more difficult.

Ch. 19Training and Gains

Tetsuya’s grueling training helped Torchic progress far beyond his projections, and over the next two months Torchic evolved into Combusken. The chapter left Combusken completing its high-difficulty obstacle course and beginning a new stage of training.

  • After a day of training, Tetsuya estimated that his supplies would last a little over two months and noted Torchic’s progress exceeded his projections.
  • Over the following two months, Torchic evolved into Combusken as its abilities improved and its personality grew more composed.
  • Combusken completed the high-difficulty Wooden Stake Array under interference from ten launchers in under three minutes, meeting Tetsuya’s goal for the stage.
  • Tetsuya put a Weighted Vest on Combusken, which began kicking exercises at six kicks per second.
  • Tetsuya used Zero to open Combusken’s panel and saw its Champion Potential, level 26, Speed Boost hidden ability, and extensive move set.

Ch. 20Revised Plans and Preparations Before Departure

Tetsuya revised his plans after Combusken's rapid growth and prepared to leave Viridian City to begin traveling. After selling his villa and extra supplies, he applied at the Pokemon Center for travel documentation.

  • Tetsuya assessed Combusken's strength at level 26 and Pidgeot's progress at level 43, then revised his plans because Combusken had advanced faster than expected.
  • Tetsuya decided to leave Viridian City early to seek better-paying missions and earn money while traveling.
  • Tetsuya sold extra items and materials for 150,000 Alliance Coins and sold his villa for 900,000 Alliance Coins.
  • Tetsuya packed his equipment and supplies into his Spatial Backpack, recalled Combusken and Pidgeot, and went to the Pokemon Center counter.
  • Tetsuya asked Miss Joy to help him apply for travel documentation.
