Identity

  • The original King of Qin: He is the warlord whose former forces became the foundation of Great Jin. Chen Qing later receives the same princely title, but the two remain separate, competing figures 22 467 925.
  • Publicly human, later exposed as a demon: Wang Ye recounts that he was born from an aristocratic bloodline and a top-tier greater demon, then publicly declared human by his family. His exposure as a demon became the immediate trigger for his downfall 22 119.
  • Purported player: He initially presents himself as a late-arriving player who endured repeated reincarnations alongside A Li and Ziyue. He claims to have died roughly eight times soon after arriving 438 439.
  • Pu Yunchuan: He poses under this identity, even allowing Ziyue to address him as Yunchuan. Guild marks and Wang Shiyu’s examination of Chen Qing’s spirit body produce the apparent contradiction of two living Pu Yunchuans 511 581.
  • Number One: Federation personnel treat him as this operative, and he admits the identification to Ziyue. A later account explicitly says that he had been mistaken for Number One 548 581 1036.
  • Qigu: His Ancient Demon aura finally exposes him to Ziyue. He explains that he survived Fusion, was cast into the demonic Void Realm, and returned with help from the pale-faced monster 920.

History

Rise in the Central Plains

The King of Qin allied with the great clans and came close to unifying the realm. His stated goal was to create a prosperous human society, halt warfare, and give humanity time to grow without interference from the ancients. He sealed ancient powers and invested heavily in an illusion capable of altering the Central Plains’ memories 22 439.

His prohibition against pursuing ancient inheritances applied even to loyal followers. The eldest princess remembered this uncompromising policy well enough to initially reject the theory that Chen Qing was his reincarnation: Chen Qing’s willingness to share the Dragon Palace’s opportunities appeared fundamentally different 254.

He also helped individual followers rise. He arranged Lu Ming’s marriage to a demon woman who became crucial to the Lu Household’s growth, recognized Tian Heng’s worth, and provided opportunities to the future emperor and his sister when their standing within the Xiao Household restricted them 263 889 1038.

Betrayal and Apparent Death

Once his demonic identity was exposed, aristocratic clans rebelled and outside enemies counterattacked. His faction collapsed in less than half a year. The future emperor, Mr. Five Poisons, and Liu Yu participated in the trap against him; Mr. Five Poisons’ ambush left him gravely wounded before the emperor used the Golden Crow Flame’s true power against him 22 855 889.

The King of Qin blamed both the clans’ pursuit of immortality and the hostility of people he had protected. He recalled guards, craftsmen, and commoners turning against him after the clans publicized his bloodline 439. The emperor instead maintained that their rupture concerned trust and humanity’s future: he opposed a system that permitted demons to consume people, and resented the King of Qin’s concealment of his identity and alteration of memories 892.

After his apparent death, the Xiao and Lu households absorbed most of his former forces. Lu Ming abandoned his own bid for supremacy and helped bring followers beneath the Xiao banner. Together, the two households gathered eighty percent of the old forces and established Great Jin after ten years of campaigning 22.

Survival Within Chen Qing

According to the King of Qin’s explanation, he should have remained sealed on the Yin-Yang Road, unable to reincarnate. Chen Qing’s arrival opened an escape route, but left him without a physical body. He therefore inhabited Chen Qing and avoided openly manifesting his spirit for fear of being located by enemies in the Ghost Domain 440.

He watched Chen Qing grow from childhood through his studies and transformation of Jiangnan. His later account identifies Chen Qing’s emotional collapse after his eldest brother’s death as an occasion when he briefly seized control 442 588.

Dragon Palace Split and East Sea Rule

When he finally revealed himself, the King of Qin explained the world’s connection to the game and the players controlling ancient beings. He proposed continuing Chen Qing’s expansion while directing most divine positions toward powerful Dragon Palace demons 438 441.

Cooperation quickly gave way to attempted control. He froze Chen Qing in mystic ice despite Chen Qing possessing Ao Zhen’s attributes and strength. Ziyue broke the ice and enabled Chen Qing’s escape. The King of Qin then halted the Four Seas Revival Grand Formation, took Painted Skin Mister with him, and occupied the resource-rich East Sea 442 445.

His new territory did not immediately match Jiangnan’s strength. Its foundation remained unstable, resources were short, and favorable geography and outside alliances helped deter an imperial attack 588.

Data City Operation

The King of Qin opposed the authorities’ plan to recruit Chen Qing and remove his Disintegration Program in Data City. He distrusted Chen Qing and demanded to know how operatives’ safety could be guaranteed when the authorities controlled their own Disintegration Programs 548.

He later seized another opportunity to control Chen Qing after data restructuring. He claimed that his earlier separation had also served to lower the ancient players’ guard, allowing Chen Qing’s power base to grow without provoking a united response 588.

His objective in Data City was to eliminate the command console capable of shutting down the region. He entered the command center with Hou Nanfeng and Chen Qing, killed its personnel, and turned ten officials into skin-painted puppets to authorize an emergency shutdown. The intelligence’s warning that this would be the facility’s first large-scale shutdown made him pause 595 600.

Chen Qing’s counterplan involved cooperation with Federation higher-ups, using the command center and an entire region as bait. Despite apparently being dealt with, the King of Qin survived through a previously prepared escape measure 889 891.

Blood Ancestor Scheme

The King of Qin offered the emperor a temporary alliance against their larger enemies, the Four Great Guilds. Their negotiations exposed unresolved disputes over the old coexistence plan, memory manipulation, and mutual distrust 892.

During their later confrontation, his swift sword strike failed to penetrate the emperor’s defenses. He appeared unwilling to risk another attack and allowed the emperor to escape 902. Subsequent events revealed that he had deliberately cultivated the impression that he was no longer a threat. By liquefying the World in the Painting and anticipating Chen Qing’s arrival, he created the distraction needed to ambush the captain of the guard 919.

He then revealed himself as Qigu. Although his bargain with the pale-faced monster concerned the Blood Ancestor body, he demanded Chen Qing’s body for himself. He subsequently absorbed the Blood Ancestor’s power and sought to use its contracts to rapidly create an army 920 924.

After confronting Chen Qing, he chose not to settle their rivalry immediately. Blood essence, promising recruits, and reports of white crystals in Elder Zhang’s sealed grounds offered him another foundation for a future contest 930.

Later Alliances and the Buddha Kingdom

In the East Sea, he earned strong local support by protecting fishermen from sea monsters and extreme weather. Within four or five years, the region had fallen almost completely under his control. Nevertheless, his demon soldiers still craved human flesh; unlike Chen Qing, he could not remove that nature through the Divine Path Style 1034.

He later approached the Hong Household Head and the eldest princess about cooperating against the Buddha Kingdom, presenting the Daoist School as his contribution. By then, he acknowledged that his original coexistence policy could have produced systematic demonic exploitation of humans 1041.

His interception of Shen Er initially appeared to be another attempt to seize Jiangnan while Chen Qing was absent. The later confrontation with Bitter-Faced Buddha revealed that the apparent takeover had concealed a jointly rehearsed ambush involving the Shen Family. When the Buddha retaliated, the King of Qin forced himself to King Level and unleashed sword intent powerful enough to alarm the ancient opponent 1075 1091.

Personality

The King of Qin’s early idealism inspired exceptional loyalty. Liu Yu remembered a man genuinely determined to change the world, while Ziyue acknowledged that he had rescued their group from repeated lives dominated by demonic instincts and given them hope. Even followers who considered his plans unrealistic had wanted to follow that idealistic young man 41 527 581.

Betrayal made him more cynical about cooperation. He argued that the people of the world were unworthy of his former approach, yet continued to insist that making the world “reasonable” remained his goal 439 581. His later dealings with former enemies show a pragmatic willingness to separate personal resentment from immediate interests 892 1041.

His calculating nature also has limits. He recognizes that the eldest princess possesses a willingness to act that he himself lacks, despite considering his own planning equal to anyone’s 1049. The emperor views his apparent warmth as concealing a fundamentally cold willingness to discard people; the King of Qin disputes this by pointing to the kindness he showed the Xiao siblings 894.

Abilities & Skills

Swordsmanship

  • Draws and strikes so quickly that the emperor cannot visually follow the movement or answer with his own sword 902.
  • Forces Bitter-Faced Buddha to recognize his sword intent as approaching the level of a saint 1091.
  • Limit: Speed does not guarantee penetration. The emperor traps his blade with concentrated muscular power and melts it with heat 902.

Mystic Ice

  • Immobilizes Chen Qing even while he possesses Ao Zhen’s attributes and strength 442.
  • Halts the Four Seas Revival Grand Formation 445.
  • Uses an ice-needle-like attack along the captain’s spine to suppress the source of his martial qi and blood, leaving him unable to stand unaided 919.

Possession and Soul Survival

  • Survives without a physical body by inhabiting Chen Qing after escaping the Yin-Yang Road 440.
  • Retains arrangements that permit renewed attempts to seize Chen Qing under special circumstances 588.
  • Limit: Cannot take control whenever he wishes; emotional collapse and data restructuring provide documented openings 588.

Illusions, Memory Alteration, and the World in the Painting

  • Devises a large-scale illusion intended to alter Central Plains memories and end warfare 439.
  • His Heavenly Moon Plan erases memories connected to A Li, the Heavenly Mirror, and an earlier encounter with the demon statue 847.
  • Liquefies the World in the Painting to facilitate Chen Qing’s escape and set up his ambush of the captain 919.
  • Limit: Heavy expenditure leaves him barely able to use Bai Hua’s ability before the battle with Bitter-Faced Buddha 1091.

Puppet Creation

  • Uses skin-painting techniques and fine threads to manipulate dead officials, bypassing the command center’s voting safeguards 600.
  • Seeks the Blood Ancestor’s contract powers as a way to create a large puppet army without rebuilding his forces conventionally 924.

Inherited Divine Authority

  • Gains some of a god lord’s abilities while residing within Chen Qing during the establishment of the Divine Path Style 1075.
  • Can locate Principal Gods, allowing him to intercept Shen Er outside Nanming Prefecture 1075.
  • Limit: Cannot reproduce Chen Qing’s ability to remove demons’ appetite for humans through the Divine Path Style 1034.

Strategy and Command

  • Uses layered contingencies, concealed objectives, and staged weaknesses to survive defeats and redirect opponents 891 919.
  • Retains a military legacy strong enough that at least seventy percent of the Flying Dragon Army’s colonels and junior officers were once his direct subordinates 1036.
  • Identifies the risks of A Li altering his complicated memories; during their confrontation, he closes his eyes and tracks targets by sound to deny her an opening 1087 1090.
  • Limit: Former soldiers’ loyalty does not override every constraint. He recognizes that evil spirits within them and the Xiao Household’s control of their families prevent a simple return to his banner 1041.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • East Sea Dragon King’s painted bones — Used to establish his occupation of the East Sea after the Dragon Palace split 445.
  • North Sea cold-iron sword — A treasured weapon recovered from the East Sea depths and said to have been favored by the East Sea’s Third Prince; melted during his attack on the emperor 902.
  • Faith-infused spear — Used against Bitter-Faced Buddha; rapidly destroyed by time corrosion within Gara Absolute Domain 1091.
  • Shortsword — Drawn after the spear’s destruction to unleash the sword intent that threatens Bitter-Faced Buddha 1091.

  • Chen Qing — Former host, proposed partner, possession target, and principal rival. He admires Jiangnan’s achievements but repeatedly attempts to appropriate Chen Qing’s body or foundation 442 588 925 1075.
  • Ziyue — Former follower who credits him with saving their group. She frees Chen Qing from his mystic ice, questions his assumed identity, and eventually recognizes him as Qigu 445 581 920.
  • A Li — Former companion associated with his purported player history; later an opponent whose memory-altering talents he carefully guards against 109 438 1087 1090.
  • The emperor — Former beneficiary and supporter who helped overthrow him. Both retain grievances, but cooperate when larger threats demand it 367 889 892.
  • The eldest princess — Former associate and later negotiating partner. She remembers his suppression of ancient inheritances and considers cooperation against the Buddha Kingdom 254 1041.
  • Lu Ming, Duke of Qin — Former subordinate whose marriage he arranged. Lu Ming opposed restrictions on ancient inheritance research, withheld rescue, and later helped consolidate the King of Qin’s former forces under the Xiao Household 22 157 263.
  • Liu Yu — Participated in the trap against him, yet later praised his ideals and warned Chen Qing to learn from his inability to overcome human treachery 41 889.
  • Mr. Five Poisons — Defected at the decisive moment and ambushed him, leaving him vulnerable to the emperor’s attack 855 889.
  • Tian Heng — A commander whose worth he recognized and who continued to feel indebted to him long afterward 1038.
  • Shen Er — Respects his former ambitions but refuses to abandon Chen Qing. Their apparent confrontation later proves connected to the trap against Bitter-Faced Buddha 1075 1091.
  • Pale-faced monster — Helped Qigu return from the demonic Void Realm. Their bargain becomes strained when the King of Qin insists on keeping Chen Qing’s body as his own reward 920 922.
