They had to keep a low profile, as low as possible until Bai Jing returned.
Song Xiaozhu continued synthesizing [raw wood material].
Once the timber Qiu Shuyu brought back was split to the dimensions Song Xiaozhu needed, there were about twenty-eight pieces. That was a considerable amount. Even if each piece yielded only one [raw wood material] on average, it would be enough.
Song Xiaozhu synthesized four more times without a single failure, though there were no more "critical hits," either.
Qiu Shuyu watched the whole time, wanting to ask but not knowing how.
To her, these wooden cubes were utterly useless.
Every one was neat and exactly the same size, but what could these smooth wooden blocks be used for?
She couldn't imagine.
She could ask... but Qiu Shuyu was afraid of hurting Song Xiaozhu.
She had worked so hard to make them with her Force...
And they weren't even as good as what she could do with one swing of her axe...
No, no, no, I couldn't split them that neatly!
Qiu Shuyu kept sighing inwardly, but not only did she keep it off her face, she even put on a look of keen interest as she watched Song Xiaozhu make wooden blocks.
The upside was...
Song Xiaozhu really did have abundant Force.
Even after making all these wooden blocks, she showed no sign of fatigue.
Song Xiaozhu had no idea what Qiu Shuyu was going through inside. All she could think about was the storage box!
One [raw wood material], two [raw wood material]...
Nineteen [raw wood material]...
A wonderful notification sounded in her ears:
"Synthesis successful. Obtained [raw wood material] ×2." "Evaluation: One of the basic raw materials." "Effect: None."
Song Xiaozhu: "!"
Another critical hit!
The timber Qiu Shuyu had given her was simply excellent quality. The success rate had reached at least 90%.
Looking at the twenty-one [raw wood material] before her, Song Xiaozhu hurriedly retrieved the four [raw stone material] she had hidden away.
This time, she didn't ask Qiu Shuyu what she saw. She just wanted to make the Crude Storage Box as quickly as possible.
As she placed the [raw material] on the Workbench, Song Xiaozhu paused.
When it wasn't synthesizing, the Workbench could hold only three [raw material] at a time, but the Crude Storage Box required a full twenty-four. How could they all fit?
If they wouldn't fit, how could she make it?
Could it be that she had to wait until the Synthesizer leveled up before she could make this Crude Storage Box?
Impossible!
Song Xiaozhu quickly dismissed the thought.
The recipe clearly specified the level. The Crude Storage Box really did require only level 1.
A thought struck Song Xiaozhu, and she silently said, Select the recipe "Crude Storage Box."
Sure enough, the notification sounded: "Recipe 'Crude Storage Box' selected. Please place the required raw materials."
When she looked at the Workbench again, twenty-four small recesses had appeared on its snowy-white left panel.
The Workbench was only a little over a meter long, so each of the twenty-four small recesses averaged only about three square centimeters. In theory, such tiny recesses couldn't hold [raw material] with sides over ten centimeters long, but...
Song Xiaozhu thought of Shang Bao's corpse...
If even that could shrink, [Raw material] would be no problem.
Song Xiaozhu placed a [raw wood material] into the corresponding recess. Sure enough, the [raw wood material] rapidly shrank, fitting snugly into it.
Once she had placed all the [raw material] in the recesses, the notification asked again, "Consume materials to synthesize Crude Storage Box?"
"Yes."
Song Xiaozhu had waited so long for this moment.
She was finally about to synthesize it, and she was so nervous that her palms were drenched in sweat.
It wasn't excitement so much as unease.
With the level 1 "Unlucky Player" title hanging over her head, she was genuinely afraid that the materials she had worked so hard to save would vanish in the blink of an eye.
White mist enveloped all the raw materials, and her Quantum Coins dropped from four to two.
This synthesis process felt especially long to Song Xiaozhu.
She silently counted her heartbeats. At most, thirty seconds had passed, yet every second felt extraordinarily long, so long that her eyes began to ache.
46, 47, 48...
The white mist gradually dispersed. Song Xiaozhu opened her eyes wide, and a large bead of sweat slid down her forehead, landing right at the corner of her eye. Its salty dampness made her rub her eyes...
The notification sounded in her ears:
"Synthesis successful. Obtained 'Crude Storage Box' ×1. "Evaluation: A crudely made storage box. Must be attached to the Workbench for use. "Effect: Can store 'synthesized items.'" "Level 1 'Spatial Master' achievement unlocked. Reward: 2 Quantum Coins."
Song Xiaozhu's eyes shone as she listened. Aside from the rather unflattering evaluation, every word was wonderful.
It had to be attached to the Workbench for use-not only was that no drawback for Song Xiaozhu, it was an immensely convenient advantage.
Only being able to store "synthesized items" was fine, too. Both [raw wood material] and [raw stone material] counted as "synthesized items." As long as she had enough basic raw materials, she wouldn't have to worry about being unable to make tools.
That last "Spatial Master" sounded even more advanced than "Purifier."
Presumably, there were "Spatial Masters" among the awakened, too. She wondered what their abilities were.
She had spent two Quantum Coins this time.
But presumably, the "Spatial Master" achievement was prestigious enough that it rewarded more Quantum Coins than before.
It was as good as spending nothing.
Song Xiaozhu let out a long breath.
The Crude Storage Box was still on the Workbench. She tried touching it, and the notification sounded: "Configure storage box?"
Song Xiaozhu: "Yes."
Even that silent reply was brimming with delight.
Another cloud of white mist enveloped the Workbench. Before long, a small box hung from the left side of the snowy-white Workbench.
By comparison, the little box was indeed very crude. Its body was made of wooden boards, with the four corners secured by roughly smoothed stones,
and next to the exquisite Workbench, it looked more like something from the Stone Age.
