Daoist Sect disciples confronted Devil Cultivators and the demons they had forced into battle, relying on an array of powerful Law Treasures to kill most of the demons. The Devil Cultivators watched in disbelief, wondering whether cultivation and Divine Abilities still mattered in a world where Law Treasures dominated combat.

• A Jade Void Mountain disciple warned his fellow Daoists that the Devil Cultivators were formidable, and the disciples prepared their Law Treasures while Yellow Turban Strongmen attacked the corpse soldiers.
• The Devil Cultivators forced the frightened demons to charge the Daoist Sect disciples, threatening them when they tried to retreat.
• The disciples unleashed their Law Treasures, and the Demon-Binding Rope sealed a rat demon's Law Power before a sword killed him.
• A tiger demon tried to catch the Mountain-Overturning Seal but was crushed, and the other Law Treasures killed more than half of the demons.

The cultivators used their powerful Law Treasures to break through the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and defeat the Devil Cultivators. As they prepared to leave, the old Daoist called out to ask them to wait.

• A Rising Tide Valley disciple used the Li Fire Fan to incinerate the remaining demons, and the cultivators discussed its power.
• Wu Hunyi urged the Devil Cultivators to fight, and they unleashed the Ten Thousand Souls Banner to conceal themselves and attack.
• The cultivators swept their Law Treasures in every direction, killing nearby Devil Cultivators and tearing holes through the banner.

Yunxi brought an elderly Daoist and his young attendant back to the Daoist Sect after he used an ancient book to learn a few Daoist arts and stood against the yaomo. At the Ancient Cloud Temple, Zhenke considered the old Daoist’s request to join and the Heart-Questioning Trial.

• An old Daoist sent a talisman-bearing arrow toward the Daoist Sect disciples, and Yunxi flew down to question him about his Daoist arts and ancient book.
• Yunxi and her junior brothers agreed to take the old Daoist and his young attendant to the mountain so the seniors could decide whether they could join the sect.
• Yunxi brought the pair through the mountain’s gates, where the old Daoist marveled at the immortal realm and worried about passing the sect’s assessment.
• Yunxi explained the pair’s situation to a senior brother, then took them to the Ancient Cloud Temple to meet Zhenke.
• Zhenke considered the old Daoist’s advanced age and thought that he could only enter the Daoist Sect by attempting the Heart-Questioning Trial.

Zhen Ke arranged for an old Daoist and his disciple to take the Heart-Questioning Trial, while Fang Zelin visited Jade Willow Mountain to obtain a technique for combating the Devil Race. As Fang Zelin traveled onward, he found signs of the mortal world's suffering and encountered starving refugees, whom he prepared to help.

• Zhen Ke offered the old Daoist the Heart-Questioning Trial, and he asked that his disciple be allowed to enter with him.
• Fang Zelin arrived, learned that the old Daoist and his disciple were about to take the trial, and used his Dharma Eye to see their recent causes and effects.
• Fang Zelin asked Zhen Ke for Jade Willow Mountain's Golden Mouth and Jade Voice technique and its green jade, then set off down the mountain to study it.
• Fang Zelin found scorched earth, corpses, and a Land God Temple whose local land god had vanished after being attacked.
• Fang Zelin came upon a starving group of refugees who eyed the children among them, so he took rice balls from his sleeve to help them.

Fang Zelin gave starving refugees spirit rice and directed them toward the armies of Great Shang and Great Yu, then practiced a Daoist Law Technique as he traveled. He met Ran Qianqian in a carriage, and she recognized him as the immortal depicted in her family’s ancient portrait.

• Fang Zelin fed a group of starving refugees and urged them to follow the road toward Great Shang and Great Yu for help.
• Fang Zelin studied the Law Technique and successfully summoned wind, fire, clouds, and rain, but stopped when a more difficult attempt threatened to cause backlash.
• A carriage party asked Fang Zelin where he came from, and he told them he was from Great Shang and that immortals had slain the demons there.
• Ran Qianqian decided to travel to Great Shang after hearing that immortals had intervened, then showed Fang Zelin the portrait of an immortal kept by her family.

Fang Zelin met Ran Qianqian, a descendant of the painter Ran Ziming, and reclaimed the portrait he had once promised to collect. Unable to grant her wish to cultivate immortality or gain eternal life, he heard her settle on a request for her descendants’ safety and prosperity.

• Ran Qianqian recognized Fang Zelin as an immortal and revealed that Ran Ziming was her ancestor.
• Fang Zelin remembered his agreement with Ran Ziming, examined the portrait, and offered Ran Qianqian one request in exchange for taking it.
• Ran Qianqian asked to cultivate immortality, but Fang Zelin judged that she lacked affinity for the immortal path and explained the Daoist Sect’s demanding requirements.

Fang Zelin agreed to help Ran Qianqian with a Blessing Technique and arranged for them to stay at an abandoned post station while she prepared. Later, at Seeking Dao Mountain, he learned from the old fisherman that he repeatedly forgot what happened there, and the fisherman offered to teach him tricks for the Golden Mouth and Jade Voice Technique.

• Fang Zelin agreed to bless Ran Qianqian after she spent three days bathing, burning incense, and meditating without distractions.
• Fang Zelin restored an abandoned post station, where Ran Qianqian arranged for her household servants and martial artists to stay.
• Fang Zelin struggled to study the Law Technique while Ran Qianqian prepared for the blessing.

Fang Zelin received the ancient insights into The Law Follows One's Words from the old Daoist and mastered the Divine Ability. With his forgotten memories of Seeking Dao Mountain restored, he offered to take the long-secluded Daoists out to see the modern immortal sects.

• The old Daoist explained that The Law Follows One's Words came from merging with the Dao and revealed that ancient Daoists had preserved their collective insights for someone capable of mastering it.
• Fang Zelin accepted the one-use book of insights, and its golden characters entered his mind before the book crumbled to ash.
• Fang Zelin studied the insights while the old Daoist and the others anxiously waited.
• Fang Zelin opened his eyes and said he had learned the Divine Ability, then recovered memories of his earlier visits to Seeking Dao Mountain.

Fang Zelin completed Ran Qianqian’s blessing and departed, while she and her household set out under the protection of the blessing. He then arrived beneath a city and found surviving underworld officials and gods fighting demons alongside cultivators.

• Fang Zelin finished cultivating his Divine Ability and prepared to complete Ran Qianqian’s blessing before leaving.
• Fang Zelin led Ran Qianqian through the blessing ceremony, using The Law Follows One's Words to bestow protection and good fortune upon her.
• Fang Zelin warned Ran Qianqian to do good and not rely on her blessing to commit evil, then departed after declaring their affinity had ended.

Fang Zelin used The Law Follows One's Words to kill the fleeing demons, mature the ice lotus, and restore his fellow Daoists to bodies. He then sent Bearing the Heavens to annihilate the Devil Race before leaving with Yunzi to seek old friends.

• The Daoist Sect disciples overwhelmed the Devil Race members, and Fang Zelin killed those who fled with a bolt of purple lightning.
• Fang Zelin used The Law Follows One's Words to mature the ice lotus and make lotus-root bodies for his fellow Daoists.
