Cosmology
Xuanhuang Treasure Tree
- True form: Demon Master Kunpeng identifies the immense treasure tree in his Diagram of Xuanhuang's True Form as Xuanhuang itself 471 472.
- Roots and trunk: The tree rises from dense xuanhuang earth containing the origins of existence and matter. Its trunk incorporates galaxies, solidified time, and interwoven laws 471.
- Branches and worlds: Its leaves are realm heavens, and its fruits are worlds. This structure appears again when Qi Yun invokes the Xuanhuang Origin 492 496.
- Purple qi: Mysterious purple qi hangs above the tree's crown in a higher dimension 471.
- Time: Heaven and Earth's Long River of Time encircles the tree 471.
All Wonders Heaven
- Nature: The source of all dharmas and the place where the Great Dao manifests, suspended above the Long River of Time 379 430.
- Dao Fruits: True Lords entrust their Dao Fruits there; damage to those fruits threatens the cultivation and status built over their lifetimes 430.
- Uniqueness: Only one All Wonders Heaven exists. Control over it would grant authority over the source of Dao Fruits and the rules of a replacement Xuanhuang 472.
- Connection to the Origin: When Qi Yun becomes Xuanhuang Master, its accumulated Daos and laws return toward their source, converging upon Primordial Unity 496.
Heaven's Will and the Xuanhuang Origin
- Heaven's Will: Appears within Qi Yun's Purple Mansion as an indistinct figure surrounded by the movement of chaos, azure light, and Xuanhuang Origin power 495.
- Origin: Supplies the foundational power that Qi Yun uses to nourish a real, independent world within his own Dao 495.
- Source authority: After fusion, Qi Yun can reclaim power drawn from Xuanhuang by a Dao King whose Dao Fruit has not become wholly independent of it 497.

Cultivation System
Xuanhuang Dao Attainment Method
| Element | Function |
|---|---|
| Dao Foundation | The foundation accumulated through cultivation, raised during the final ascent to True Lordhood 379. |
| Dharma Body | Tempers the physical form 379. |
| Immortal Aspect | Condenses divine intent 379. |

| True Lord attainment | Unites these elements, breaks free of the Long River of Time, and reaches All Wonders Heaven 379. |
| Divine Court | A True Lord's fundamental domain: a self-contained world whose Principles, natural cycles, and living beings follow its ruler's will 410. |
Strengths and Restrictions
- Established inheritance: The Xuanhuang Dao Attainment Method is an ancient, complete system, contrasted with Qi Yun's initially experimental independent path 369.
- Fruition Status protection: Grants authority, supports the true spirit against the Long River of Time, and enables the establishment of a Divine Court 410.
- Dependence on Xuanhuang: True Lords attain their Dao in Xuanhuang, anchor their true spirits there, and depend upon its continued existence. Sinking the realm would also destroy their Dao Fruits 404.
- Further refinement: True Lords must refine their heaven-bestowed Dao Fruits into personal Dao Paths, provoking resistance from heaven and earth's origin 424.
- Heaven and Earth's Aversion: Accumulated rejection can make Spiritual Qi, Principles, and Dao resonance resist a True Lord's use. Wudao's rapid, domineering advancement produced an especially severe case 425.
- External retreats: True Lords leave Xuanhuang to reduce this aversion before returning for further refinement. Other realms serve as refuges, testing grounds, and sources of external merit 424.
Heaven and Earth Xuanhuang Phenomenon
- Appearance: Black heavens above and warm yellow qi below represent the world's origin and the establishment of heaven and earth 438.
- Effects: Calms turbulent Spiritual Qi and restores order to chaotic Principles 438.
- Cultivation significance: Great True Persons recognize it as a sign associated with a True Lord's arrival. Qi Yun produces it during his Sword Qi breakthrough and again during the completion of his Hunyuan Great Luo Dao 438 452.
History
Great Tang and the Emperor's Legacy
At its height, the Great Tang ruled an immense territory and possessed such authority that its emperor's commands were said to make even True Lords bow. The dynasty forged twenty-four Nation-Suppressing Imperial Weapons using national fortune, its people's wishes, and vast material resources. These weapons scattered after its fall 254.
The Great Tang Emperor opposed the Dao Kings and was surrounded and killed by them. Before his death, he divided his Sword Dao into four parts, leaving a legacy whose final purpose was to protect Xuanhuang. Qi Yun reunites that inheritance in Chang'an, deepening his connection to the realm 482.
Buddhist Expansion in Southern Yin
Southern Yin entered turmoil after its imperial lord announced that he would become a monk. Overseas Buddhist cultivators rapidly gained control, transforming the dynasty into a Buddhist kingdom and creating friction with its established righteous-path forces 322 331.
The World-Honored One subsequently manifested from a handwritten scroll. His Dao resonance spread across Xuanhuang, while his golden light suppressed other Dao resonances; towering figures appeared above Spirit Mountain to challenge his declaration of supremacy 350.
Isolation and the Heavenly Court Crisis
An ancient coffin pursued six True Lords through the void and drove them back across Xuanhuang's boundary. Qi Yun concluded that a hidden will was preventing their departure. Desolate Halberd later warned that outside enemies would also block returning True Lords from entering the realm 416 427.
When the Heavenly Court emerged, disturbances in All Wonders Heaven drew Xuanhuang's True Lords into it. The World-Honored One's seal trapped them there for fifty years, leaving the realm without the powerful figures who normally restrained its factions 430 431 460.
Qi Yun assumed responsibility for suppressing the resulting turmoil. He closed the Heavenly Court for a declared sixty-year cycle and secured the compliance of the assembled Great True Persons. After fifty years, the True Lords returned to a changed balance of power and accepted an uneasy peace 442 455.
Revelation of the Dao Kings' Purpose
Kunpeng revealed that the Dao Kings sought to destroy Xuanhuang itself. Their mature Dao Fruits remained attached to the “mother tree”; destroying it would allow them to sever those bonds and become new Xuanhuangs 471.
Their objective also included seizing the unique All Wonders Heaven during the collapse. Possession of it would let the victor control Dao Fruits and establish the rules of the next era, explaining their mutual suspicion despite a shared enemy 472.
Great Tide of Time and Invasion
As the Great Tide of Time approached, Qi Yun warned that Xuanhuang's barrier would weaken and allow outside enemies to enter. He assembled the factions' True Lords and assigned them regional defensive duties 484.
Seven Dao Kings probed Qi Yun before their assault divided the sky into seven rifts and battlefields. Drawing on the Xuanhuang Origin, Qi Yun forced back the World-Honored One's will and closed his rift, though it later reopened 489 492 495.
Qi Yun then fully fused with Xuanhuang and attained the authority of Xuanhuang Master. His ability to reclaim the World-Honored One's power prompted the attackers to summon the Long River of Time. Canyi and Feng Xi restored their Dao King stations and joined the other seven, bringing their number to nine 495 496 497.
Remolding Xuanhuang
Qi Yun manifested Xuanhuang's complete treasure-tree form, binding his fate irrevocably to the world. Rather than merely resisting the Long River of Time, he used its force to reverse Xuanhuang toward the origin point before creation. The reversal also stripped accumulated essence from the Dao Kings' fruits and returned it to its source 498.
Everything on the battlefield—including the world, its surviving inhabitants, the nine Dao Kings, and the summoned river—contracted into a primordial seed. That seed sprouted a new treasure tree, separating clarity from turbidity and opening a newborn heaven and earth. Qi Yun appeared at its summit as the anchor of the remolded Xuanhuang 498.
