Background / History
Arrival at Jia Nan Academy
After reaching Dou Ling, Su Yun spent three days searching Jia Nan Academy for Zi Yan without finding her. When he eventually encountered her in Su Qian's office, he realized that she had only just been brought to the academy 69 80.
Su Qian had found Zi Yan living in the wilderness and decided to raise her at Jia Nan Academy. Although she spoke fiercely, he could tell that she had never eaten anyone. He declared her a student despite her protests that she was not a child and did not want to attend school 80 81.
Becoming Su Yun's Follower
Zi Yan initially rejected Su Yun's candy, dismissing it as lacking nutrition and refusing food offered by humans. Su Yun instead used his Green Wood Spirit Flame to turn medicinal ingredients and flavorings into a large lollipop. After tasting it, she eagerly ate the entire thing and allowed him to clean her face and pinch her cheek 80.
When Su Yun invited her to follow him, Zi Yan insisted that magical beasts would never be slaves. Another batch of medicinal lollipops persuaded her to accept the position of follower, on the condition that she could eat them often 81.
