Background / History

Nan Huai’an’s Disappearance

After several days of seclusion ordered by Bibi Dong, Hu Liena visited Nan Huai’an’s dormitory at Spirit Hall Academy. When affectionate calls failed to draw an answer, she kicked the door and prepared to climb over the wall. Xie Yue stopped her and explained that Nan Huai’an had taken extended leave to travel the continent. She was upset that he had left without her seeing him off 1.

A rift then appeared in the sky, broadcasting images of Nan Huai’an with a six-year-old Bibi Dong. Hu Liena immediately recognized him 1.

Reporting to the Pope

The broadcast revealed that Nan Huai’an was a Soul Emperor, despite normally appearing to be only a Soul Elder at the academy. Hu Liena, who had regularly given him cultivation lessons, felt embarrassed and deceived by his concealed strength 4.

She hurried to the Pope’s Palace and confirmed his identity to Bibi Dong, explaining that he was the same academy student she regularly chatted and cultivated with. Neither could explain his apparent journey to another spacetime, so Bibi Dong instructed her to continue watching 4 5.

Watching Bibi Dong’s Childhood Counterpart

Hu Liena remained beside Bibi Dong for much of the broadcast, repeatedly teasing her about her parallel counterpart’s fears, misbehavior, and dependence on Nan Huai’an. Her recurring suggestion was that the Pope should also call Nan Huai’an “Teacher” if he returned 6 10 13 16.

Her jokes repeatedly provoked threats of punishment. After she laughed at the broadcast of young Bibi Dong being spanked, the Pope approached her, prompting an immediate apology. Later, Hu Liena brought cake to enjoy while watching, repeated the crowd’s mocking comments, and laughed until Bibi Dong rose to strike her 17 20.

Interest in Immortal Herbs

After witnessing Dugu Bo’s Martial Soul evolution, Hu Liena eagerly awaited Nan Huai’an’s explanations of the immortal herbs. She wanted herbs that could enhance her beauty and evolve her Demon Fox Martial Soul. Bibi Dong admitted that she did not know their effects either; Hu Liena is not shown obtaining or consuming an herb in these chapters 25 26.

Personality

Hu Liena is openly affectionate toward Nan Huai’an but easily frustrated by his indifference. She addresses him sweetly as “little brother Huai’an,” resents missing his departure, and feels jealous when she sees how attentively he cares for young Bibi Dong compared with his response to her cafeteria invitations 1 6.

She is mischievous and persistent with her teacher. Even after reprimands, she continues pointing out contradictions between Bibi Dong’s dignified conduct and her counterpart’s antics. Her boldness often gives way to apologies or attempts to avoid eye contact when punishment seems imminent 11 17 20 25.
