Mission to Vast Sea City

After the sky screen revealed whale rubber’s cultivation benefits, Bibi Dong ordered Yue Guan and Gui Mei to travel to Vast Sea City. Their assignment was to seize control of as many ports as possible and secure Spirit Hall’s control over whale rubber before rival factions could act 8.

Securing the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

Yue Guan recognized the immortal herbs shown at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, becoming especially excited by the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum. He believed obtaining it would break his cultivation bottleneck and told Gui Mei that suitable herbs could help both of them reach rank ninety-six. They immediately sought an audience with Bibi Dong 18.

Bibi Dong dispatched the pair to coordinate with nearby bishops and bring the well under Spirit Hall’s control. Leaving Salas and the other Soul Masters outside, they protected themselves with Soul Power barriers and entered through the surrounding poison mist, where they found Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan 20 21.

Dugu Bo asked to take only the Jade Dragon Clear Essence Ganoderma needed to cure his family’s poison. Yue Guan refused to authorize its removal, prompting Dugu Bo to threaten to destroy every herb with his poison core. Lacking authority to distribute the herbs, Yue Guan negotiated a temporary truce: they would wait for the Pope, and he would advocate for benefits for Dugu Bo and his granddaughter 21.

Clear Sky Sect Ambush

When the Clear Sky Sect attacked Spirit Hall’s guards, Yue Guan and Gui Mei rushed to the valley entrance. Yue Guan saved Salas from Tang Longyang’s killing blow and ordered him to assist the surviving guards while the two elders faced Tang Longyang and Tang Wuyuan 23.

The four fought without a decisive advantage until Tang Wuyuan detonated all nine Soul Rings. The resulting attack severely injured Yue Guan and Gui Mei, leaving them unable to defeat Tang Longyang on their own 23 24.

Dugu Bo reversed the battle by feigning cooperation with the Clear Sky Sect, then restraining and poisoning its elders. At his urging, Yue Guan and Gui Mei activated the Two Extremes Stillness Domain, allowing Dugu Bo and Spirit Hall’s fighters to attack the immobilized enemies. Yue Guan subsequently promised Dugu Bo the two immortal herbs he wanted 24.

Golden Crocodile Douluo’s Intervention

Golden Crocodile Douluo arrived with Qian Renxue, blocked the enemy elders’ escape, and killed them. Yue Guan initially hesitated to admit him to the herb field without the Pope’s approval, but yielded when threatened 24 25.

Later, when Golden Crocodile Douluo moved to pick the Water Jade Skin Immortal Bone for Qian Renxue, Yue Guan tried to stop him, warning that Bibi Dong would blame them for allowing its removal 26.

Personality

Yue Guan frequently taunts Dugu Bo, addressing him as “Old Poison” and, on one occasion, “Little Poison.” His rivalry is not without attachment: after fighting Dugu Bo for nearly half his life, he feels regret rather than simple satisfaction upon learning that his opponent is being poisoned by his own Martial Soul 16 21. He later laughs to tears at the sky screen’s portrayal of Dugu Bo’s supposedly composed younger self 25.

He is cautious about acting beyond his authority. During the herb-field standoff, he insists that he and Gui Mei are following orders and cannot independently allocate the herbs. Nevertheless, he negotiates rather than risk their destruction and promises Dugu Bo two herbs after receiving his help in battle 21 24.
