Service in Gao Shang's Household

Three years before the opening events, Su Yuntao purchased Sun Meng under a servitude contract to care for the young Gao Shang. Although she later received monthly wages for working in his shop, she remained deeply conscious of her servant status. Because Gao Shang was largely self-sufficient, having little to do initially left her anxious; he opened the milk tea shop partly to give her work and partly to earn money 13.

Sun Meng handled customers, prepared milk tea ingredients, cooked meals, and attended to Gao Shang's daily needs. When he awakened his Soul Power, she prepared a celebratory feast, but he was too preoccupied with his business and cultivation plans to recognize its purpose 1 3 5 6.

Attack on the Milk Tea Shop

Wang Tianyuan and Hong Hua confronted Sun Meng with a fabricated complaint that the shop's milk tea had made them ill. Despite becoming frightened, she refused to concede that the ingredients were faulty and proposed asking Spirit Hall to settle the matter. The pair demanded either five hundred Gold Soul Coins or the shop and its recipes 11.

When Wang Tianyuan swung his hammer toward the ground beside her, Gao Shang intervened and stopped it. After defeating the attackers, he learned that Zhou Qi had hired them to obtain his whale-rubber business channel or kill him. Recognition as Family

Following the attack, Gao Shang invited Sun Meng to dine with Su Yuntao and Sisi. Even when intimidated by Soul Masters, she defends the shop's products rather than accepting a false accusation 1 11 14 18.

Her servitude strongly shapes her self-image. She becomes nervous around Su Yuntao, doubts whether she belongs at his dinner table, and struggles to accept Gao Shang's insistence that she is family. She is similarly reluctant to accept the Red Spider Lily, believing her lack of innate talent would make the gift wasteful 13 14 31.

She is affectionate, trusting, and concerned for others. She worries about Han Xing's relentless training and about Hong Hua being overlooked when Gao Shang distributes instruction. Her fear that her soul-collecting ability resembles a Fallen Soul Master's power also shows her reluctance to gain strength through harming innocents 33 34.
