All the Way to the Shores of the South Sea
At night, Bai Yushan took Bi Ji to a sheltered cave in the desolate mountains.
The cave is not large, only about two or three zhang deep. The entrance is hidden by dense vines, and it is difficult to find unless you are looking for it.
The cave was dry and clean, indicating that wild animals had once inhabited it, but they had long since fled in terror, frightened by the faint but palpable aura of killing intent emanating from Bai Yushan.
Bai Yushan walked to the deepest part of the cave and casually threw the black-haired wild boar he was carrying on his back onto the ground. He had hunted the boar in the mountains that afternoon; it was large, plump, and strong enough for the two of them to have a good meal.
He crouched down, took out a short knife from his Storage Soul Tool, and deftly gutted the wild boar, skinned it, removed the bones, and cut it into chunks of meat with alternating layers of fat and lean meat.
The whole process was smooth and efficient, without any hesitation, clearly indicating that he had done it countless times over the past few months.
Bi Ji stood at the cave entrance, watching Bai Yushan's busy figure, her emerald green eyes filled with tenderness.
She didn't step forward to help, but simply watched quietly. She knew that although Bai Yushan seemed carefree and unrestrained, he had his own rhythm when it came to doing things. Her rash intervention might disrupt his pace.
After processing the meat, Bai Yushan clapped his hands and stood up.
He raised his right hand and flicked his fingertips slightly.
"Crackling--"
A thin arc of blue-white electricity leaped from his fingertips and landed on the dry firewood that had already been piled up beside the cave entrance.
The electric current instantly ignited the dry firewood, and flames shot up, illuminating the entire cave. The orange-red flames danced on the cave walls, casting a long shadow of Bai Yushan.
Bai Yushan took out an iron skewer from his Storage Soul Tool, skewered the pieces of meat one by one onto it, and then placed it over the fire to slowly roast.
The grease dripped onto the charcoal fire, making a sizzling sound, and the enticing aroma of meat quickly filled the cave.
Bi Ji walked to the fire and found a flat rock to sit on. She hugged her calves with both hands, rested her chin on her knees, and quietly watched Bai Yushan roast meat.
The firelight illuminated her face, casting a warm orange-red hue over her exquisite features. Her skin, as white as snow, appeared even more translucent and delicate in the firelight, as if it could be broken with a touch.
Her long, emerald-green hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, with subtle shimmering light flowing through the strands, like the finest jade.
Her eyes, also emerald green, were like two clear springs, shimmering in the firelight, as if containing endless tenderness. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, casting a faint shadow beneath her eyelids.
She sat there quietly, radiating a rich life force, gentle and pure, like a fairy descended to earth.
Bai Yushan was grilling meat, and occasionally he would turn his head to glance at Bi Ji sitting by the fire, and a warm feeling would inexplicably well up in his heart.
It's been four or five months.
After four or five months of solitary training and four or five months of continuous killing, he had grown accustomed to being alone. He had grown accustomed to spending cold nights alone by a campfire, gnawing on dry, roasted meat, and listening to the chirping of insects and the sound of the wind in the mountains.
But now, there's someone else by my side.
A person who would look at him gently, wipe his face, and feel sorry for his wounds.
This feeling is both unfamiliar and warm.
"Okay, you can eat now."
Bai Yushan handed the grilled meat skewers to Bi Ji in a casual tone.
Bi Ji took the skewer and took a small bite. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with delicious meat and just the right amount of seasoning—exactly the same taste as she remembered.
"Tasty."
Bi Ji squinted, a satisfied smile spreading across her face, like a cat that had just eaten a fish.
Seeing her satisfied expression, Bai Yushan's lips curled up slightly. He also picked up a skewer of meat and began to eat it in large bites.
The two sat around the fire, quietly eating their roasted meat. Outside the cave, the night wind howled, rustling through the forest. Inside, the firelight was warm, the aroma of meat filled the air, and the atmosphere was cozy and peaceful.
After eating for a while, Bi Ji suddenly raised her head and looked at Bai Yushan, her emerald green eyes filled with a hint of doubt.
"Xiaoshan, are you heading towards the Star Dou Great Forest to seek refuge in the core area?"
Her voice, soft and melodious, sounded exceptionally clear in the quiet cave.
Bai Yushan blinked, his mouth still stuffed with a piece of meat, and mumbled, "Of course not."
Bi Ji tilted her head, the firelight illuminating her exquisite face, giving her a unique beauty. As she tilted her head, her long hair slid down from her shoulders, revealing a section of her fair and slender neck, which gleamed with a warm glow in the firelight.
"Huh? Then why are you heading towards the core area of Star Dou Great Forest?"
Her tone was full of doubt.
To be honest, before finding Bai Yushan, Bi Ji was thinking that if Bai Yushan really wanted to escape the outside world and seek refuge in the core area of Star Dou Great Forest, she could secretly step in and get the Ferocious Beast to accept a human from outside.
After all, given her status in the Star Dou Great Forest, those Ferocious Beast would still give her this much face.
But now it seems that things aren't as she thought.
However, there's no need to reveal their Soul Beast identity anymore.
Bi Ji secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She hadn't intended to hide it from Bai Yushan, but the identity of the 400,000-year-old Emerald Swan was too shocking. She didn't know how to bring it up, and she was also afraid that Bai Yushan would look at her differently if he found out.
She was afraid.
She feared that Bai Yushan would distance himself from her and leave her once he learned her true identity.
Therefore, she chose to keep it a secret.
Bai Yushan, unaware of Bi Ji's thoughts, swallowed the meat in his mouth, wiped his mouth, and revealed everything. "I just want to use this road to go south."
"South?"
Bi Ji stretched out her legs, and her light green dress slipped down with her movement, revealing a section of her fair and slender ankles. She didn't ask any further questions.
Although she knew that Xiaoshan would definitely tell her if she asked, it was better to keep some space when it came to secrets.
Everyone has their own secrets, and everyone has things they don't want to talk about. She didn't want to put Bai Yushan in a difficult position because of her curiosity.
Moreover, she would accompany Bai Yushan wherever he went.
That's enough.
The Star Dou Great Forest is located in the central-eastern part of the Douluo Continent, and it almost runs through the entire continent.
Its northern end reaches the foot of Heaven Dou City. Its southern end extends all the way to the coast of the South Sea. The entire forest is vast and boundless, stretching for tens of thousands of miles. It is the largest habitat for Soul Beast on the Douluo Continent, and a sacred and forbidden land in the hearts of countless Soul Master.
Bai Yushan is going to the South Sea!
He planned to travel south along the edge of the Star Dou Great Forest, traversing the entire continent, and finally reaching the shores of the South Sea.
