Bi Ji's Arrival
"Bi Ji?"
Bai Yushan's voice carried a hint of disbelief, a tremor, and a tenderness that even he himself didn't realize.
The moment his scarlet eyes saw the green figure, they visibly lost their crimson color, regaining their lively and carefree appearance.
The next moment.
Bi Ji threw herself into Bai Yushan's arms.
Her body was soft and warm, brimming with vitality. Her long, emerald-green hair cascaded down Bai Yushan shoulders like a waterfall, with subtle shimmering light emanating from the strands.
She hugged Bai Yushan tightly, her arms wrapped tightly around his waist, as if trying to meld him into her own body. Her face was buried in Bai Yushan's chest, her shoulders trembling slightly, and warm liquid seeped into his skin through Bai Yushan tattered clothes.
Bi Ji cried.
This woman, who was usually gentle and virtuous, always radiating maternal warmth, cried like a child at this moment.
Bai Yushan was stunned for a moment.
Then, he slowly raised his hand and gently placed it on Bi Ji's back. After hesitating for a moment, he finally patted her gently.
"Okay, stop crying."
His voice was somewhat clumsy and stiff, yet it carried a subtle, almost imperceptible gentleness.
Bi Ji didn't say anything, she just hugged him tighter.
Tears streamed down her cheeks, making her look pitiful and heartbreaking.
As Bai Yushan felt the warmth and softness in her arms, something seemed to touch a hard spot in his heart.
They hadn't seen each other for over a year since leaving Aolai City with Na'er.
More than a year.
Nearly four hundred days and nights
He thought he had grown accustomed to being alone. Accustomed to killing, accustomed to fighting, accustomed to teetering on the edge of life and death. But when Bi Ji threw herself into his arms, he realized that he, too, could miss someone.
He misses the days in Aolai City, and he misses Sister Bi Ji, who always looked at him gently, cooked for him, and healed his wounds.
The two of them remained in that embrace, neither of them speaking.
The surrounding smells of blood and burnt flesh seemed to vanish in that instant. In their place came the faint, fresh scent of grass and dew emanating from Bi Ji, and a rich vitality.
Because of Bi Ji's arrival, Bai Yushan's murderous aura subsided considerably.
The faint aura of violence emanating from him gradually subsided. His crimson eyes returned to normal. His breathing also gradually became steady.
A while later...
Bi Ji slowly raised her head.
Her eyes were red-rimmed, with tears still clinging to the corners. Her emerald green eyes were filled with heartache and tenderness. She raised her hand and gently stroked a scar on Bai Yushan's face, her fingertips trembling slightly.
"Xiaoshan, you... how did you become like this?"
Her voice was soft and filled with heartache, "How did you get so many injuries? Do you know, my heart broke when I saw you."
Seeing Bi Ji's distressed expression, Bai Yushan Yushan's lips curled into a casual smile, "It's nothing, just a minor injury, nothing serious."
"You still say you're fine!"
Bi Ji's voice suddenly rose a few decibels, carrying a hint of reproach, "Look at you, covered in injuries, your clothes are torn like this, and you haven't even taken care of your hair. How have you been coping these past few months?"
As she spoke, she took out a handkerchief from her Storage Soul Tool and carefully wiped the blood and dust from Bai Yushan's face. Her movements were very light and gentle, as if she were handling a rare treasure.
Bai Yushan stood obediently in place, letting Bi Ji wipe him. His gaze gradually softened.
I haven't felt this way of being cared for and looked after in a long time.
After four or five months of solitary training and four or five months of continuous killing, he had become accustomed to being alone. He was used to healing his own wounds, finding his own food when hungry, and finding his own place to rest when tired.
But now, Bi Ji has arrived.
Bi Ji, the sister who always took gentle care of him and showed him concern, has arrived.
A warm feeling welled up in Bai Yushan's heart.
Bi Ji carefully wiped Bai Yushan's face clean, then examined his wounds. When she saw the crisscrossing new and old injuries, her eyes reddened again.
"Xiaoshan, come back with me."
She looked up at Bai Yushan, her emerald green eyes filled with pleading, "Don't stay out there alone anymore, it's too dangerous. Come back to Shrek City with me, or back to the Spirit Pagoda, okay?"
Although Bi Ji secretly yearned to possess Bai Yushan and even wished that the two of them could be inseparable forever.
But her face still held that gentle and tender expression, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at Bai Yushan, making it impossible for anyone to refuse her.
Bai Yushan looked at Bi Ji's appearance and remained silent for a moment.
Then, he shook his head.
"No."
His voice was calm, yet carried an undeniable firmness. "I can't go back yet."
Bi Ji's eyes dimmed slightly.
But she wasn't angry, nor did she force him. She just sighed softly, then reached out and gently hugged Bai Yushan's arm.
"I knew you'd say that."
Her voice was soft and helpless, "You and Na'er are both stubborn; once you've made up your mind, no one can change it."
She paused, then added, "But if you don't go back, I'll stay with you. Wherever you go, I'll go."
Bai Yushan paused for a moment, then turned to look at Bi Ji: "You're coming with me?"
"Yes." Bi Ji nodded, her emerald green eyes filled with determination. "I've already taken a long leave from the hospital, and I've also spoken to Na'er. This time, I'll stay with you, take care of you, and never let you be alone again."
Bai Yushan looked at Bi Ji's resolute expression and remained silent for a moment.
He wanted to refuse. After all, the enemies he was about to face were becoming increasingly dangerous.
But when he saw the unwavering determination in Bi Ji's eyes, the words of refusal that were on the tip of his tongue were swallowed back down.
He knew that once Bi Ji had made up her mind, just like him, no one could change it.
"Whatever you want."
Bai Yushan only said this much before turning around and walking deeper into the Star Dou Great Forest.
A radiant smile instantly bloomed on Bi Ji's face.
She quickly caught up with Bai Yushan, reached out, and gently took his arm.
Bai Yushan's body stiffened slightly.
But he didn't shake him off.
And so, the two of them, one tall and one short, one male and one female, walked side by side through this desolate mountain.
The mountains of corpses and seas of blood surrounding them were left behind.
The afterglow of the setting sun filtered through the dense foliage, casting long, long shadows on them.
Bi Ji linked arms with Bai Yushan, rested her head gently on his shoulder, and wore a satisfied and happy smile on her face.
