He spent his first year in Heavenly Spirit Village as an impoverished orphan, living in a dilapidated wooden hut. The village's only Soul Master, Wang Lun, repeatedly abused him and broke his leg to prevent him from entering Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy 1 4.

The Hextech Excavation System's Recombobulator overturned his circumstances overnight. After acquiring the Golden Spatula and his first Soul Ring, he killed Wang Lun and ordered Baron Nashor to devour Heavenly Spirit Village. He took the villagers' money, watched the road toward Nuoding City for two days to check for potential avengers, and burned the ruins to conceal the evidence. Behind that persona, he is greedy, vindictive, and willing to treat people as cultivation resources. His revenge against Wang Lun expands into the destruction of an entire village, while a dispute over a melon's price prompts a brutal assault on its vendor. He also attacks Meng Yiran after her accusation of theft and ultimately severs one of her hands 2 4 22 23.

He combines cruelty with careful risk management. He hides evidence, separates his public fighting styles, and delays attacks when Tang Hao's presence makes them dangerous. Scavenger Hunts and the Star Dou Great Forest

During the forest expedition, he escalates the dispute with Meng Yiran, survives Dragon Duke's retaliation when the Titan Giant Ape intervenes, and exploits the danger to strengthen his reputation for loyalty. Arena Battles and Conflict with Yu Xiaogang

Yu Xiaogang's arrival brings scrutiny of Shangguan Hong's rings and attempts to establish Tang San as the team's leader.
