Background / History

Martial Soul and Reverse Scale

Yu Yuanzhen identifies the Fire Dragon King as one of the Nine Great Dragon Kings, explaining that only the leader of the fire dragon race qualifies for the title. Humans ordinarily cannot awaken dragon king Martial Souls because their bodies cannot withstand their power, making Yu Xuan’s awakening exceptional 3.

During Yu Xuan’s first Soul Ring expedition, his Fire Dragon King Martial Soul draws him toward a hidden spatial rift near a volcano in the Star Dou Great Forest. Inside, the Martial Soul opens a stone gate that resisted Yu Yuanzhen’s Eighth Soul Skill. Beyond it, Yu Xuan obtains the Fire Dragon King’s reverse scale, which later allows him and Yu Yuanzhen to escape the sealed space 5 6 7.

Meeting Yu Xuan

When Yu Xuan reaches the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, the Fire Dragon King emerges from the springs as a vast dragon soul. He acknowledges that Yu Xuan can withstand his power and reiterates that a human could not normally awaken his Martial Soul. Yu Xuan interprets this as an indirect admission of the king’s involvement, but the method and reason behind his awakening remain unexplained 21.

The Fire Dragon King uses the remnants of his origin to baptize Yu Xuan in the Yang Spring. During the process, he explains how to enter the Mystic Fire Secret Realm and reveals that it contains a Super Divine Artifact he personally forged 21.

After completing the baptism, he warns Yu Xuan about Full-Body Dragon Transformation and asks him to return upon reaching level seventy for another gift. His dragon soul then dissolves into light and sinks back into the well 22.

Appearance

The Fire Dragon King appears as a crimson dragon soul approximately one hundred meters tall. He closely resembles Yu Xuan’s Martial Soul, but possesses a presence described as “deep as an abyss and as vast as the sea” 21.
