Appearance
- An elderly man, introduced wearing golden armor 1.
- Dons the Angel Set when renewing his attack on Qian Nuo during the awakening confrontation 13.
- Wears the Angel Soul Bone set during his later confrontation with Qian Nuo. The armor is incomplete because one Angel Soul Bone is missing 126.
- Appears as a golden soul figure after being retrieved from the golden world. His formerly ephemeral form becomes solid when Qian Nuo completes his resurrection 176 177.
Personality
Qian Daoliu places his identity as the Angel God’s representative above ordinary family obligations. He regards light and evil as irreconcilable, treating Qian Nuo’s innate evil power as evidence of a future threat before the child has committed any wrongdoing. Although blood ties repeatedly make him hesitate, he ultimately attempts to kill his grandson when the Angel God commands it 2 3 5 12 13.
His treatment of Qian Renxue is markedly different. He raises her affectionately, praises her achievements, and becomes distressed whenever her training appears dangerous. His protectiveness also makes him resistant to unconventional cultivation methods, though he openly admits his shortsightedness after Qian Nuo’s training produces measurable results 11 24 25 26 42.
As Spirit Hall’s senior authority, he is pragmatic and willing to conceal the truth. He protects Bibi Dong despite knowing she murdered his son, then redirects public blame toward Tang Hao to preserve Qian Renxue’s relationship with her mother. His attitude toward Qian Nuo likewise changes: fear follows his defeat, but he later recognizes the importance of the siblings’ bond and resolves to protect his grandson 14 19 20 28.
This accommodation does not erase his hostility or pride. He becomes jealous when Qian Renxue chooses Qian Nuo as her trial opponent, repeatedly challenges his training decisions, and reacts furiously to insults against the Angel God. His affection for his granddaughter coexists with resentment toward her brother and an awareness that he cannot overpower him 37 59 64 67 68.
Qian Daoliu accepts sacrifice as the culmination of his religious duty. He orders the other Worships to conceal its necessity from Qian Renxue and takes comfort in knowing that Qian Nuo will remain to protect her. Even after death, he initially prefers the Angel God’s promised position as an immortal divine servant to returning to life 149 175.
Following his resurrection, he states that he is no longer the Great Enshrined. When Qian Nuo returns as the Demon God, he still notices his evil presence but refuses to oppose him, explaining that his mission is complete. He also proves willing to withdraw from public life if his presence obstructs Bibi Dong’s reconciliation with Qian Renxue 176 177 187 188.
History
The Twins’ Birth
Qian Daoliu investigates an extreme evil presence after Bibi Dong tries to stab her pregnant belly. He uses sacred light to calm her and discovers that the presence belongs to her unborn son. Initially, he considers suppressing the boy’s evil with divine light and raising him under strict guidance 1 2.
At the twins’ birth, he proposes killing Qian Nuo to prevent a future enemy of the Angel Clan from growing up. Qian Xunji persuades him to spare the child, and Qian Daoliu orders both infants removed from Bibi Dong’s care for their safety. After Qian Nuo destroys the lightning tribulation that follows his birth, Qian Daoliu orders the witnesses to remain silent 3 4.
Consulting the Angel God, he learns that the tribulation originated from Douluo Star’s consciousness and that the Divine Realm is watching Qian Nuo. He leaves the boy’s upbringing to Qian Xunji and takes responsibility for Qian Renxue, whom the Angel God identifies as a promising successor 5.
Awakening Ceremony and Defeat
For six years, Qian Daoliu teaches Qian Renxue swordsmanship and preliminary meditation while remaining distant from Qian Nuo. He bars his grandson from the Angel Main Hall, fearing both contamination of its sacred light and the Angel God’s reaction 9 10 11.
He presides over the twins’ Martial Soul awakening and celebrates Qian Renxue’s Six-Winged Angel and Innate Level 20 Soul Power. When Qian Nuo manifests Ryomen Sukuna’s overwhelming evil presence, the Angel God orders his destruction. Qian Daoliu responds with Angel Judgment, but Qian Nuo catches and shatters the sword before striking him through the Worship Hall 12 13.
Qian Daoliu attacks again in the Angel Set. Qian Xunji steps between them and is pierced by the energy sword, provoking Qian Nuo into beating Qian Daoliu nearly to death. Qian Nuo subsequently heals him, sparing him for Qian Xunji and Qian Renxue’s sake while warning him never to attack again. Shaken, Qian Daoliu asks his son to convey an apology and decides to remain in the Angel Main Hall unless a major matter requires his attention 13 14.
Qian Xunji’s Death and the Cover-Up
Qian Daoliu senses the disappearance of Qian Xunji’s angel life origin, then receives a message from Yue Guan and Gui Mei explaining that Bibi Dong killed his wounded son. He immediately leaves to rescue the two witnesses from her pursuit 18.
After forcing Bibi Dong to one knee with his pressure, he acknowledges that Qian Xunji had wronged her first. He nevertheless warns that Qian Nuo would seek a terrible revenge if he learned the truth. Rather than execute her, Qian Daoliu declares that Tang Hao killed Qian Xunji, explaining that he does not want Qian Renxue to lose her mother as well 19 20.
He issues a continent-wide warrant for Tang Hao and orders an attack on the Clear Sky Sect, with Bibi Dong to lead the operation and succeed as Pope afterward. His intended outcome is the sect’s withdrawal, not its destruction. Spirit Hall’s victory forces the Clear Sky Sect to seal its gates 20 23.
Star Dou Great Forest Expedition
A month after the awakening, Qian Daoliu clashes with Qian Nuo over the plan to give Qian Renxue a Thousand-Year First Soul Ring. Her tearful demand that they stop fighting leads him to accompany the siblings rather than forbid the hunt 24.
During the journey, Qian Nuo’s Soul Power destroys his testing ball, which Qian Nuo then repairs. Qian Renxue’s LV25 result convinces Qian Daoliu that her brother’s training is effective. He later celebrates her successful Thousand-Year First and Second Soul Rings and agrees to support preparations for a Ten-Thousand-Year Third Soul Ring through the Angel God’s trials 25 26 28.
Watching the siblings together, he accepts that Qian Nuo may be Qian Renxue’s only loving companion after his own eventual sacrifice. He consequently resolves to protect him. During Qian Nuo’s subsequent hunts, he shelters Qian Renxue, witnesses his grandson obtain four Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Rings, and guards the surroundings during absorption 28 30 31 33.
He celebrates Qian Nuo’s Hundred-Thousand-Year First Soul Ring as another record belonging to the Qian Family. His grandson’s four red rings contrast with his own single Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring, which came from an Angel God trial reward rather than direct absorption 31 33 43.
Angel Trials and Bibi Dong’s Papacy
Qian Daoliu helps Qian Renxue begin the Angel God Nine Trials. He offers himself as the combat opponent for her second trial, but she chooses Qian Nuo instead. Despite his concern about their opposing attributes, the Angel God accepts her choice 35 36.
Before Bibi Dong’s coronation, he sends Light Feather Douluo to ask Qian Nuo to bring Qian Renxue to the ceremony. The invitation also allows him to gauge Qian Nuo’s attitude toward his mother without meeting him personally. His reluctance includes jealousy over Qian Renxue’s choice of combat instructor 37.
He retains decisive authority behind Bibi Dong’s papacy. She requires his support to secure the Elder Hall Douluo’s cooperation in hunting the Bloody Demon Spider Emperor. Although wary of her ambitions, he comes to regard Qian Nuo’s strength as sufficient to keep her in check 38 39 42 43.
His objections to Qian Renxue’s harsh training persist. When she insists on continuing despite his intervention, he withdraws to the Angel Main Hall 42.
Renewed Conflicts over Qian Renxue’s Training
When Qian Nuo returns carrying a bloodied, sleeping Qian Renxue, Qian Daoliu blocks his path and demands an explanation. Learning that Qian Nuo has taken the seven-year-old to kill people, he argues that the experience could damage her mind and impede her future Angel Trials. Their argument escalates when Qian Nuo insults the Angel God and rejects his authority to interfere. Qian Nuo strikes him with a wind blade, sending him flying and forcing him to return to the Angel Main Hall to recover 59.
He objects again when Qian Renxue is to receive a Hundred-Thousand-Year Third Soul Ring from an evil-attribute beast, fearing incompatibility with her light attribute. Qian Nuo rejects his claim to familial authority and threatens him, while Qian Renxue insists that she trusts her brother. Qian Daoliu ultimately witnesses the successful sacrifice of the Demonic Shadow Butterfly Emperor and celebrates the resulting red ring 64 65.
Qian Nuo teasingly offers him a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring if he begs for it. Although tempted, Qian Daoliu refuses to lose face and considers Qian Renxue’s advancement sufficient, since he still expects to sacrifice his life for her. He uses a replacement testing orb to confirm that her Soul Power has reached Level 40 and questions her about the additional skills granted by the ring 65 66.
He then witnesses Qian Nuo absorb five more Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Rings and attempt to fuse ten rings into a Million-Year God Ring. His warnings prove unfounded when the fusion succeeds. Qian Nuo deliberately directs his increased presence toward him; despite summoning the Six-Winged Angel and using demigod power, Qian Daoliu is forced to his knees. After another four beasts sacrifice themselves to Qian Nuo, he leaves at his grandson’s instruction, telling Qian Renxue to cultivate well 66 67 68.
The Heaven Dou Infiltration Plan
Bibi Dong proposes establishing the Spirit Hall Empire by having Qian Renxue replace the Heaven Dou crown prince. Because Bibi Dong fears meeting Qian Nuo and has a poor relationship with her daughter, Qian Daoliu agrees to discuss the proposal with Qian Renxue himself. He joins the siblings for breakfast at his granddaughter’s invitation and even gives Qian Nuo a rare compliment for his cooking 73 74.
The Angel God’s Fourth Trial requires Qian Renxue to demonstrate strategic judgment in large-scale conflict. Qian Daoliu explains that overthrowing an empire through her own planning could fulfill the requirement and presents Bibi Dong’s infiltration proposal. When Qian Nuo offers to destroy the Heaven Dou Imperial Family directly, he refuses, emphasizing that the trial tests Qian Renxue’s experience and decision-making rather than merely the final outcome 74.
He also stops Qian Nuo from killing Bibi Dong and suggests replacing her with him as Pope instead, an offer Qian Nuo rejects. Once Qian Renxue agrees to infiltrate Heaven Dou with her brother accompanying her, Qian Daoliu takes her to obtain the Angel God Armor bones needed for disguise 74.
In the Angel Main Hall, he objects when Qian Renxue tests her disguise by imitating Qian Nuo’s appearance and evil presence. He also warns her not to let her attachment to her brother jeopardize the operation. He subsequently informs Bibi Dong that Qian Renxue has agreed and is ready, explaining that Qian Nuo’s presence makes additional protection unnecessary and that she need only arrange the replacement personnel 75.
Submission to the Myriad Worlds Alliance
When Qian Nuo defeats the six Enshrined and demands control of Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu confronts him in the incomplete Angel Soul Bone armor. He invokes the Angel God’s aid and attacks with the Angel Holy Sword, declaring his intention to eliminate Qian Nuo as a scourge. Qian Nuo manifests five God Rings and defeats him despite the divine assistance 126.
After the Angel God’s power leaves him, Qian Daoliu agrees to surrender Spirit Hall’s authority. He emphasizes Qian Nuo’s membership in the Qian Family and explains that he cannot die before fulfilling his role in Qian Renxue’s trials. He accepts Qian Nuo’s ambition to unify the world, orders Spirit Hall to submit to the Myriad Worlds Alliance, and replaces the papal system with a hall-master system 126.
Later Angel Trials
Qian Renxue’s Fifth Trial requires her to defeat an opponent at least as strong as the Great Enshrined, with Qian Daoliu as the default opponent. She trains under him in the Worship Hall, where his experience allows him to match her at equal cultivation, although the trial requires victory over him at his peak 128 129.
When Bibi Dong seeks his help in obtaining a share of Qian Nuo’s territories, he tells her to approach Qian Nuo directly. He also encourages a better relationship between Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue, revealing that her past treatment of the twins was connected to their father. Rather than explain immediately, he promises Qian Renxue the truth when she becomes a god 130.
For six years, he concentrates on sparring with Qian Renxue and largely ignores outside political developments. Even after hearing that Bibi Dong has helped create a three-way balance of kingdoms, he expects Qian Nuo to settle matters on his return. When Qian Renxue reaches Level 95, Qian Daoliu deliberately holds back so that she can finally defeat him and complete the Fifth Trial 137.
The Sixth Trial requires Qian Renxue to defeat the other Enshrined under his pressure. Qian Daoliu and the others again cooperate in easing her passage, unwilling to prolong the trials further. She advances to the peak of Level 96 and receives the Seventh Trial: drawing the Angel Holy Sword 137 138 148.
Qian Nuo returns to the Worship Hall after six years and reunites with Qian Renxue. Qian Daoliu encourages them to spend time together, then warns the six Worships not to provoke Qian Nuo, whom he believes has likely reached god-level strength and may exceed even the Divine Realm’s ability to oppose. When Golden Crocodile raises the approaching sacrifice, he orders them not to tell Qian Renxue, reaffirming that it is his mission and taking comfort in Qian Nuo’s continued protection of her 149.
Sacrifice and Resurrection
Qian Daoliu sacrifices himself so that Qian Renxue can complete the Angel Trials and become the new Angel God. Before dying, he fulfills his promise to reveal the truth about Qian Xunji’s treatment of Bibi Dong, shattering Qian Renxue’s idealized image of her father and deepening her sympathy for her mother 174.
His soul survives in a golden world associated with the dead. The previous Angel God, Qian Yuhan, has promised to make him an immortal divine servant. Qian Nuo uses Qian Renxue’s nine God Rings to locate him and enters the golden world to retrieve him. Qian Daoliu initially questions the possibility of resurrection and expresses a preference for serving the Angel God, but Qian Nuo refuses to let a close blood relative become another deity’s servant and forcibly takes his soul away 175.
Qian Yuhan attempts to stop them, claiming Qian Daoliu as hers. He instinctively tries to bow, but Qian Nuo prevents it and tells him that he is free. Qian Nuo destroys the Angel God’s spiritual clone and returns Qian Daoliu’s soul to the Martial Emperor Palace 175 176.
There, Qian Daoliu tells the reunited Enshrined that he is no longer the Great Enshrined. Chen Xin confronts him over his father’s death, and Qian Daoliu explains that Chen Xin’s father challenged him three times and died after losing the final duel. Qian Nuo restrains Chen Xin’s hostility and begins using Cursed Technique Reversal on Qian Daoliu’s soul 176.
The technique restores Qian Daoliu to life. Qian Nuo appoints him an elder of both the Myriad Worlds Alliance and the Spirit Hall Empire. On learning that Qian Renxue has gone to kill the Sea God’s inheritor, Tang Xiao, Qian Daoliu immediately worries that Bo Saixi will have to sacrifice herself. He begs Qian Nuo to save her, revealing that his longstanding love for the Sea God’s High Priestess remains strong 177.
Bibi Dong’s Rebellion and Reconciliation
While Qian Renxue maintains order in Qian Nuo’s empire, Qian Daoliu senses divine power emerging from the former Pope’s Hall and recognizes that Bibi Dong has become a god 186.
When Bibi Dong demands the empire and fights Qian Renxue, Qian Daoliu intervenes. By this point, he possesses Level 100 god-level strength despite having no godhood. His Six-Winged Angel True God radiance suppresses Bibi Dong, who is shocked to discover that the former Great Enshrined is alive 187.
He urges her to turn back, acknowledging that Qian Xunji wronged her while defending Qian Renxue’s innocence. He states that he had not known of his son’s original abuse when it happened and reveals that he had long known of Bibi Dong’s Rakshasa inheritance but deliberately refrained from killing her. Bibi Dong refuses to abandon her revenge, and he attributes her extremity in part to the harmful influence of the Rakshasa Godhood 187.
Qian Nuo returns as the Demon God and announces that he has slaughtered the gods of the Divine Realm. Although Qian Daoliu remarks on his evil presence, he declines to oppose him, saying that his own mission is complete. He cries out in alarm when Qian Renxue stands in front of Bibi Dong and Qian Nuo attacks them 187.
The crisis ends with Bibi Dong losing the Rakshasa Godhood, receiving the God King of Goodness inheritance, and reconciling with Qian Renxue. Relieved, Qian Daoliu accepts responsibility for his son’s wrongdoing and offers to withdraw from Bibi Dong’s presence, appearing only if the empire is endangered. She declines, saying that the past should remain in the past. Qian Nuo subsequently gives Qian Daoliu the Asura God Godhood, since Qian Renxue already holds the Angel Godhood 188.

- Trains Qian Renxue in combat for six years. His experience initially allows him to compete with her at equal cultivation, while defeating his full-strength self remains her Fifth Trial’s requirement 129 137.
- Applies pressure during the Sixth Trial, in which Qian Renxue must defeat the other Enshrined 137 138 148.
Asura God Godhood
Qian Nuo grants Qian Daoliu the Asura God Godhood after Bibi Dong’s reconciliation with Qian Renxue. The available account establishes the gift but does not describe its integration, associated techniques, or a resulting divine rank 188.
Equipment & Items
- Angel Set — Armor worn during his second attack on Qian Nuo. He later fights in an incomplete Angel Soul Bone set, explicitly missing one bone 13 126.
- Soul-testing ball — An Angel God relic capable of testing up to Level 100. Qian Nuo overloads and destroys it, then restores it with Reverse Cursed Technique 25.
- Replacement soul-testing orb — A newer, weaker blue orb that measures Soul Power only up to the Titled Douluo level. Qian Daoliu uses it to confirm Qian Renxue’s Level 40 cultivation 65 66.
- Soul Tool — Stores the testing ball 25.
- Seven awakening stones — Used to activate the twins’ Martial Soul awakening formation 12.
- Angel God Armor bones — Oversees Qian Renxue’s access to these inheritance items for the Heaven Dou infiltration. Their disguise ability can conceal her identity from anyone below the level of a descending deity 74 75.
- Asura God Godhood — Given to him by Qian Nuo after Qian Renxue has already inherited the Angel Godhood 188.
Relationships
- Qian Renxue — Granddaughter, pupil, and eventual Angel God successor. His devotion to her motivates both his protection of Bibi Dong and his eventual acceptance of Qian Nuo. He trains her for years, deliberately eases her later trials, and sacrifices himself to complete her inheritance. Before dying, he reveals the truth about her parents; after his resurrection, he remains involved in protecting her and the empire 5 20 28 137 148 149 174 177 187.
- Qian Nuo — Grandson. Initially targets him as an embodiment of evil; after defeat and mediation by Qian Renxue, their hostility eases into reluctant cooperation. Their reconciliation remains incomplete: renewed arguments lead to further attacks, and Qian Nuo explicitly rejects him as family. Qian Daoliu later resists his takeover of Spirit Hall, loses, and submits. Despite this history, Qian Nuo retrieves his soul, resurrects him, appoints him an elder, and grants him the Asura God Godhood 13 14 25 43 59 64 126 175 176 177 188.
- Qian Xunji — Son and former Pope. Opposes his attempts to kill Qian Nuo and is accidentally impaled while shielding the boy from him. Qian Daoliu later acknowledges his son’s wrongdoing toward Bibi Dong, conceals the true circumstances of his death, and finally discloses his abuse to Qian Renxue before sacrificing himself 3 13 19 20 174 188.
- Bibi Dong — His son’s killer and the twins’ mother. He conceals her crime and installs her as Pope for Qian Renxue’s sake, without relinquishing his own authority. He supports her Heaven Dou infiltration plan when it becomes relevant to Qian Renxue’s trial and later attempts to stop her rebellion. Following her acceptance of the God King of Goodness inheritance, he acknowledges Qian Xunji’s fault and offers to avoid her, but she declines in favor of leaving the past behind 19 20 38 73 74 75 187 188.
- Angel God / Qian Yuhan — Divine patron whose will he serves. He sacrifices himself for Qian Renxue’s inheritance and initially welcomes Qian Yuhan’s promise to make him an immortal divine servant. Qian Nuo forcibly frees his soul from this prospective service and destroys her intervening spiritual clone. After resurrection, Qian Daoliu identifies himself as no longer the Great Enshrined 13 28 174 175 176 177.
- Six Enshrined Douluo / Worships — Longstanding companions and subordinates. They assist in Qian Renxue’s trials and are distressed by his approaching sacrifice. He orders them to keep its necessity secret from her. They rejoice when Qian Nuo retrieves and resurrects him, though he asks them to stop addressing him as Great Enshrined 137 148 149 176 177.
- Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Spirit Hall Douluo whom he rescues from Bibi Dong; both know the true circumstances of Qian Xunji’s death 18 19.
- Tang Chen — A rival Peerless Douluo whose possible retaliation deters him from destroying the Clear Sky Sect 11.
- Chen Xin and his father — Chen Xin blames Qian Daoliu for his father’s death. Qian Daoliu explains that the elder swordsman challenged him three times and died after losing their final duel. Their confrontation resumes when Qian Daoliu’s soul returns to the Martial Emperor Palace, but Qian Nuo prevents Chen Xin from acting against him 176.
- Bo Saixi — The Sea God’s High Priestess and the object of his longstanding love. Immediately after his resurrection, he begs Qian Nuo to save her from the sacrifice required for Tang Xiao’s Sea God inheritance 177.
- Tang Xiao — The Clear Sky Sect survivor chosen as the Sea God’s inheritor. Qian Daoliu supports killing him to prevent Bo Saixi’s sacrificial death 177.
