Isaac folded the paper and placed it on his desk. "What's going on? Can you tell me?"
Andy waved his hand. "I don't know the specifics, it was Andy Number Two who encountered it."
"---- Andy Number Two?"
Andy nodded. "Oh, you don't know, there are several people named Andy in our area. To make it easier to distinguish them, they numbered them by age. I'm the eldest, he's the second, and so on up to the seventh. That way, no one gets confused."
"----Understood, please continue."
" Andy Number Two usually works at that nursing home. He went there this morning, but was turned away at the door. He said the people at the nursing home all looked strange, and there were several uniformed people standing at the door, like the City Police Force. He heard from the people around that the caregivers ran out early this morning saying there had been a murder, and many people had died."
Isaac nodded. If Andy Number Two's statement was accurate, then the matter had already alarmed the City Police Force, Carlo should receive the news soon.
However, the fact that the children came to report it shows that this intelligence network has been put to good use.
As he was pondering this, the knocking on the door rang again.
Someone else is coming?
Andy jumped off the chair. "I'll open the door."
"Um?"
"You were acting suspiciously when you opened the door just now; it must have been inconvenient for you to open it."
The kid is quite perceptive— Isaac followed behind Andy, just in case anything went wrong.
Andy opened the door, and there stood another boy, a little shorter Andy, also carrying a canvas bag.
When the child saw Andy, he immediately stood up straight. "Hello, Captain!"
Andy nodded. "Hello, James, what brings you here too?"
"Mr. Schuster sent me to deliver a message to Asa."
"Hey—" Andy scratched the back of his head, "Is it about Elias Nursing Home?"
James was taken aback. "How did you know?"
"I was just saying that."
James exclaimed, "What a coincidence!"
He followed Andy into the house, and just as familiarly took off his canvas bag, he also went into the storage room, and came out with a box of food in his hand.
He glanced at Andy's bag. " Andy, did you take this box?"
"No, I took a different box."
"That's good." James put the food into his bag.
Seeing this, Isaac roughly understood. "Mr. Schuster agreed to you taking the food?"
Andy nodded. "Yes, Mr. Schuster said that we can take food from his office, but only one box at a time. If he finds out we take more than one, we'll have to bring back a box."
----This rule does indeed seem to be something Carlo would have set.
James packed his things away and looked at Isaac: "Are you Asa?"
"Yes—actually, my name is Isaac, Isaac Lessing."
"Oh, okay, Asa." James cleared his throat. " Asa, a decree."
Isaac: "----?"
James tried to mimic someone's tone, saying, " Asa, something's come up at Elias Nursing Home. Since you're free anyway, go check it out. Use the map to find your way. Disguise yourself when you go. I had this kid bring some items; remember to bring the dice and the ring too. As for how to get in, figure that out yourself."
After saying that, James took out several items from his bag: a thick black fake beard, a dark overcoat, a bowler hat, and the twenty-sided die.
Isaac took the items: "What else did he say?"
James shook his head. "That's all, that's all."
"Good."
" Asa, should I show you the way?" Andy asked.
Isaac thought for a moment. After all, he was still a person under the surveillance of the Ghoul Cult, and it was best not to involve this child. "No need, thank you."
"Then let me show you the place."
Isaac took out the atlas, and Andy found the address of Elias Nursing Home on it, which wasn't too far from the office.
After giving directions, Andy slung his canvas bag back over his shoulder. "I'll be going now, I haven't finished delivering the newspapers yet."
James slung his bag over his shoulder and said, "I'm off too."
The two left one after the other. Isaac carried his things into the bathroom and tried on his fake beard in front of the mirror.
The beard was tied behind the ear with a thin string, and once it was on, the lower half of the entire face was almost completely covered by the thick beard.
He then put on an overcoat and a top hat, and at first glance, he was indeed unrecognizable.
Isaac confirmed that he had everything he needed: the dice, the revolver, and the ring. As for the cane, since this was a disguise, he decided not to bring it.
After leaving the house, he walked east along the road for two blocks. The houses on both sides of the street where the nursing home was located were all similar in style, with gray brick facades, narrow front yards, and iron gates that were mostly closed.
After walking a short distance down the street, Isaac saw a building that was taller and had a larger yard than the surrounding buildings. The front entrance was cordoned off, and two City Police Force officers were standing at the door.
Isaac didn't slow down, maintaining his original pace as he walked past the nursing home. He glanced around to make sure no one was watching him before turning into an alley.
He leaned against the wall, pondering his next move.
Carlo's message, "Figure out how to get in yourself," actually indicates that he shouldn't try to get in through normal means, such as simply walking over, showing his identification, and getting the City Police Force to let him in. This is clearly also to maintain the persona of " the Joint Investigation Bureau defector."
As Isaac was pondering this, he suddenly felt a chill, as if he were being watched by something.
His expression remained unchanged as he pulled his hat down slightly.
This feeling of being watched—came from the wall.
If it wasn't this wall observing him, then something else was watching him remotely through some special means.
And that direction is exactly where the nursing home is located, so it seems there's something inside the nursing home?
Isaac walked towards the other end of the alley. Once out of the alley, he had circled around to the back of this row of buildings, where a row of brick walls stretched out and trash cans were arranged along the base of the walls.
Isaac confirmed that no one was passing by the back door, and strode over. The back door was an old tin door. He gripped the handle and tried to pull it, but the door didn't budge.
Seeing this, he simply pulled out the twenty-sided die. "Boss, requesting backup."
A few breaths later, the Check Domain began.
"Hey, Asa, you're applying for project support now? As your reliable boss, I should definitely do something about it."
"Can Isaac Lessing's charm persuade this door to open? He has already succeeded once before, and within the door's social circle, Isaac Lessing is already a renowned handsome young man. The difficulty of the check is reduced, check value is 60, charm bonus is 14, final value is 74."
What does it mean to be famous in a door's social circle? Doors don't actually chat with other doors. -- Isaac was speechless.
The phantom images of two ten-sided dice appeared before my eyes, spun, and then stopped.
78, Verification failed.
The door glanced at Isaac; it wasn't that appealing. It wasn't just any door.
"Sigh, looks like this door won't listen to your tricks, Asa."
