Seeing that the second shot also missed, the figure outside the window did not fire a third shot and turned to run.

Carlo walked to the window, Isaac also glanced out the window. "Boss, should we give chase?"

"Of course, you think you can run away after offending the abbot? But let's see if we can save some energy first."

Isaac put aside his question about what the abbot was for the moment, and saw Carlo take out a die. "The fleeing gunman cannot stray more than 100 meters from his target. Check value 30."

7. Verification successful.

"Alright, you can't escape now."

Isaac looked out the window and saw that the gunman had just climbed over the fence and run a short distance when he seemed to hit an invisible wall and paused for a moment.

The gunman froze, then tried to take a few more steps forward, but still couldn't get out of that area.

"There's no escape, let's go."

Isaac climbed out the window, and the gunman circled near that invisible boundary. When he saw Isaac come out of the house, he raised his gun and fired.

This time, there was no need to check the dodge, as Isaac was already prepared and dodged behind the goalpost.

However, this time the unaimed bullets didn't hit his original spot; they only struck the grass.

The surrounding villas had all turned on their lights, and voices could be heard. The gunshots had startled the residents, and several people were peering out of their windows. Whistles could also be heard in the distance, indicating that the patrol officers who had heard about the situation had reacted.

The gunman stood on the street, pursued by gunmen behind him, surrounded by onlookers in front, and unable to escape. He radiated despair.

The whistle sounded closer at the street corner, and two police officers with lanterns and guns emerged from around the corner. One of them raised his lantern and shouted at the gunman, "Don't move! Put your gun down!"

The gunman glanced around, then finally gave up resisting, placing the gun at his feet, raising his hands, and bending his knees.

Carlo strolled out and gestured with his chin toward the two patrol officers. "You can take care of the person for now. There's another person inside who needs to be taken away, as well as a walking corpse. The Joint Investigation Bureau will come to collect them later."

The patrol officer, using the lamplight to see Carlo's mask clearly, paused, thinking to himself that this man looked even more like a robber than the previous one, "Someone from the Joint Investigation Bureau?"

" Section Nine, Schuster." Carlo pulled out his ID and flashed it.

The patrol officers nodded, one of them went forward to handcuff the gunman, and the other followed him toward the villa's gate.

Carlo returned to the house. Sherwood, who had been pinned to the corner of the living room by Carlo, had been listening to the fighting behind him without daring to move. Now, hearing the commotion, he slowly turned his head, his forehead red.

He saw Isaac return to the living room, and then Carlo enter with the patrol officers. His lips moved, but he couldn't muster his strength any longer.

Carlo knelt down in front of him and pulled his collar straight. "Look, that guy outside who fired the shot, that walker who just broke in, he was after you."

"What's the meaning..."

"It means someone wants you dead," Carlo said. "Think carefully, have you offended anyone recently, or learned anything you shouldn't know?"

Sherwood's eyes were unfocused as he rummaged through memories from the past few months.

He had attended several gatherings and heard the man who called himself " Bachelor " talk about the Ring of Morzul. He had also privately mentioned to two or three people that he was interested in acquiring a " Relic of the gods."

Apart from that, it was just business dealings, nothing that warranted the death penalty...

"I... I can't think of anything. A business rival wouldn't hire someone to shoot, would they? And the people at the rally... no one asks who each other is, there's no reason for them to kill me."

"Then let's go back to that ring," Carlo said.

"Ring..."

"You just bought this ring and then you were attacked. It's hard not to suspect that those people, like us, were targeting you because of this ring." Carlo stood up. "Now just stay here and wait for the Joint Investigation Bureau to take over."

He turned to Isaac: "Go find the next one, time's a bit tight."

"That seller?"

"Judging from this attack, the seller might not be so safe either. He might be the one who planned the attack, or he might be on his way to being attacked himself."

Baker returned home and breathed a long sigh of relief.

Finally, I managed to sell that ring.

The ring sat on the black market for a few days, attracting many inquiries, but those who were skeptical about eternal youth or backed out as soon as they heard "a corpse is required."

I finally made a move tonight, although the final price was much lower than I expected.

He rubbed his temples, then couldn't help but think about how he ended up with the ring.

Baker was a pawnshop owner. One month ago, one evening, a man walked into his pawnshop.

After entering, the man went straight to the counter, took out a small wooden box, and placed it on the counter. "I want to pawn something to get some money."

Baker opened the wooden box, and a dark silver ring lay on the velvet lining. Having been in the pawnshop business for over a decade, he had a good eye; the metal of this ring was of good quality, the carving was exquisite, and the pattern was not a style commonly seen locally, so it certainly looked quite old.

He picked up the ring, examined it for a moment, and said, "It's a bit old, but not exactly a rare treasure. How much do you want to pawn it for?"

The man lowered his voice. "This is more than just an antique; it's a Wonder."

Baker raised an eyelid, not taking it too seriously.

People who come to the pawnshop claiming their items are Wonder or have some other extravagant claims are common occurrences. Nine times out of ten, they're trying to inflate the valuation; as for the authenticity, just ignore it.

He put the ring back in the box and asked, "Well, Wonder. What are its effects?"

"This is from the Ghoul Cult, related to the ' God of Decay, ' Morzul. It can keep the wearer forever young, but it requires a corpse to maintain its effect..." the man explained.

Baker made a mental note of it; this guy had done his homework quite well, even coming up with such an obscure name as " Morzul ".

If it were truly as miraculous as this man claims, would it even be necessary for him to pawn his goods at his pawnshop?

He listened absentmindedly, even yawning, and finally, after the man finished speaking, he said, "Sir, I can't verify what you've said. I can only give you an estimate based on the market price of antiques."

"No problem, £20, I'll be back to redeem it within two weeks."

Twenty pounds, he knew it wasn't worth much, yet he called it a Wonder... Baker sneered inwardly.

He examined the ring again carefully. Even if it wasn't anything Wonder, judging by its craftsmanship and age, he wouldn't lose too much if the other party didn't come to redeem it.

"Ten pounds, this isn't rare."

"... OK."

Baker wrote out the pawn ticket, counted out 10 pounds, and pushed it, along with the ticket, in front of the man. "Half a month. If you don't redeem it by then, the item is mine."

The man took the money, didn't count it, put it in his pocket, and turned to leave.

Baker watched him leave, then looked down at the ring in the wooden box, a sudden unease creeping into his heart.

The man agreed too readily, barely even discussing the price, as if he was eager to get rid of the item.

Then, half a month passed, and the person didn't return.
