Background / History

Hatching and Early Training

Luo Yu hatched July from an Earth Penguin egg using his Beast-Taming Ability. When Luo Yu subsequently collapsed from exhaustion after discovering his Soul Talent, the chick slept beside him. Luo Yu named him July the following day and postponed formal training while attending to his breeding qualification assessment 6.

Developing Walking Volcano required July to sense the earth veins and convert their power into heat. Luo Yu kept him underground for extended periods and heated the surrounding ground with a bonfire and concentrating mirrors. During an early attempt to cool off, July jumped into the Ink Fish pond and had to be rescued from drowning 14.

Luo Yu supplemented this training with Honey Water Bee stings that enhanced July’s strength, defense, senses, and life energy. Suitable food was initially difficult to obtain on an island dominated by water-element resources; earth loaches were one of the few earth-element foods Luo Yu could find for him 14 18 37 67.

Search for an Evolution Route

July initially failed to react to the Ancient Grotto’s special rock. Comparing him with an Azure Terror Bird that had successfully evolved there, Luo Yu identified rock affinity as the likely missing requirement: Walking Volcano supplied earth and fire power, but did not itself grant rock affinity 40.

Luo Yu therefore planned a rock-element dependent to strengthen July’s compatibility with the Ancient Evolution Stone. He selected Dominion and Rock Element Affinity for its core Ink Fish, later refining the supporting talent plan to include Eight-Sword Style and Coordination Master 46 94 97 103.

July also experienced dreams connected to ancient ley-line memories, including a vision of an enormous lava-armored dinosaur. An Yao helped him enter these dreams deliberately to train his willpower, though July preferred using the opportunity to fish for dinosaurs 46 97 98.

Two-Stage Evolution

Luo Yu’s completed experiment first evolved July’s dependent into a Rock Devil Beast. Its rock-element bloodline power flowed back through their contract and transformed July into a Gem Penguin. Unlike earlier dependent-evolution subjects, the Rock Devil Beast remained calm and accepted July’s authority 132 133.

Luo Yu then brought July to the Ancient Grotto for a second evolution. Contact with the Ancient Evolution Stone cracked the previously reusable stone and transformed July into a Lava Tyrannosaurus. The resulting heat scorched the surrounding ground, and nearby experimental beasts hid from his presence 133.

Appearance

• Earth Penguin: A small, round penguin with down, flipper-like wings, and a distinctive waddling gait. His size made him a difficult target in his battle against the Cold Mist Lizard 7 27 109.
• Gem Penguin: Smaller than his pre-evolution body, resembling his newly hatched self. His most conspicuous change is a pair of brilliant, gemstone-like eyes rather than visible rock armor 133.
• Lava Tyrannosaurus: A roughly six-meter-tall, dinosaur-shaped lava creature with a pitch-black body, platinum-colored flame patterns, dark spikes along his shoulders and back, thick arms, sharp claws, and spark-like eyes. His footsteps leave flowing magma 133.
• Dormant Volcano form: Returns to his small penguin appearance while retaining part of his evolved strength 134.

Personality

July is intelligent and cautious rather than recklessly fearless. His Intelligence talent helps him recognize differences in strength, making strategic retreat his instinctive response to an overwhelming enemy. Luo Yu consequently trains both his confidence and his willpower rather than relying on talent alone 96.

Fishing is his overriding passion. Slippery loaches frustrate him enough to disrupt his concentration during training, while the prospect of acquiring a living fishing rod gives him the resolve to withstand monarch pressure. Even after becoming a giant lava creature, his immediate concern is whether he can still fish from a boat 15 103 109 134.

Repeated enhancement stings leave him frightened of Honey Water Bees, needles, and eventually the Bee Empress herself. Fishing becomes his main source of relief from the treatment schedule. He is delighted when most enhancement needles cease to benefit him after evolution 60 67 142.

Walking Volcano

A top-tier talent that connects July to the earth veins and allows him to convert their power into extreme heat 14 58.

• Produces high temperatures without requiring visible flames 109.
• Supports geothermal attacks, exceptional fire resistance, and unusually powerful applications of Dig 58 109.
• Becomes substantially more effective after he passes level 10 109.
• After evolution, allows him to draw on an undersea volcano, destroy a zombie horde, and raise a miniature island 138.

Terrain Manipulation

July uses earth power to control the battlefield rather than simply burrowing 27 109.

• Dig / Ground Collapse: Opens pits beneath enemies, destabilizes their footing, and traps them underground. During his Water Devil Beast spar, he creates a pit ten meters across 27 109.
• Geothermal pits: Adds intense heat to the bottom of a pit, damaging trapped opponents 109.
• Raised platforms: Creates elevated ground to fight over water or escape flooding 70 71 109.
• Drainage: Opens additional pits to drain an opponent’s ink sea underground 109.
• Sword of the Earth: Becomes one of his listed species abilities after evolving into a Gem Penguin 133.

Heat and Magma Techniques

July’s fire techniques develop from his conversion of earth-vein power into heat 14 37.

• Blazing Blade: Sweeps his wings to release scorching heat. Improved physical toughness allows him to generate a stronger outward heat wave 37.
• Heat Breath: Continuously heats an area or trapped opponent 53 54.
• Barbecue Grill: Combines a pit with Heat Breath to roast an enemy that cannot escape. Repeating the process against the Rock Goat is also called Twice-Cooked Pork 53 54.
• Power of Magma: Creates and launches magma; he can scatter a large mass into a shower of projectiles 54 109.
• Scorching Sun: Summons a high-temperature fireball resembling the sun. It can disperse torrential rain, dry lakes, and reduce nearby water-element concentration 133.

Before evolution, repeated magma use overloaded his Common Species body even when he still had stamina. His Lava Tyrannosaurus constitution makes contact with magma feel as comfortable as a hot spring 97 134.

Gravity Manipulation

July learns to manipulate gravity after sensing the power of Sinking Stones in a specialized training room 122 123.

• First uses it to force a fish-stealing seabird into the sea 123.
• Significantly improves his ability to defeat Water Devil Beasts on land 128.
• Allows him to suppress such opponents even in shallow water 131.
• Becomes the species ability Gravity after his Gem Penguin evolution 133.

Accumulation and Fishing Technique

Accumulation is a senior-level talent acquired as a Gem Penguin. It converts knowledge and techniques accumulated before evolution into species abilities with higher ceilings 133.

• Converts Ground Collapse, Power of Magma, Sword of the Earth, Gravity, and Fishing Technique into his Gem Penguin species repertoire 133.
• Preserves his extensive fishing experience as an actual species ability, rather than merely a hobby 133 135.
• His fishing feats include hauling up a young Abyss-Eroding Killer Whale, collecting zombie crystal cores with his hook, and retrieving a Zombie King Beast’s core 86 105 138.

Volcano Body

A senior-level talent that gives July three functional forms 133 134.

In a two-day comparison, July accumulated approximately 10% eruption power per day both on junk food and on senior-level earth, rock, and fire supplements. Better nutrition did not accelerate charging in that experiment 142.

Resistance and Enhanced Senses

• Water Element Immunity: Nullifies water-element damage that does not exceed July’s own level. Stronger water attacks can still be weakened rather than completely negated 133 136.
• Heat-based poison resistance: High temperatures deactivate Honey Water Bee venom and small quantities of the Poison King Water Devil Beast’s ink poison 18 109.
• Enhanced dynamic vision: Five Senses Enhancement stings let him perceive and evade the Cold Mist Lizard’s mist arrows with minimal movement 27.
• Perception limits: Obstructed sightlines and noise from waves, wind, and fighting can still conceal enemies from him 106.
• Pre-evolution flooding vulnerability: A large ink sea could cool him faster than he could evaporate it, allowing poison to take effect or drowning him outright 109.

Bloodline Dependent

July’s heterogeneity allows him to maintain a bloodline contract with an Ink Fish, later evolved into a Rock Devil Beast 103 132.

• Can draw on his dependent’s abilities, first demonstrated through Ink Spray 103.
• Receives bloodline changes from the dependent’s evolution, enabling his own transformation into a Gem Penguin 133.
• Uses the evolved dependent as a shapeshifting fishing rod 135.
