As they watched the demons gathering around them, Jarod and Naisha both wore looks of resolve. They were prepared to die fighting here.

"Pathetic insects, why resist? Wouldn't it be better to join the Burning Legion like your companions and receive its great gift?" the Eredar Warlock leading them said with a smile.

"Join the Legion? You want us to become monsters like you?" Jarod retorted.

"Give up your appearance and gain immense power. What a worthwhile bargain!" the Eredar Warlock said, touching his features, twisted by the Fel power he had accepted.

"I will never join the Burning Legion! Even if I die in battle, I'll die as a Night Elf!" Naisha roared.

"I admire your resolve, but I don't believe you can survive against us."

"Look around. Your soldiers and both of you are already at the end of your strength."

Although the members of the Resistance were strong-willed, their physical exhaustion kept them from reacting in time. Many Warriors had been killed by demons because of this.

"Even so, we will never surrender!" Jarod roared. Gripping his sword tightly, he charged at the Eredar Warlock in the lead.

Naisha, beside him, charged alongside Jarod, moonblade in hand.

"Your efforts are useless!" The Eredar Warlock casually unleashed two Fel spells, which struck Jarod and Naisha head-on.

In an instant, Jarod and Naisha were sent flying backward and slammed into the ground.

"Ah, that really hurts," Jarod said to Naisha beside him as he lay on the ground.

Naisha did not answer, but the look on her face told Jarod that she was badly hurt as well.

The two lay on the ground, watching the demons draw closer, without the slightest hint of retreat in their eyes.

They closed their eyes and waited for the end.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! Several fire elemental spells crashed into the ranks of the demon coalition. These fire spells were even more powerful than usual, and even the ground beneath the demons' feet had been scorched into crystal.

A force clad in silver-white armor appeared behind the demon coalition. The silver-armored troops cut through the demons as easily as chopping vegetables.

The Fel Reavers that had given Jarod and Naisha so much trouble received special attention from the silver-armored force's spellcasters. Four or five spellcasters gathered together and cast an enormous Arcane spell.

Arcane energy brought together the power of four or five spellcasters, and a massive Arcane orb slammed straight into a Fel Reaver's head.

Boom! The Fel Reaver could not resist at all and could only watch as the Arcane spell destroyed him.

The remaining Fel Reavers were all destroyed by the silver-armored troops in the same way.

"Looks like I'm not too late," Snyder said, coming over to Jarod and Naisha after casting the fire elemental spells.

Snyder had worried that the force Jarod led might not be able to complete the mission even with the reinforcements under Naisha, so he had brought part of the Hand of the Bright Moon to help them.

"Brother-in-law, if you'd come any later, you wouldn't have seen us again." Seeing that it was Snyder, Jarod relaxed, his wildly pounding heart settling down.

Seeing the miserable state the two were in, Snyder immediately cast a Healing Totem. Its power healed Jarod and Naisha's wounds, and before long, they had mostly recovered.

"Thank you for your help, Lord Snyder," Naisha hurriedly said as she felt her injuries heal.

"All right, save your thanks for later. Let's deal with these demons first," Snyder said.

Elemental patterns appeared on Snyder's body. The elemental power within him began to increase his strength, and the patterns began to manifest on his body, though no one else could see them because of his armor.

Snyder picked up an ordinary elven longsword, and elemental power began to coil around its blade. Empowered by the elements, the blade became much more powerful, but Snyder felt feedback from the elements, which told him that the sword's material was poor and could not withstand their power.

I'll have to finish this quickly, Snyder thought.

Snyder charged into the demons, his blade dancing in his hand. Snyder's fighting was an art; every movement and every sword technique was exceptionally graceful.

Yet its power had not diminished in the slightest. Every strike Snyder made was deadly, and many demons fell beneath his sword.

Seeing how formidable Snyder was, the remaining members of the demon coalition gathered together, preparing to deal with him as a group.

The other demons all drove back their opponents and gathered together.

The remaining Eredar Warlocks cast Demon Shield one after another, then began joining forces to cast Finger of Agony.

The Felguards gathered around the Eredar Warlocks preparing their spell, while the Fel Reavers had all been dealt with by the Hand of the Bright Moon that Snyder had brought. The shattered mechanical parts on the field were the traces they had left behind.

Seeing the demons casting their spell, Snyder stopped as well. Snyder understood that in the face of absolute strength, all resistance was futile.

The strength of this demon force was actually ordinary. The only reason Jarod and Naisha had failed to defeat them was that they had just been through several battles and had nearly exhausted their stamina and mana.

"Feel the Burning Legion's wrath!" the Eredar Warlocks roared, and a dark red beam of energy shot toward Snyder.

Although Finger of Agony was not as powerful as Finger of Death, for an ordinary expert...

Snyder cast an earth elemental spell, summoning an earthen wall. But the wall Snyder summoned was different: it was filled with elemental power.

Elemental power had created it, making it exceptionally sturdy. Finger of Agony struck it with a boom, sending dust flying everywhere.

When the dust settled, the earthen wall was still intact, apart from a huge crack in its center.

Seeing that their attack had failed, the demons could not help but be shocked. Finger of Agony, which had carried all before it in other worlds, had met a tough opponent here.

Snyder would not let this opportunity pass. While the demons were still stunned,

He used Blink to appear in their midst. Then a tremendous surge of fire elemental power erupted from Snyder's body, and the flames purified the demons completely.

When it was over, Snyder patted out the little flames still burning on his body and walked over to Jarod and Naisha.

The two were shocked by what Snyder had done. They had never seen anyone kill enemies like that.

"All right, gather the troops, treat the wounded, and return to the fortress to rest," Snyder ordered before going to check on the other soldiers.

"By the way, what's your name?" Jarod asked.

"Naisha. And you?"

"Jarod. Nice to meet you."

As Naisha finished recalling the scene of her first meeting with Jarod, a smile appeared on her lips.

"Do you remember the first time we met?" Naisha asked.

"Phew, phew, phew."

The answer she expected did not come. Instead, she heard snoring.

Naisha looked toward the sound and saw Jarod lying on the ground, already asleep. Looking at him, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Oh, well, I'll forgive him this time. He did just get back, she thought.

Worried that Jarod might not sleep comfortably, Naisha thoughtfully let him rest his head on her thigh.

But where she could not see, the corners of Jarod's mouth rose slightly.
