Back in Zhou City, he learned that the Water Cloud Sect had imprisoned Zhao Bo and others, then forced his way into its black market stronghold to demand their release.
Gu Chen rescued his allies, defended Black Wind Hall from the Liu Family, and killed the Steel Tremor Sect and Wuji Manor leaders who challenged him. After breaking through to the middle Revolving Illumination Realm, he learned more about the powers of the Land of Heaven and Earth and heard that his enemies were leaving Zhou City.
Gu Chen protected Qianqian from the Zhao Family, then traveled to Leisurely Mountain for the Aristocratic Family Assembly. There, he clashed with young martial artists and reunited with Tang Miaomiao, whose silence about his outrageous claim left the crowd furious.
Gu Chen fought his way to Starfall Cliff, where Zhuge Wangyue barred him from competing and forced him to flee. He took Zhuge Kun as a disciple, refined Yellow Rock Pills, and returned to Zhou City after learning Zhao Haiqing had been captured, confronting the Su and Qian Families at their villa.
Gu Chen rescued Su Qingqing and Zhao Haiqing, then left Zhou City in Su Qingqing’s hands and traveled to Shangjing. There he forced the Liu Family to submit and began a life-and-death duel with Wei Aozhong, who unleashed sword qi as Gu Chen waited unmoving.
Gu Chen subdued rival sects, rescued Xiao Zhuxin, and claimed Wuji Manor’s hidden spirit-growing bottle before helping Gu Beichi reach the Revolving Illumination Realm. The arc ended with Gu Beichi confronting Gu Changfeng at the Gu Family’s birthday celebration and accusing him of framing him over his father’s death.
Gu Chen and Gu Beichi confronted Gu Changfeng and exposed his crimes, ending with Gu Beichi set to lead the Gu Family. After learning more about his mother’s connection to the Mystery Gate, Gu Chen headed to the Situ Clan to settle another score.
After Gu Huan abducted Gu Beichi and Zhao Bo into the Land of Heaven and Earth, Gu Chen pursued them and reached the Heaven and Earth Palace. There, he defeated Gu Mingheng’s Dragon Ranking claim, climbed to thirty-fifth place, and advanced his cultivation, while an unseen force stopped Gu Muyu’s attack.
Gu Chen defeated Gu Mingheng and Gu Muyu, escaped the aristocratic families pursuing his cultivation method, and fought his way through the Heaven and Earth Forest. After learning more about Dragon Spine Mountain from Nan Wuhen, he entered the range and reached its foot while searching for what was drawing him there.
