The magic array of White Stone Mountain Castle was clearly unable to deflect the direct impact of the Deathgod Golem. The layer of Black Yu covering its exterior was shattered by the impact, revealing the gray metal and complex magic array runes inside.
Just as the Fiend were preparing for their second attack, a large hole suddenly burst open in the gray metal wall, and a bolt of purple lightning shot out. The two top-grade puppets that were first hit by the lightning were directly struck by it and instantly exploded amidst violent tremors.
The Fiend, however, were prepared and were not struck by the lightning.
"Fly over there!" the Four Star Fiend, skilled in magic arrays, transmitted telepathically.
This Four Star Fiend, named Olsen, had long ago determined that the White Stone Mountain Castle could not accommodate too many large magic arrays, since magic array runes and energy crystals could not be changed in size at will like Deity-level body.
Besides the outer defensive array, there is at most one additional offensive array. As for the remaining space, it is nothing more than some small, localized defensive arrays.
Seeing that the enemy's offensive magic array had been activated, the fifteen Highgod Fiend took advantage of the gap in charging up their energy and used the remaining Deathgod Golem as shields to fly along the city wall.
Instead of following the Highgod in their attack, the Midgod continued to destroy the city walls. According to Olsen, there should be some beneficial magic arrays inside the castle, and the best way to disable them was to simply demolish the city walls that served as the carriers of these magic arrays.
The sounds of battle echoed continuously within the castle.
The Fiend outside the city walls were unaware of the situation inside; all they could do was dismantle the walls as quickly as possible.
As the only Highgod present, Delisha's destructive power over the city walls was greater.
The fierce attack of more than three hundred Fiend caused the gray-white inner wall to collapse and create a huge gap in less than five minutes.
As parts of the wall collapsed, the magical runes on the remaining walls on both sides quickly dimmed, revealing the figures of fifteen Highgod.
The battle was far more brutal than expected. The Deathgod Golem, which had been used as a shield, had all been reduced to a pile of junk and fell to the ground. Of the original fifteen Highgod, two had died in just five minutes.
"Come and help!" Olsen, Highgod who was proficient in magic arrays, was protected by his companions.
Looking across, twenty Highgod formed a semi-encirclement, cornering the Fiend that had suddenly broken in; while there were only a little over five hundred Midgod, a small number compared to the high- Midgod Highgod; and the Lowgod were either absent or hiding.
Judging from the ratio of Highgod to Midgod, this so-called Bogdan Clan is clearly not a normal family. It is estimated that the Highgod here have been controlled by some powerful figure using Soul Seed and disguised as a family to create chaos near Falling Rain City.
Three hundred Midgod Fiend launched a long-range volley at the twenty Highgod. Even Five-Star Fiend could not completely ignore such an attack.
Even One-Star Fiend is a top-tier Midgod, and the twenty Highgod on the other side could only temporarily evade the numerous attacks.
The remaining thirteen Fiend quickly retreated a bit and occupied the breach in the city wall.
"We were careless. There were twenty-three Highgod inside, plus the buffing magic array and more than five hundred Midgod. Our Deathgod Golem was destroyed in one go, and two of us died." One of the outspoken Four Star Fiend said indignantly.
Jason glanced around and noticed that Simoni, whom he had met on the Metallic Airship, was no longer there.
"Miss Delisha, I'll offer thirty million Nether Stone in exchange for your participation in this battle." The leader, Belding, looked at Delisha.
Delisha did not immediately attack the Highgod inside the castle, but instead mingled with the Midgod, preparing for defense using the fortifications.
"Okay!" Delisha flew into the opposing team's formation.
Olsen, an expert in magic arrays, surveyed the surrounding city walls. "Highgod, hold this place for now. Midgod, demolish the walls next to you, demolish as many as you can!"
The Midgod Fiend, of course, wouldn't object to something without risk, and would simply demolish it violently right in front of the other party.
Surprisingly, the Bogdan Clan did not react at all to the demolition of the castle's outer walls, but instead continued to harass them with ranged attacks, without taking any effective countermeasures.
The Highgod, led by Belding and Kuxilai, are taking advantage of this time to recover.
The Deity-level Divine Power of gods is stored in their Divine Spark. Deity-level of the same level have the same absorption rate and storage capacity for Divine Power. The only difference lies in the purity of the Divine Power.
The battle just now was too intense, and everyone consumed too much Divine Power. Although they were not completely Divine Power, it was clear that the battle to come would be a fierce one.
Just as the battle reached a stalemate, Belding's Soul Transmission resounded in the minds of the Fiend present. "Judging from their behavior, they have no intention of leaving alive. I suspect that at least these twenty Highgod have been controlled by the Soul Seed. In the upcoming battle, everyone should not be reckless. Try to secure victory first before considering the mission. In addition, I promise to do my best to help everyone complete the mission after the battle of the Highgod is over."
Midgod mingles in the Netherworld is certainly not a saint, but circumstances dictate that the One-Star Fiend have no choice but to comply with the proposal of a Five-Star Fiend.
Many people thought they could just give up on the mission; it was just a mission to upgrade Two-Star Fiend. Before Fiend is promoted to four stars, the missions aren't too difficult. This mission was difficult only because it was caught up in the power struggle between major forces, an undeserved misfortune.
With a deafening roar, one side of the castle's outer wall, which was originally square, completely collapsed.
As Olsen had predicted, the initial offensive magic array did not reactivate during this period. It was clear that after the outer walls were destroyed, the large magic arrays inside the castle were unusable, and only the small, beneficial magic arrays placed inside could still function.
Belding transmitted his thoughts telepathically. "Advance layer by layer, destroying buildings along the way. Don't be reckless; try to force the enemy out of the castle from the other side."
However, this strategy was not very effective because the difference in numbers between the two sides was not significant. Of course, the Fiend were definitely stronger individually, but the Bogdan Clan relied on some small enhancement arrays within their ranks to launch ranged attacks and constantly harass the Fiend of Falling Rain City, making it difficult for the Fiend to exert their full strength.
Kuxilai's voice rang out. "Let the Highgod lead the assault. We are Fiend, not the Northbone Prefecture Army; we can't handle this kind of battle!"
Kuxilai's opinion was endorsed by most of the Highgod Fiend, while it also dampened the spirits of the Midgod Fiend present.
They were tasked with becoming Two-Star Fiend, and seeing so many Highgod involved, they thought they could take advantage of the situation. But they didn't want to be pushed to the front lines as cannon fodder!
Belding sighed. Unlike the other Highgod and Fiend, as the city lord's confidant and also responsible for part of the Falling Rain City's defense, he was used to dealing with the city's defense forces. This was why he had been avoiding rash actions and focusing on strategy since the mission began.
But given the current situation, it's clear that Kuxilai right.
Seeing that most of the Highgod agreed, Belding had no choice but to compromise. "Kuxilai a team to hold off the enemy chieftain, while the other Highgod will form pairs and lead the Midgod to charge in."
The Highgod Fiend quickly formed pairs, while the Midgod were reluctantly forced into six groups.
With Delisha there, Jason was naturally in the same group as her.
Delisha telepathically told Jason, "Don't push yourself too hard. If things get really bad, we can just abandon the mission and wait until things calm down around Falling Rain City in a few years before taking on another one."
"Good!"
