Violent Intimidation on the Golf Course (Part 2)
The freckled caddie's screams still trembled and echoed in the air, like the dying cry of a bird whose neck had been snapped, piercing everyone's eardrums and nerves.
He clutched his twisted, bloodied right hand, curled up on the lush green grass, his body convulsing and twitching violently from the excruciating pain. Tears and snot streamed down his face, and he gasped for breath, unable to even utter a complete scream. Large patches of blood soaked through the sleeves of his khaki uniform, spreading across the grass and emitting a strong, metallic smell.
Time seemed to freeze instantly in the face of this sudden, bloody violence.
Mike Anderson's face drained of all color, turning deathly pale. His lips trembled slightly, and his blue eyes behind his sunglasses were filled with horror, disbelief, and a deep-seated fear that he himself was unaware of. He looked at the caddie groaning on the ground, then at Lin Feng, who held the blood-dripping club with a terrifyingly calm expression, his mind blank.
He thought Lin Feng was just a boorish, unruly nouveau riche, at most a bit ruthless. But he never expected that the other party would retaliate so cruelly and undisguisedly over a trivial sneer and a stupid grimac! This wasn't retaliation at all; it was the prelude to a massacre! It was a wild beast marking its territory and showing its fangs!
Mike's two new bodyguards reacted faster than him. Almost the instant the scream rang out, their muscles tensed, their right hands flashed to their holsters, and their bodies turned slightly to the side, assuming a standard alert and combat stance.
Their eyes, sharp as eagles, were fixed on Lin Feng, and K and Lü Yi, who stood like Rock on either side of him. At the employer's command, or if the other side made any further threatening moves, they would not hesitate to draw their guns and fire.
However, K and Lü Yi reacted even faster, or rather, they were prepared.
The instant the bodyguard's hand touched the holster, K's icy gaze, like a tangible blade, instantly pierced one of them. He didn't draw his gun, but leaned forward slightly, his right thumb silently opening the hidden latch of the holster at his waist. In just a fraction of a second, the silenced Glock would be in his hand, delivering a fatal blow. His eyes conveyed the unmistakable message: Move, or die.
Lü Yi was even more direct. He grinned, revealing a set of white teeth, a smile filled with undisguised ferocity and excitement. His hands were in his pockets, but his body was slightly turned towards another bodyguard, seemingly casual, but in reality, he blocked the other's best shooting angle and movement route. He was like a hyena eyeing its prey, ready to pounce and tear it apart at any moment.
The atmosphere was extremely tense amidst the screams. The air was thick with the smell of blood, fear, and the imminent threat of death.
The remaining three caddies and the foreman were terrified, huddled together, trembling like leaves, too afraid to even breathe, let alone go to their aid or make a sound. The way they looked at Lin Feng was as if they were looking at a demon crawling out of hell.
Lin Feng seemed oblivious to the tense atmosphere around him and the pitiful wounded on the ground. He still held the blood-stained golf club, his gaze calmly fixed on the caddie with thick black hair, whose face was now ashen, whose legs were trembling so badly he could barely stand, and whose crotch was even soaked with sweat.
"Your turn," Lin Feng repeated, his tone still calm, as if asking someone to hand him a glass of water. "Hold out your hand, like he did. The ball, I have it."
He bent down and picked up a brand-new white golf ball from the bag, tossing it in his hand.
The sturdy, black-haired caddie shook his head violently, tears and snot streaming down his face. A desperate, muffled sob escaped his throat as he desperately tried to shrink back, crashing into the cart behind him with a loud bang. The way he looked at Lin Feng was as if he were looking at a death knell.
"Mr. Lin... Mr. Lin!" Mike finally recovered from the immense shock and fear. His voice was dry and hoarse, trembling noticeably, as he tried to stop this madness. "This... this isn't necessary! He's just a child who doesn't know any better! It was just a joke! I apologize on his behalf! I'll compensate you! Any amount of money! Please... please stop..."
He was incoherent, cold sweat pouring down his forehead. He wasn't sympathizing with the caddie; he was terrified! The absolute, callous ruthlessness and arbitrary violence Lin Feng was displaying made him truly feel the threat of death! If Lin Feng could cripple a caddie's hand just because of a funny face, what if next time, for saying something wrong or making a wrong expression, he would...?
"A joke?" Lin Feng turned to look at Mike, raising an eyebrow as if he had heard something amusing. "Mike, do you think this is a joke?"
He pointed to the freckled caddie groaning in pain on the ground, then to the dark-haired caddie who was so frightened he almost lost control of his bladder.
"What they did to me was a joke. What I'm doing to them now is also a joke." Lin Feng's tone was calm, as if stating a simple logic, "It's normal for friends to joke around, right?"
He emphasized the word "friends," looking calmly at Mike.
Mike froze, a chill running down his spine! He understood Lin Feng's unspoken message: If you're my "friend," then this is a "joke." If you're not...
He had no doubt that if he showed any non-cooperation or tried to obstruct him at this moment, Lin Feng would not hesitate to include him in this "joke"! Look at those two menacing followers, look at that bloody example on the ground!
"It's... it's a joke..." Mike almost instinctively forced the words out, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace. "It's just friends... joking around, to lighten the mood..."
"That's right." Lin Feng nodded, seemingly satisfied with Mike's "understanding." Then, he looked back at the sturdy, dark-haired caddie, his "gentleness" vanishing instantly, leaving only a cold command:
"Hold out your hand. Don't make me say it a third time."
His voice wasn't loud, but the undeniable killing intent it contained shattered the black-haired caddie's last shred of courage. Tears streamed down his face as he let out a desperate sob, trembling like a puppeteer. Slowly, incredibly slowly, he extended his own violently trembling right hand, palm open, and pressed it against the cold grass in front of him. He didn't even dare close his eyes, staring intently at his outstretched hand as if it were someone else's limb.
Lin Feng walked over and gently placed the white golf ball in the center of his sweaty, trembling palm. Then, he took a half step back.
He raised his club, preparing to swing again.
"Wait!" Mike suddenly spoke again, his voice slightly distorted with tension.
Lin Feng stopped moving and looked at him, his eyes calm and expressionless, but Mike felt that gaze was as piercing as an ice pick.
"Mr. Lin. Lin..." Mike swallowed hard and said with difficulty, "How can I let you do this kind of rough work yourself? Or... let me do it? I... I'd like to try this 'joke' too."
His words were spoken with extreme reluctance and insincerity. But he had to say them! He had to show "cooperation," to show "we're in this together," in order to temporarily remove himself from the "prey" list! He had to participate, even if only symbolically, to show Lin Feng, "I know the rules, I'm on your side!"
This is the most tragic yet realistic choice driven by the instinct for survival.
Lin Feng stared at Mike for a few seconds. Those few seconds felt like centuries to Mike. He could feel his heart pounding wildly, and sweat had soaked through his expensive golf shirt.
Finally, Lin Feng slowly nodded, a subtle, enigmatic expression on his face that seemed to hold both approval and mockery.
"Sure." He casually handed the golf club to Mike. "Friends share the fun. You go first."
